New Demo & Main Game Updates

Hi all,This is a very special update because the demo is finally aligned with the main game! This will allow me to update the demo alongside the main game, picking up all the small to large changes and carrying them across in a much quicker and simpler way. But there's more!Demo UpdatesThe demo has been rebuilt so players will have to create a brand new save (as per the previous post -)The demo now includes all the quality of life features, including the bigger pieces such as Research and Desktop DinosNow you can play the demo and IMPORT IT INTO THE MAIN GAME and pick up where you left offThe demo will be updated more frequently going forward to keep it in on par with the big features Both Demo and Main Game Additions: Selling All Dinos, Selling Eggs and Select AllYou can now sell eggs (at very low prices) - this was added to make end game a little less cumbersome when trying to get that last dino - also, it plays into some future updates ;)Select All and Sell Selected is now available on Dino StatsLocked dinos are excluded from selections so you can safely select all and sellAffinity ExplanationAffinity wasn't as well explained before, so this change when onboarding and also in the Habitats shop should help clarifyShader ImprovementsAll of the main shaders (rainbow, shiny, tinted, wind and affinity) have been rewritten to be more efficient which clawed back some of the FPS FPS OverlayAdded an FPS overlay to make debugging easier and included it as a checkbox setting in the menu Legacy FixesA little while ago there was a glitch that allowed selling a dino twice. This left unfinished dinos in the code and had knock on effects (such as not being able to add the final dino to a habitat). I have put in some fixes to clear these dinos automatically, and also log errors more effectively going forward. If you find that your game seems unusually slow or lagging in certain areas, please let me know so I can work with you to investigate it.Again, thanks to those who take the ...

Demo will be taken offline in 2 days

Hi all,The Pocket Dinos demo will be taken offline in 2 days, around 30 August 2026 at 11:00 UTC (7:00 PM AWST).The current demo will be retired while I rebuild it to better match the full game. Right now, demo saves cannot be transferred into the full version, which is a major issue, and the demo is also missing a number of quality-of-life improvements and newer features such as Research and Desktop Dinos. The rebuilt demo will include these improvements, along with the ability to transfer your save into the full version. It will also allow more frequent updates to align with some of the new features coming to Pocket Dinos in the coming months.Unfortunately, this also means that existing demo saves will not carry across to the new demo, so you will need to start a new save once it becomes available. After this rebuild, the demo should have a much more stable foundation and remain playable throughout Early Access without needing another reset like this. Thanks, Diesel

Save System Improvements and Bug Fixes

The save system has had a major reliability update, particularly around unexpected shutdowns, crashes and power loss. Save ImprovementsSave files are now written and backed up more safely, reducing the chance of both the current save and its backup being damaged at the same time.If damaged save data is detected, Pocket Dinos will now automatically attempt to recover it from a previous backup.Corrupted files are preserved rather than immediately overwritten, giving us a better chance of manually recovering data if automatic recovery fails. If dinos data cannot be recovered, the rest of the save will now be preserved rather than potentially losing access to the entire session.Players will now be notified when save recovery has occurred, and recovery logs are created to make investigating any future issues much easier.A support option has been added to Settings to make locating save data easier if files need to be sent in for recovery. This cannot completely eliminate the possibility of corruption from things such as sudden power loss, but it should make Pocket Dinos significantly more resilient and, importantly, give both the game and us more options to recover data when something does go wrong. Thank you to those who submitted bug reports and went through the process of manually fixing these issues. Bug Fixes and AdjustmentsFixed application focus and unfocus (blocked Esc key from bringing up Main Menu)Potentially stopped some dinos becoming really skinny on edges when flipping directionStopped multiple audio files playing when adding multiple eggsAdded icon for Dino StatsCleaned up missing sound and visuals from Multiselect in Dino StatsAs always, if you notice anything odd, please let me know. Have a great week!
