About this game

A Tiny Desk Companion

Let a leopard gecko quietly move onto your desktop. It will wander, pause, and rest in the corner of your screen like a tiny living presence that never gets in your way. When you want to check in, step into its vivarium, refill its water, feed it, and tidy up its little world.

Build Its Vivarium by Hand

From hides, water bowls, and basking spots to lighting, create a comfortable habitat for your gecko. Different objects change both the function and atmosphere of the vivarium, shaping the everyday moments you will notice next.

Observe Its Daily Habits

Your gecko will not always move on your schedule. It may rest, roam, find a place to hide, approach water, or respond when the timing is right. Watch for a few seconds, record what you see, and slowly learn the rhythm of its life.

A Real Little Environment on Your Desktop

Heat lamps, water bowls, hides, and substrate all affect the temperature inside the vivarium. Open the temperature view to see how the basking spot, cool zone, hides, and water area change across the enclosure.

Unlock Different Morphs

As your observation level increases, new morph skins will gradually become available. From classic natural looks to brighter selectively bred varieties, give your gecko a new appearance and see which one feels most at home on your desktop.

    Update 1.0.2

This small update focuses on reducing stutters and fixing achievement issues, mainly around the shop, view transitions, and behavior observations.ImprovementsOptimized the shop’s initial opening and category switching to reduce stutters caused by loading item cards and substrate resources at once.Improved transitions between Desktop Mode and the full vivarium view, reducing window jumps and long stalls.Adjusted reflection handling on Windows to make transitions into the vivarium view more stable.Reduced unnecessary calculations when the gecko searches for a climbable observation spot, lowering the chance of brief stutters in complex enclosures.Reduced background scene processing while the shop is open, helping shop interactions stay smoother.FixesFixed an issue where seeing the gecko drink for the first time did not trigger the “Tiny Tongue, First Sip” milestone, its rewards, or the corresponding Steam achievement.Fixed hiding and sleeping inside a hide not being recorded as observed behaviors, which prevented their observation rewards and corresponding Steam achievements from unlocking.

    Update 1.0.1

This update fixes Steam achievements and cleans up a few display issues in the shop panel.* Fixed achievements not unlocking — the previous build was missing the files the game needs to talk to Steam. After updating, any progress already in your save will automatically unlock its achievements the next time you start the game, so you won't need to earn them again.* Reworked the shop card layout: the image, name, and price now always stay fully visible, and longer descriptions scroll inside the card instead of stretching it past the panel.* Hovering over a description lets the mouse wheel scroll just the text; anywhere else, the wheel still flips through the shelf as before.* Scrolling while the shop is open no longer zooms the enclosure view behind it.* If you play at a higher UI scale, the shop panel now grows a little taller so more of each description fits — and when there still isn't room, hovering over a card shows the full text.

Desktop Reptiles Is Out Now — Full Release Update

The full release is more than the Demo with its level cap removed. It expands the longer progression, adds new vivariums and care options, gives the gecko more places to explore, and brings several parts of the presentation and interface up to their finished form. Here’s a closer look at what has changed—without spoiling every unlock waiting later in the game.A Longer JourneyThe Demo ended at Observation Level 3. The full release now continues all the way to Level 12, with the progression reworked so that every level opens something meaningful.New vivariums, furnishings, bedding, plants, and morphs are spread throughout the later levels. Some arrive early, while others are deliberately being left for you to discover. The full release currently includes 10 leopard gecko morphs, ranging from classic natural colours to more distinct captive-bred appearances.New VivariumsBeyond the Starter Tank and Growth Tank from the Demo, the full release opens three more habitats:Display TankCrag Terrarium (Basic)Crag Terrarium (Expanded)The two Crag Terrariums are not simply larger glass tanks. They feature solid rock backdrops, layered ledges, irregular floor space, and more vertical areas for the gecko to use.Your gecko can climb onto the back wall and settle into the new Ledge Rest behaviour. The terrariums also have their own camera framing, designed to show more of the rock wall instead of flattening the habitat into a straight front view. When changing vivariums, the game now checks whether the existing layout will fit. If an object falls outside the usable area, the change is stopped with a clear explanation rather than leaving the enclosure in a broken state.Misting and Local WetnessA new misting tool is available while viewing the enclosure up close.Hold the left mouse button inside the vivarium to spray. A longer hold creates a wetter and cooler area, with visible droplets, darkened bedding, and reflections from the damp surface.Misting can also affect the upward-facing surf...

Demo Update : Daytime Feeding and Smoother Movement

Geckos can now track and catch mealworms during the day, so feeding feedback should happen more naturally after you offer food.Sansevieria Cylindrica now behaves more like a purely decorative plant. It no longer takes up main layout capacity or affects the enclosure score.Small decorations now block movement in a more precise way. Raised props or objects with only a small ground contact should no longer make the gecko avoid the entire footprint.Improved pathfinding in more detailed enclosures, especially when there are several decorations placed around the habitat.Fixed a case where the gecko could repeatedly replan during observation pauses, which could make it hesitate, stutter, or change direction too often.
