Huntsman Against Darkness — Mid-Summer Update
Greetings, Huntsmen! We've been hard at work these past weeks polishing the arena experience, squashing bugs, and adding new content. This update brings 5 new arena upgrades, a material loot system, major boss-fight improvements, and dozens of stability fixes. We're pushing this from the debug branch to the default branch for everyone — read on for the full details. ⚔️ New Arena Upgrades Five new upgrades can now appear in the level-up screen during arena runs: Critical Chance — Each pellet has a chance to deal 2× damage on hit. Stacks up to 5 times (10% per stack). Piercing Shots — Pellets pass through enemies instead of being destroyed on contact. Each stack adds +1 pierce (max 3). Knockback Force — Increases the knockback applied to enemies on hit. Stacks up to 3 times. Thorns Aura — Passively damages nearby enemies every 0.5 seconds. Stacks up to 4 times, increasing DPS. XP Bonus — Increases all XP gained from gems by 15% per stack (max 5). Material Drops from Enemies Enemies now have a 10% chance to drop materials (Coins, Wood, or Stone) when they die. Materials bounce out with a small arc animation and play a landing sound before becoming collectible. Boss enemies are guaranteed to drop 1 of each material type plus a burst of XP gems on death. Collected materials are added as bonus loot to your end-of-run rewards on top of the performance-based calculation. A new HUD section shows your gathered materials during the run. Consumable Chests Reworked Arena chests have been completely rebuilt. Instead of directly healing you, chests now grant consumable items: Healing Chest — Adds a Healing Potion to your inventory. Poison Chest — Adds a Poison Flask to your inventory. Honey Chest — Adds a Honey Salve to your inventory. If your inventory for that consumable is already full, a floating message warns you and tells you which building can increase your capacity. Picking up a chest type for the first time triggers a brief tutorial pop-up explaining how to use it. Boss C...Read full article on Community Announcements (rosdan)Patch NotesOfficial
Update: Market Square Trading, Crash Fixes & Better Loot Visibility!
Update: Market Square Trading, Crash Fixes & Better Loot Visibility! Hello everyone! First off, a huge thank you to everyone who has been playing and leaving feedback. Your reports have been incredibly helpful in tracking down some of the more elusive bugs. Over the last few days, we've focused heavily on improving stability and adding several highly requested quality-of-life features. New Feature: The Market Square Have too much Wood but need Coins? We've got you covered! Once you free the Traveling Merchant, you can now interact with the Market Square in your village. Instantly trade your excess resources for the ones you need (Wood ↔ Stone ↔ Coins). There are no limits to how many trades you can make, as long as you have the required resources! Improvements: Loot Drops Loot Clarity: Enemies now drop distinct, easily identifiable icons for Wood, Stone, and Gold Coins instead of generic drops, so you'll always know exactly what you're picking up! Improvements: Potions & Consumables Consumable Chests: You'll now occasionally find special consumable chests in the arena containing Poison Bottles, Honey Salves, and Healing Potions, allowing you to experience these mechanics even before fully upgrading your village. Gameplay & Visual Improvements Re-scaled loot and chest icons to fit naturally within the arena without obstructing gameplay. Village Settings: Added a new option in the Settings menu to hide the explanatory text shown throughout the village, giving veteran players a cleaner interface. Bug Fixes & Stability Fixed a major physics-related crash that could occur during intense enemy waves while spawning gameplay elements. Fixed a freeze/crash related to Level-Up AoE bursts that could occasionally occur if the player died at a very specific moment. Fixed a persistent background crash that could occur more than 20 times during longer runs due to chest respawn timers continuing after a run had ended. Long survival runs should now be significantly more stable. Than...Read full article on Community Announcements (rosdan)Patch NotesOfficial
Update: HUD Tweaks, & Major Crash Fixes
Hello Hunters! We've just pushed a new update to the live build based heavily on your feedback over the last few days. The focus of this patch was expanding your strategic choices when leveling up, cleaning up the UI, and squashing a nasty freezing bug. Bug Fixes Fixed "Mid-Map" & "Level Up" Freezes: Fixed a major engine-level physics bug that caused the game to silently freeze or crash when collecting perks, or when enemies dropped XP gems at specific angles. You should now be able to complete full runs without interruption! Thank you as always for providing your logs and feedback — it helps us track these things down so much faster. Good luck on your next run! Cheers, Dan.Read full article on Community Announcements (rosdan)Patch NotesOfficial
Patch Notes: HUD Overhaul, 5 New Upgrades & Crash Fixes
Hello Hunters! Thank you to everyone for playing and leaving your feedback! We’ve been listening closely to your reports and reviews, and today we’re rolling out an update that significantly improves the in-game UI, adds much-needed variety to your level-up choices, and squashes some nasty crashes. UI / Quality of Life: HUD Resized: We heard your feedback that the top UI was way too big and blocked a large portion of the screen. We have completely overhauled and shrunk the top HUD (Health Bar, XP Bar, Timer, and Badge slots) to free up roughly 15% more screen space! You'll have much better visibility during fights now. New Content (Upgrades): We’ve injected some serious variety into the Level Up pool so every run feels more unique. 5 brand-new upgrades have been added to the game: Heavy Lightshot: Increases the knockback force of your shots, giving you more breathing room. Critical Hit: Grants a chance for your attacks to deal double damage. Piercing Light: Your shots can now pierce through multiple enemies. Experienced Hunter: Increases the amount of XP you gain from every gem collected. Thorn Aura: Surrounds you with a protective, damaging aura that continuously hurts nearby enemies. *(Note: Your active upgrades are still capped at 7 slots, so choose your build wisely!)* Bug & Crash Fixes: Fatal Physics Crash: Fixed an extremely frustrating issue where the game would suddenly freeze and crash to desktop during intense combat. This was caused by an engine bug triggering when enemies or projectiles were destroyed at the exact millisecond of a complex collision. Level Up Crash: Fixed an issue that could cause the game to crash immediately after selecting a perk. Thank you so much to the players who shared their crash logs—they were vital to getting these hotfixes out. As always, let us know what you think of the new upgrades, and happy hunting!Read full article on Community Announcements (rosdan)
