About this game
After a catastrophic incident cuts an isolated Antarctic research facility off from the outside world, an increasingly desperate fight for survival begins.
As systems fail, communications break down, and hostile creatures roam the facility, pieces of a larger mystery begin to emerge from the chaos left behind.
Explore a vast underground complex, navigate restricted sectors, solve environmental puzzles, search for supplies, and uncover hidden areas as you progress deeper into the unknown.
Combining atmospheric horror with intense first-person combat and logical puzzles, Invariant blends exploration, tense firefights, and resource management into a constant struggle for survival.

Development Update #1
Hello everyone! It's been a little while since the first devlog, so I wanted to share a quick update on how things are going.Development has continued every day. While things have been relatively quiet publicly, a lot of work has been happening behind the scenes. The past few months have been spent improving the project's structure and organization, expanding documentation, refining production workflows, creating new level blockouts, and continuing to refine the game's visual identity and overall art direction. Most of this work isn't particularly exciting to show, but it's an important part of building a solid foundation that will make development smoother as the project grows.I've also been fortunate to receive interest from several publishers over the past few months, which I'm genuinely grateful for. For now, though, my focus remains on developing the game itself. I believe those conversations are most valuable once the project has matured and truly represents the experience I'm trying to create. If I decide to work with a publisher in the future, it will be because they can help bring Invariant to the players who will enjoy it most, while respecting the vision behind the project. As I mentioned in the first devlog, my goal is to release a complete and polished game rather than an Early Access title. Before release, Invariant will go through both closed and open beta testing, and there will also be a free demo so everyone can experience the game beforehand. Community feedback has always been important to me, and I want players to have the opportunity to help refine the game before launch.Current development is primarily focused on refining the game's core gameplay mechanics, continuing work on the story, and blocking out the levels. These are the areas that will occupy most of my time over the coming months.Thank you all for your patience, your support, and for following the project. It means a lot, and I'm looking forward to sharing more as development continues. ...Read full article on Community Announcements (Josip)AnnouncementsOfficial
Welcome to Invariant
Hi! Welcome to Invariant. My name is Josip, and I'm the solo developer behind the game.Invariant is an action survival horror FPS that draws major inspiration from Half-Life, Resident Evil, and The Thing, among others, while delivering its own distinct gameplay experience. It is not trying to be a spiritual successor to anything, but rather something entirely original. If you followed the project before, you'll know it went through a confusing period where it became quiet and eventually disappeared from Steam entirely. I wasn't able to talk about it publicly at the time, and I know that was frustrating. A lot happened behind the scenes that pulled the project away from what it was originally supposed to be. Rather than continue building on a foundation that didn't feel right, I made the decision to step back and restart from scratch with a clear direction and full creative control.I recently released Devlog #1 on YouTube, which goes through the whole story: how the project started, how it changed over time, what went wrong, and why starting over was, I believe, the right call. If you're curious about any of it, that's the best place to start.Invariant is being rebuilt in the Godot engine with native Windows and Linux support. Its development is heavily influenced by the PS2 era philosophy of game development, with a focus on smart optimization and visual techniques inspired by games like Metal Gear Solid 2 and Silent Hill 3.The project is fully funded and currently in active development.Thank you for being here.JosipRead full article on Community Announcements (Josip)
