About this game
The Definitive Edition includes the Company of Heroes base game, along with the Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor expansions in one complete package. Experience visceral World War II storytelling, including all content in the base game and Opposing Fronts and Tales of Valor expansions, delivering three cinematic campaigns, four unique armies, and more than 50 multiplayer & skirmish maps.
Upon its release in 2006, the original Company of Heroes redefined the RTS genre, setting a new standard for immersive RTS design, blending squad-based tactics, environmental destruction, and cinematic presentation. This is the modernization of a true classic, faithfully enhanced for today’s hardware while preserving the gritty atmosphere, squad-level strategy, and dynamic battlefields that made the original game one of the highest rated strategy games of all time.
Company of Heroes - Definitive Edition Updates
Company of Heroes – Definitive Edition delivers upgraded unit and environment textures, enhancing the overall presentation. Improved world lighting and shadows, along with enhanced textures, make for a superior experience while preserving the original art direction and tone.
Quality-of-life gameplay improvements have been added, including vehicle reversing and the option to automatically reinforce units at your HQ structure, making for a smoother gameplay experience. The A.I. has been enhanced, providing a more dynamic and challenging experience, and a new Ruthless A.I. difficulty option provides the ultimate challenge for veteran players.
Fully upgraded to a 64-bit platform to support modern systems and compatible with a 20-year catalogue of community-created mods, the Definitive Edition aims to bolster the ongoing efforts of the modding community and secure its legacy for years to come.
The HUD and screen layout has been adjusted for modern widescreen viewing, including widescreen and ultrawide displays, and the UI and controls have been modernized, including grid key support and custom hotkeys.

Three Full-Length Campaigns & Three Single-Player Stories
Company of Heroes begins with the D-Day Invasion of Normandy as players lead squads of Allied soldiers into battle against the German war machine through some of the most pivotal battles of WWII.
In the next chapter, Opposing Fronts, Players lead the tenacious British 2nd Army during the heroic WWII liberation of Caen, France, and command the German Panzer Elite as they struggle to repel the largest airborne invasion in history.
Tales of Valor includes three immersive storylines and allows players to experience WWII from all sides of the war.
Co-op and Custom Games
Play 2 to 8 player multiplayer as four unique factions, the American, British 2nd Army, German Panzer Elite or Wehrmacht.

Twenty years ago, Company of Heroes changed the RTS genre with its cinematic battlefield action and tactical depth. As we celebrate this milestone, we’re excited to share our 20th Anniversary Franchise Roadmap, giving you a look at what’s coming to the Company of Heroes Franchise until the end of the year! 2026 has been a big year for Company of Heroes, with several major releases including Topaz Rhino (2.3.0) and the Dare & Destroy Battlegroup DLC for Company of Heroes 3. The anniversary celebration continues with the release of the new standalone wave defense experience - Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand. This will also align with the release of update 2.5.0 for CoH3 which includes balance and gameplay changes, new maps, and a refresh of the lobby screen. At the heart of the anniversary celebration is Company of Heroes: Definitive Edition, bringing the classic game to a new generation of players, and giving longtime fans of the franchise a definitive way to play the game that started it all.
