About this game
Destroy. Upgrade. Destroy some more.
Welcome to Idle Asteroids, an explosive upgrade on the arcade classic. Watch your spaceship, face endless waves of escalating cosmic threats, and destroy them!
Whether you want to actively dodge and weave through a bullet hell of space rocks, or build an automated dreadnought that destroys everything in its path, Idle Asteroids delivers that satisfying "numbers go up" while I watch things blow up feeling all while wrapped in comfy arcade nostalgia.
💥 Build Your Arsenal
Start simple and evolve into a asteroid-clearing war machine.
Weapons: Upgrade your cannon, launch homing missiles, deploy explosive mines and more to vaporize enemies getting too close.
Special Abilities: Overwhelmed? Drop a Singularity black hole to suck in nearby asteroids, or when all else fails why not launch a Nuclear Warhead, it's the only way to be sure.
Tactical Defense: Upgrade your Hull, recharge your Shields, and master the Warp Dash!
🌌 Escalating Cosmic Threats
The universe doesn't want you here, and it will throw increasingly complex dangers your way:
Asteroids: We have an endless supply of space rocks that just need to be turned into cosmic dust.
Flying Saucers: The eternal foe. We don't remember why, we just shoot on sight.
And more devious enemies as you progress through the rounds and levels.
⚙️ Deep Permanent Progression
With over 50 upgrades across multiple categories, every run matters.
Active vs. Idle Play: Tap or click anywhere to manually deal damage to the nearest enemy, or invest heavily in Mining Drones that autonomously harvest asteroids for passive income.
Infinite Scaling: Push your Best Round to increase your Universal Player Bonus, a global multiplier that makes every future upgrade even more powerful.
AFK: Level up your automation enough, and you can comfortably idle through earlier rounds while your drones and auto-turrets do the work.
🕹️ Pure Retro Aesthetics
Dive into nostalgia with crisp, color-coded vector graphics. Idle Asteroids embraces its roots with a classic feel of the arcade original.

Minor Patch (v1.2.3)
Update — Performance & Weapons Polish Performance Shrapnel pooling — Multiple asteroids shattering at once (e.g. from a nuke) no longer causes frame drops from mass instantiation. Adaptive quality tiering — Changed the thresholds to reduce effects when FPS start to drop. Singularity — Batched drawing to speed up the rendering of these. Shrapnel — Cached some math at spawn instead of recalculating every frame. Gameplay & Fixes Shrapnel included in blast calculations — Mines, missiles, and force nukes now properly destroy shrapnel within their blast radius. Gamepad disconnect handling — Disconnecting a controller now rescans for remaining devices instead of assuming none are connected. Population safety caps — Added maximum limits for bullets, missiles, mines, and singularities to prevent runaway spawning. Most players should never hit these limits As always, thank you for playing Idle Asteroids!Read full article on Community Announcements (Manack)Patch NotesOfficial
Minor Patch (v1.2.2)
Minor Patch v1.2.2 Performance Smoother play at high rounds and levels, found some optimizations for enemy tracking, AI targeting, and visual effects. Cleaned up internal object tracking to cut down on some wasted cpu cycles. Gravity Wells Missiles can now damage gravity wells Gravity wells slowly regenerate HP while caught in a singularity's pull Slingshot launches more accurate, beware! UI New FPS counter — press F to toggle it on/off As always, thanks for playingRead full article on Community Announcements (Manack)Patch NotesOfficial
Minor patch (v1.2.1)
Gravity Well Rework Gravity wells now play differently. Asteroids will now be caught its orbit, spin up to double speed over one full loop, then get slingshotted straight at your ship Balance Changes Increased Armored Asteroids vulnerability to lasers. Enhanced resistance to bullets. Late-game asteroid variety modified. Past round 40, every asteroid used to be forced into a seeker. Now you get more varied threats instead of a pure seeker swarm. Fixes Leveling up no longer looks like a hull loss. When you ascend your max hull will be reset correctly. Devourer asteroids now leave special variants alone. Splinters, ricochets, armored, comet-trail, and other mutant asteroids bounce off the Devourer instead of getting eaten, only plain and seeker asteroids get absorbed. Nebula zones have their own color. They were previously the same purple as singularities, making the two hazards hard to tell apart at a glance. Nebula zones keep getting harder in the late game. Previously their spawn rate and size scaling flattened out around round 22, so the back half of a run never ramped up. They now keep intensifying all the way to round 50. Splinter shrapnel range now scales with your screen size, so shard spread is consistent regardless of resolution instead of using a fixed pixel distance.Read full article on Community Announcements (Manack)Patch NotesOfficial
