About this game

Guncrypt game logo

YOUR MAGAZINE. YOUR BUILD.

Guncrypt isn't about finding better guns. It's about building the perfect sequence of shots.

Collect bullets with unique abilities and load them into your magazine in whichever order you want. Poison rounds, lightning shots, spread fire, ricochet slugs, piercing beams... they'll fire exactly how you loaded them - and the sequence matters! An armor-stripping Corrosive Shot followed by the gut-busting Heavy Shot hits completely differently than the reverse: it's up to you to find which combination fits your shooting style better.

Rearrange your magazine between rooms. Experiment with ordering. Find combinations the game never intended. Your magazine is your build, and no two runs build the same way.

DESCEND THE CRYPT

Fight through four floors of procedurally generated rooms, each with new enemies, hazards, and bosses. Explore the undead infested Crypt, delve into the goblin ravaged Forgotten Mines, survive the Toxic Swamp and its deadly Mycoth boss, and descend into Skulldarcula's Domain to face the evil wizard himself.

Every floor hides secrets: buried treasures, hidden rooms, shady goblin merchants and skeletons that are lost in the rhythm - the usual.

CLICK, SHOOT, REPEAT

Take full control with seamless mouse input that lets you tear through the Crypt your way. Teleport out of danger, drop bombs to wipe the room, or dance between enemies while your build does the heavy lifting. Every run unfolds differently, with new situations, new paths, and new ways to survive. Along the way, you’ll face tough decisions, sacrificing bullets and experimenting with what you have. You might even stumble into the possibility of fusing bullets together, combining their effects into something new, but bear in mind that every choice comes with a price.

80+ RELICS THAT BREAK THE RULES

Find relics that stack, combine, and warp the rules of every run. Perfect your lightning build by combining the Tesla Coil with the Everstorm painting and let electricity do your job for you. Become a poison-wielding nightmare with the Virus by transferring all poison from a dead enemy to the next one. Get filthy rich thanks to the Piggy Bank... Or even dare to sign an infernal contract and try to live with the consequences.

With 80+ relics interacting with 60+ bullets across three weapons, the number of possible builds is absurd. Some of them are even intentional.

A TOWN FULL OF IDIOTS THAT NEED YOUR HELP

The town of Guncrypt was a peaceful and prosperous place. Then an evil wizard cursed it and stole everyone's souls. Now it's in the dumps.

Meet Billy Bulletsmith, the illiterate Scottish bulletsmith who forges your ammo and draws Skulldarcula fanart on the side. Gunter, the Hunter Gang leader who is legally obliged to inform you he's not responsible for your death. Plunderin' Pete, the pirate captain whose entire crew scarpered on him. The Master, a self-proclaimed weapons expert who offloads junk from his trunk hoping you'll leave him alone. And Healer Hazel, of course, because every town need a cleric.

Complete quests for the townsfolk, rescue the kidnapped priest, rebuild what Skulldarcula destroyed, and try not to think too hard about the fact that you're a randomly named deputy with a procedurally generated backstory involving a hamburger covered in aioli.

GO DEEPER EVERY RUN

Between runs, equip Tarot Cards in town to customize your starting loadout. Stack passive bonuses, adjust your playstyle, and push your Arcana budget to fit one more card.

When the Crypt gets too easy, raise the Curse Level. Five escalating tiers add harder enemies, harder bosses, enchanted foes, and eventually doubled floor bosses. There's no better loot. Just glory, a higher score multiplier, and the knowledge that you're the rootinest, shootinest cowpoke in all of Guncrypt.

    The localization update has arrived!

Guncrypt now speaks your language! The crypt has gone global, and frankly, Skulldarcula's threats hit different in nine languages. We've been working hard on bringing Guncrypt to as many players as possible, and today we're excited to announce full localization support for: French German Spanish (Spain) Spanish (Latin America) Russian Chinese (Simplified) Chinese (Traditional) Japanese KoreanPop into Settings to pick your language. We also snuck in some minor bug fixes while we were in there, and the crypt is a slightly less broken place than it was last week. It's still full of Goblins, though. And while we're here: a massive thank you to everyone who's left a review, posted about Guncrypt, shared it with friends, or just sent us a kind word online. Seriously. We read all of it. Building a game is a wild ride, and knowing people are out there enjoying it keeps us going. If you haven't yet, remember to play the demo and add us to your Wishlist. It's free, it takes two seconds, and it genuinely makes a difference. Now go on. The crypt awaits, in whatever language you prefer to scream in.

    The challenge continues, Deputies.

We are back for more!Deputies, The Halfbrick Show is back with Part 2 of our Guncrypt gameplay challenge, in which we test yet another two builds that aren't exactly... optimised. Before we dive in, thank you for all the support during Steam Next Fest. Seeing so many players jump into the demo, wishlist the game, and share their wild builds has been incredible.A huge thank you as well to all the content creators who have played, streamed, clipped, covered, or shared Guncrypt so far. We’ve loved seeing your runs, reactions, and wonderfully cursed bullet combinations. Keep 'em coming! And now, for the Magazine Challenge...Last time, we spun the wheel, locked ourselves to one bullet type, and tried to survive the crypt with whatever build fate handed us. If you don't remember the rules we published last week, check out our last post. This time, Carmen is still clinging to the lead, Aiden is forced into a Damage-only run, and Fran shows us what happens when a QA player gets their hands on a Lightning build.(Spoiler: it's exactly what you'd expect). Watch the episode to encounter rocket fusions, skeleton swarms, questionable mouse ergonomics, Armsadillo getting absolutely bullied, and one final score that makes the rest of us look deeply unprepared. And, of course, if you have a challenge you want us to try next, send it our way. How to share your run, if you dare:Play the free Guncrypt Demo.Complete a Challenge run (dying heroically also counts)Post: bullet type + floor depth + loadout screenshotFormat your comment like this: POOL: Lightning DAMAGE: 8935 | And don't forget to add a screenshot! If you’re playing the Guncrypt demo, vanilla or otherwise, keep sharing your screenshots, scores, clips, streams, and run links in the Community Hub. We love to see what you’re building. And if you want to show your support, remember to share Guncrypt with your friends (and foes). Every wishlist counts, allowing the game to reach more players, and for the Goblins to keep playing with dy...

A challenge for the most daring Deputies.

It started on the Podcast...On Episode 31 of The Halfbrick Show, we ran this challenge live with QA legend Fran to celebrate Gunbcrypt participating in Steam Next Fest. The rules: spin a wheel, get assigned one bullet type, and go as deep into the dungeon as you can using nothing else.Carmen went first. She pulled Multishot and is currently in the lead. Aiden and Fran still have to take their runs: Part 2 drops next week. Now it's your turn!GunCrypt has several different bullet pools. Most players grab whatever drops and figure it out on the fly. That is not how this works. The GunCrypt Magazine Challenge has one rule:You can only pick up bullets from your assigned pool. Everything else, no matter how rare, no matter how tempting, you'll have to leave on the ground. No team required. Just you, your one bullet type, and whatever cursed build you can cobble together before the dungeon kills you.The rules (brought to you by the Master!)Pick your bullet type. Choose one of these pools: Vulnerable, Damage-only, Poison, Lightning or Multishot/Spreadshot. That is your entire arsenal. Bullets with mutiple effects are fair game, but only if they include your chosen pool. Skip everything else. If a bullet drop does not match your pool, walk past it. Yes, even the Epics. Especially the Epics.Relics and upgrades are fair game, unless they break the spirit of the challenge.Go as deep as you can. Tiebreaker is your final damage score. Same rule we used on the show.Share the build. Post your bullet type, your floor depth, and a screenshot of your final loadout in the comments.Sharing is caring! This is not a leaderboard. There is no prize. The point is to see what everyone figured out with the same constraints, and to find out if anyone can beat Carmen before Part 2 even airs. Want to check out her exact build? Try our official website to see how that went.Drop your bullet type, your depth, and a screenshot. We are reading every single build post. How to share?Play the free demo durin...

Poison 101. A lesson from The Master.

Dearest Deputies. The Master has received several complaints lately. Mostly from goblins. Something about being dissolved. I will not be taking questions about that. What I WILL address is this: too many of you are using Poison wrong. And frankly, it is an insult to the art! Not Gobbo, though. His latest build was inmaculate, even though it seems to have gotten him into trouble.Want to achieve his levels of venomous awesomeness? Sit down, relax, and try to resist the toxic fumes while The Master tells you all about it.Lesson One: What is Poison?Poison works in stacks. Think of each stack as one drop of venom seeping into your enemy's bloodstream. Unpleasant for them... But delightful for you!Every second, Poison deals 10 damage for every stack on the enemy. So:5 stacks = 50 damage per second10 stacks = 100 damage per second20 stacks = 200 damage per secondYou are not shooting them so much as you are committing to a slow, satisfying inevitability. The Master respects this.Lesson Two: The Catch(Oh for — yes there is a catch. Pay attention.)After every tick, Poison burns off its own stacks. At least 25% of them, gone. The more stacks on an enemy, the faster they decay. This means big stacks hit HARD up front, then taper off. So what do you do?You keep shooting. You keep reapplying. You do not stand around admiring your work like some kind of amateur.Lesson Three: The BulletsThe Master recommends starting here, in order of ascending sophistication:Poison Tipped Bullet — 4 stacks per shot. Reliable. Humble. A solid foundation. Even you cannot mess this up.Concentrated Poison — 8 stacks in a single shot. Twice the venom, half the effort. The Master approves.Noxious Contaminator — Does not apply poison directly. Instead, it secretly loads your next bullet with bonus stacks before it fires. Sneaky. Underhanded. Frankly impressive.Noxious Fumigator — Lower stacks per shot, but hits every enemy in the room simultaneously. The goblins have filed complaints specifically about thi...

    The Mystic Update is here!

Hello, Deputies! You may have heard about a certain fortune teller getting lost in the crypt. Well, you don't have to wait anymore: meet Matilda the Mystic, a new character who's set up shop and brought a small but very handy bag of tricks with her. Her tarot cards will move even the most cold-hearted sceptics, unlocking new ways to play and even deadlier combinations. For now, you can get a first taste of the tarot system with these three upgrades:What's on offer (for now):Healthy: Add one more max heart, right from the beginning. Because sometimes the crypt just wants you dead faster than you'd like.Projectile Dodge: 30% chance to dodge enemy projectiles. Yes. Bullets can miss you now, if you are lucky enough. Let that sink in.Demolitionist: Start each run with one extra bomb. Hit the crypt floor already packing heat and make Plunderin' Pete proud. However, these won't come for free: you'll need to find scrolls in the crypt in order to unlock every upgrade, bringing them to Matilda for her... Magicky stuff. We don't know what she does with them, but what's for sure is that you are going to need a lot. More upgrades are coming but for now, these three should shake up your runs nicely. Also: Steam Remapping controller Support is in!You can now remap controls through Steam's built-in remapping system and play GunCrypt with a controller. It's not full native controller support yet, as that's coming down the line along with proper in-game settings, but if you've been wanting to blast through the crypt from your couch, you can do that now.Want to keep the updates coming? Can't wait to play the full game? If you haven't already, grab the demo and add GunCrypt to your wishlist. If you unlock a particularly destructive build, share it in the hub. Leave a review. It all helps more than you know. That's all for now; and keep on shooting!
