About this game

How Empires Work is an incremental strategy game about developing over the course of centuries. Build economic and political machinery to encourage growth, and employ your aristocracy to manage and automate the bureaucracy of empire.

Take your place in on the world stage and bring exploitation the light of civilization to the dark corners of the globe.

Features:

  • Incremental gameplay starting with the humble click of a button, expanding into the management of an Early Modern state!

  • Rely on your aristocracy and growing bureaucracy to automate the management of your increasingly complex empire!

  • Make the pursuit of power and profit go symbiotically hand in hand - just like real life!

  • Discover new features and new gameplay over the course of play, as the nature of your empire changes!

    • (No really, there's a lot of things to do!)

  • Numbers going up! (The imperial core will not have to suffer any consequences.)
