Content notice: The story of this game deals with an unknown enemy manipulating human events in order to take control of the bodies it acquired through Neural hijacking and body harvesting. This unknown enemy must continue to eliminate humans in order to exist and achieve its goals. There are also some characters with form fitting uniforms that just barely cover the body that may not be appropriate for all ages.

About this game

Engage enemy fleets in turn-based tactical battles on an 8 X 5 grid. Command your half of the battlefield as you manage upgrades and limited resources. Success depends on choosing the right tradeoffs at the right moment to eliminate a menacing threat.

Story

As a military escort crew, your mission is to protect convoys and keep supply routes safe from pirate attacks. But something is wrong. The attacks are no longer random, but precise and coordinated. As the conflict escalates, the truth begins to unravel. What everyone assumed to be pirates at the beginning becomes a horrific realization that the enemy was something far more malicious. What started as basic military operations turns into a conspiracy that could eradicate humanity and leave a sinister intelligence ruling the known universe.

Gameplay

Battles take place on a compact 8 X 5 battlefield that forces constant engagement. Every unit is within attack range, making positioning, timing, and resource management critical.

Each encounter is designed to be fast-paced and decisive. No filler, no grinding, just meaningful tactical scenarios.

Each unit begins with a core role:

  • Attacker

  • Sniper

  • Warship

  • Medic

But how they function is defined by how you build them. Customize their abilities, movement, and equipment. Whether your ships are armed with overwhelming firepower, impenetrable defense, or a focus on a balance, you have complete control on how you upgrade and manage your fleet.

Combat System

Abilities consume two key resources: Energy and Charge.

Stronger abilities can strike multiple targets, break enemy formations, or do massive damage. But every action comes with a cost. Success depends on managing your resources and choosing the right tradeoffs at the right moment.

    New Demo and Feature

New Feature AddedOne critique that came up a few times was that the player would need to restart every battle after seeing the enemy formation. I had originally gave short descriptions of what was coming up but it didn't quite work how I wanted it to. Because of that, I added a preview before each battle to avoid players unnecessarily restarting just to see the enemy formations. This feature has been added to the Demo and is available now!Another quick update I wanted to mention is rebalanced items, enemies, and players in the late game. Previously, certain items could break the game by either making it too easy or too hard. That issue has been fixed so the game remains fun and challenging throughout the entire campaign. The game will be releasing November 9!

    Devlog 4 - August 3, 2026

I realized that I hadn't posted a devlog in a while and wanted to update everyone. As of last weekend, I finished developing the game! I'll be honest, I'm a little surprised I finished it months ahead of schedule, but everything came together without any major issues. Over the next couple weeks, a few people will be testing it and trying to do everything they can to break the game in case I miss something. But I'm giving myself a break this week so I can test everything next week with fresh eyes. Below are my current plans for the release of SableSyn Protocol:Release date: November 9, 2026Price: $5.99 (with a launch week discount)18 fast-paced tactical battlesWill be part of the October Nextfest (and hopefully additional ones as well)If you haven't played it yet, check out the demo.As it gets closer to the release date, I'll continue to update everyone on changes, new additions, and take feedback to make it the best I can!

Below is a list of improvements that were fixed for the Demo:The ships are brighter. When selecting "Retry", you are now brought back to the Battle Prep screen. Previously, it simply restarted the battle without allowing you to make any changes to positioning or equipment.Stats and enemies have been rebalanced. How dialogue is displayed during battles has been changed. Characters are no longer blocking large portions of the screen/covering any ships when speaking.Typos have been fixed.

    Devlog 2 - June 4, 2026

The past two weeks have mainly been about polishing and refining the game, like making certain battles shorter. A couple big things I've improved were reopening the Prep Screen when you restart a battle and the option to buy items while in the Prep Screen. Prior to this, you would have to exit to the main menu and load the game to get back into that screen. After that was pointed out to me, I had a facepalm moment.I also finished the story last week. I still need to put everything into the game and make sure it's compelling and interesting, but I'm actually ahead of where I planned to be at this point! My goal for the next couple of weeks are to finish the Demo and continue testing and refining everything I've done up to this point. The demo is still planned for the end of June with all the improvements I'm mentioning. The Playtest will continue to be available until the Demo is released.Feel free to post any feedback, questions, or ideas on this page. I read everything and take all feedback seriously.
