About this game

————— A NEW VISION OF HORROR —————

An unflinching examination of gaming's ever-present relationship with violence and the machinery of warfare. This game will not pull punches or ignore the tragic cost of conflict. Player actions have consequences.

This is not a power fantasy. There is no heroism here. The boundary between simulation and reality is collapsing. There is only the next instruction.

————— WHAT THIS IS —————

War Fantasy is a psychological horror first-person shooter about the merging of war video games and real war.

You are dropped into an infinite military training compound. Your commanding officer watches. He instructs. He corrects. He grooms. Every shot you fire, every order you follow, every moment you hesitate is logged and fed back into a system designed with one purpose: to turn you into an attack dog.

Navigate surreal, impossible spaces built from the architecture of the military industrial complex: corridors that loop, training simulations with no exits, war factories that sprawl endlessly. Wield the latest in modern firearms that feel real because the game needs you to believe they are. And listen closely to the voice that never stops watching, never stops conditioning, and always wants to see you suffer.

The twisted offspring of Spec Ops: The Line and The Stanley Parable. An infinitely looping Black Mirror episode with no escape. War Fantasy draws a straight line from Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket to the first-person shooter genre and asks: what have games been training us for, and what does the future of war games look like?

————— WHAT YOU WILL DO —————

█ Embrace technophobia in a branching & looping dark war narrative where your behavior is recorded, analyzed, and weaponized against you

█ Move through twisted, kaleidoscopic environments that collapse and reassemble around you as you confront the real-world history the game doesn't want you to know

█ Handle a realistic modern arsenal: firearms, drones, & near-future-tech modelled with authentic detail, because authenticity is part of the conditioning

█ Uncover the full architecture of the system trapping you, if you still want to escape once you understand it

    AUGUST 2026 Development Update

Tin soldiers and Nixon coming We're finally on our own This summer I hear the drumming Four dead in Ohio - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young Work Update Still up to my neck in planning, budgeting, and scoping. Many potential partners have reached out with interest in War Fantasy. The challenge now is to discern which of them truly share the vision. In the meantime I'll be sending a few rounds down range for "research". Nobody wants to hear my opinion, they want to hear yours There's a hierarchy when it comes to source material. Films and other video games have clearly had an influence on War Fantasy, but documentaries and non-fiction literature have been the anchor.Yet, all interpretations bring with them some dilution and they do not compare to direct first-hand accounts and testimony. Therefore, if you've served in a military, lived through conflict, researched war or the effects of media, worked in the defense industry, or, like me, contributed to the modern war-gaming industry, and you have something to share, then I'd be honored to listen.Especially if you think I’m getting something wrong. Your input will help make War Fantasy be a little less fictional (i.e. full of shit). Thank you for the wishlistsFor 9 years I said you were out there. They believe me now.I still have a lot to prove, but you are the audience, and I will only bow to you. - Nathan TranNon-EuclideanP.S. If you haven’t already, please consider wishlisting the game. Even still, it genuinely makes a difference. If you want to follow the journey more closely, join the Discord.

    JULY 2026 Development Update

And can you tell me, doctor, why I still can't get to sleep? And night time's just a jungle dark and a barking M16? And what's this rash that comes and goes? Can you tell me what it means? God help me I was only nineteen- Redgum 30,000 WishlistsOut-fucking-standing.Thank you. Sincerely.I will not take your attention for granted. Each wishlist feels like a personal promise from me to you to deliver an unforgettable game. ProgressA short update this month, everyone. There’s a lot happening behind the scenes right now, though much of it isn’t the sexy, exciting stuff that makes for great updates.A few key highlights:We’re preparing to begin conversations with interested publishers. We recently met with our production director advisor, who has helped us refine our production plan.A number of other advisors are continuing to provide guidance and feedback. We’re in ongoing discussions with potential co-development partners who could bring significant additional talent and resources to the project.External agencies are reviewing our prototype to help us better understand where we stand and where we can improve. We’re experimenting with some technology that may (no promises!) be used in the game (see thumbnail). If you haven’t already, please consider wishlisting the game. Even still, it genuinely makes a difference. And if you want to follow the journey more closely, join our Discord to stay connected. — Nathan TranNon-Euclidean

    JUNE 2026 Development Update

Cinema, simulated life, ill drama Fourth Reich culture, Americana Chained to the dream they got ya searchin' for The thin line between entertainment and war- Rage Against The MachineHello My name is Nathan Tran. I'm the creative director of War Fantasy, and for nearly a decade this project has been my dream. I started this project as a programming student in 2017 when I made the concept demo pictured above. Since then, I have fought to keep the project alive however possible. To be clear: the trailer you have likely seen was not the product of a studio with resources, but instead a call to arms made by a handful of developers without proper funding.Where Things StandThroughout development, I will be as transparent with you as possible. Currently, War Fantasy is in a partially playable state with years of work existing half in-engine and half on a drawing board. The main blocker, for all of those years, has been funding.Simply put: people with money won't take a bet on a project like this unless the numbers force them to. They need to see the metrics. Without your wishlists and shares, this game doesn't get greenlit. On Timelines and PatienceCurrently I'm assembling the team and revising the budget and development plan. Doors that were closed are starting to open because of your attention on this project. Thanks to you we now have a fighting chance. But I want to be honest: this is still going to take time.I intend to give War Fantasy the time it needs, not just to be a good game, but to be a great one. My goal is not quick shock value or a flash-in-the-pan, and I have no intention of rushing it to capitalize on current world events or market trends. My goal is to make something that endures for decades through complete commitment & dedication to its subject matter. So I'm asking for your patience. This project has been a fight every single day for nine years. It will continue to be, but I refuse to stop. Monthly UpdatesThis is the first of monthly development updates....
