About this game

Not My Son is a first-person psychological horror game with a tense, suffocating atmosphere.

You are a man who has recently married and is left alone with his wife’s son for the first time. What should have been a quiet few days turns into something far more unsettling. The boy rejects you completely — every word, every action irritates him. He watches you, judges you, and seems to understand more than he should.

At first, you try to build a connection and act like a real family, brushing off small, unsettling moments. But as time passes, the boy’s behavior grows more disturbing, and the house begins to feel increasingly wrong. Through exploration, you uncover fragments of the past that slowly begin to form a bigger, more troubling picture.

Not My Son is a story about fear, rejection, and the fragile bond between a parent and a child. A slow descent into unease, where every discovery brings you closer to an answer you may not be ready to face.

    Development Update: Recent Improvements

Hi everyone!I want to share some of the progress I’ve made on the game recently. Some weeks there isn’t much worth showing, while others are full of fixes, improvements, and noticeable progress. Game development is a complicated process, and you really can’t have one without the other. This isn’t everything I’ve changed or added, but these are some of the things that came up most often in feedback about the demo. Here’s what has been fixed or added recently:The main menu now has a settings menuThe settings now work correctly both in-game and from the main menuAdded zoom to the right mouse button. It’s a mechanic you can find in many games in this genre, and I think it will make it easier to look closely at details in the environmentAdded more light sources and made some of them slightly brighter. The game really did feel too dark in some places, so there should be a better balance nowReduced the amount of blur. It now feels more natural, and a larger part of the screen stays in focusI know that the biggest criticism of the demo was its length, so I’m doing my best to make sure the full game is at least an hour long, and I’m actively working on that right now.At the same time, it’s important to me that this hour is packed with events and doesn’t feel stretched out or boring. There’s still a lot of work ahead, but every week I can see the game becoming better and closer to what I want it to be.Thanks for waiting, Tim

Not My Son Is Part of Ukrainian Games Festival 2026

Hi everyone! Not My Son is taking part in Ukrainian Games Festival 2026The festival runs from August 17 to 24 and brings together hundreds of games created by Ukrainian developers — from already released titles to upcoming projects and demos. It’s a great opportunity to discover Ukrainian games and the people making them.I’m very happy to be part of the festival and to see Not My Son alongside so many great games. The game is being developed in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine — a city I deeply care about and hope to continue living and creating in, no matter the circumstances.Work on the full version is now in full swing. The feedback from the demo has been carefully reviewed and has already helped clarify what worked well and, more importantly, what needs improvement. A lot has been learned from it, and those lessons are now being used to ensure the full game avoids the same issues. There are many ideas for Not My Son in development, and my efforts are focused on bringing them to life. The results should become visible closer to release. More updates will follow soon!Enjoy the festival, everyone!Tim

Thank You to Everyone Who Played the Demo!

200 Players Have Tried the DemoHello everyone! The demo has now been played by over 200 people. While that may not sound like a huge number, it means a lot to me. This is only my second game and my first 3D project, so it's incredibly rewarding to see people from around the world trying it and sharing their thoughts.Feedback and Lighting IssuesOne of the most common pieces of feedback was about the lighting being too dark. After looking into it, I believe this is largely caused by differences in graphics settings between computers. In some cases, certain effects may be disabled, making the game significantly darker than intended. This is something I will definitely address. I also plan to add proper graphics settings and improve the overall lighting system. While I intentionally wanted parts of the level to feel dark since the game takes place at night, I noticed that in some situations the visuals become much darker than expected. I'll be working on this over the coming weeks by improving the lighting and adding additional light sources where needed.About the Full VersionThe full version of the game will be significantly more polished and ambitious than the demo. The feedback I've received has already been extremely helpful in identifying what needs improvement and what aspects of the experience resonate most with players. The good news is that the foundation for the project is already in place. Most of the locations are planned out, and the story is close to being fully written. After completing the first level, I have a much better understanding of how to approach the rest of the game and how to make it a stronger and more complete experience. My goal is for the full game to be around one to one and a half hours long. The price will remain relatively low, so the focus is not on length but on creating dense, atmospheric environments, memorable moments, and scares that feel genuinely effective.Thank YouThank you to everyone who played the demo, left feedback, added th...

    The demo is finally available!

Hello everyone! I'm finally happy to share some good news: the demo is out!As usual, I ran into some issues during the publishing process. Even though I spent several sleepless nights trying to get everything ready for Steam Next Fest, I submitted the demo page too late and only managed to release it now. I was really disappointed, but it's a good lesson for the future. The important thing is that the demo is finally here, and I really hope you enjoy it. This is not the final version of the game, just a small part designed to give you a taste of the atmosphere and the story. If you encounter any bugs or have suggestions, please let me know. And don't forget to leave feedback on the demo page!Thank you so much for your support and for taking the time to read this. Have fun playing, and enjoy Steam Next Fest! Tim

Not My Son Has Been Announced

The idea for Not My Son came from a scene I saw in a movie or TV show years ago. A man was meeting the child of his future wife, and everything seemed to be going well between them. But I remember thinking: what if the child was the real source of danger? What if he slowly started driving his stepfather insane?I wrote the idea down and kept coming back to it. It felt like a fresh setup for a horror story and gave me a lot of room to explore themes like fear, rejection, and family relationships. Over time, I began developing the characters, their motivations, and the events behind the story, eventually turning that simple idea into Not My Son. Over the past few months, I've been working on creating a tense and unsettling experience focused on atmosphere, exploration, and psychological horror. As you spend more time inside the house, you'll begin to notice increasingly strange events and uncover the truth behind the boy's behavior. Not My Son is a story about fear, rejection, and the fragile bond between parent and child. The game aims to deliver a concentrated horror experience that can be completed in about an hour. The announcement trailer is now available on YouTube, and I'd love to hear what you think about it.I can't wait to show more in the coming weeks!
