About this game

Delphine and Cynthia return in a Cold War Mystery

Investigate what happened to your friend Arthur Birdwhistle, a highly decorated MI6 officer who has vanished without a trace. He was last heard from in a phone box in West Berlin. The morning after the president died. The call was cut short.

Green Mist over Portland is a standalone sequel to The Red Pearls of Borneo. You can play it on its own, but the first case is free on Steam if you want to meet Delphine first.

Play as two women on opposite sides of the same investigation: Delphine, the clairvoyant who can step into the past and witness events as they happened and Cynthia, the MI5 field agent who must interrogate suspects and discover clues deep within the MI6 secret archives.

The investigation will take you on a globe-trotting adventure following a trail of spies from a quiet English harbour town to a frozen Finnish fishing village and the corridors of an intelligence service rotten at its core.

Inspired by Return of the Obra Dinn, The Case of the Golden Idol and The Roottrees Are Dead

Dev Diary - A new look and update on game progress

Hello, Investigators! As you will have noticed, we have changed the keyart to reflect better the themes and mood of the game being a Noir Detective game set during the cold war. Alongside these changes, I wanted to give you an update on how the game is coming along and a sense of just how big it's become. As it stands, Green Mist over Portland has over 200 events to unlock across 60 locations, with more than 50 characters to encounter along the way. The story spans from Cynthia's earliest days as a young spy through to deep conspiracies and murders at the height of the Cold War. On top of that, there are over 100 documents waiting to be found in the MI6 Archive, plus full glossary entries about the real-world events that inspired the story for those of you who like to dig into every detail. Some of these glossary entries include material straight from top-secret documents that have since been declassified, which I've personally read in private reading rooms at the British National Archives. As far as I know, some of this material has never been digitised before. I have listened and spent some time revising the UI and adding more tutorials for the early game hurdles to provide players with a smoother experience. There's still more to come, but the shape of the full game is here now, and it's bigger than I ever originally planned. To celebrate, an updated version of the demo with more events, more characters and the updated tutorials will be available soon to everyone

Dev Diary - A New Mechanic for Identifying Characters

Hello, Investigators! Our development work is continuing steadily, and today we would like to share more details about a new ability that Delphine has gained in Green Mist Over Portland. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRV_B6ImF6k As shown in the preview video, in addition to further polishing and optimizing the previous UI, the most important improvement is the introduction of a new character identification mechanic. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/46101949/4168863aab8fdc67d37c1e68f2b762ae8997cd1a.jpg Now, as long as you correctly select all participants involved in a conversation within a scene, including strangers, Delphine will be able to detect partial echoes and perceive the true order of the dialogue. The twist is that, until the information of a “Stranger” has been fully unlocked, you still won’t be able to hear what they are saying. We believe this new mechanic will make conversations feel more natural and logical, while also making the process of identifying characters smoother and more intuitive. Moving forward, we will continue refining the overall player experience and polishing every aspect of the game. Thank you for your continued support, and we wish everyone all the best!

Steam Next Fest Recap and What Comes Next

Hello investigators, Steam Next Fest has now come to an end, and I just want to say thank you. It has been wonderful to see so many people playing the demo, discussing the story, streaming their playthroughs, and sharing their thoughts. The amount of support from players went far beyond what I expected, and I was also really happy to see the game included by several YouTubers and gaming outlets in their lists of favorite demos from the festival. That truly means a lot. I’ve also been reading through the feedback carefully. Many players were happy to see familiar faces such as Tweety, Stanley, and Lune return, and I’m glad that the back-and-forth between Delphine and Cynthia landed well. The new features, such as visiting and exploring locations, were also seen as strong additions to the experience. A lot of players also seemed to enjoy how quickly the story gets moving, without a long introduction, as well as the way the mystery unfolds throughout the demo. I was especially pleased to see the reaction to the twist at the end. Of course, there are still things that need work. The Cypher puzzle was a little more divisive, with some players really enjoying it and others not connecting with it as much. I’ll be refining it further before the final release to find the right balance. The UI also needs more polish so the overall experience feels as smooth and clear as possible. As for the full game, development is now well underway. The demo represents only a small part of the experience I’m building. The complete game will feature more than 200 events to uncover across multiple maps, with a cast of over 30 characters. These characters will be connected through the kind of character-first storytelling that fans of Red Pearls expect, set against a Cold War world full of espionage, secrets, and personal stories. Over the coming months, my focus will be on expanding the story, refining the investigation systems, and incorporating the lessons learned from player feedback during...

"Green Mist over Portland" Surpasses 20,000 Wishlists!

Dear Investigators, Thank you so much for your incredible support—we couldn't have made it this far without you! "Green Mist over Portland" has officially surpassed 20,000 wishlists on Steam, and we are hoping to reach even more players! Have you had a chance to play our demo yet? Over the past few days, we've rolled out several updates based on your feedback and are continuously working to optimize the game and fix any issues. We hope you can see the effort we are putting in! Today, we have updated the game with a special bonus reward. If you have collected all available content in the demo (players who have already finished the demo can simply hit "Continue" to access it), a brand new "Next Morning" button will appear at the end. Clicking it will reveal special dialogue and unique story hints, giving you an early sneak peek into the plot of the full game. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/46101949/2463ce6ff383c295408636cc887963421e746a9f.png Please keep in mind that this is still just a demo, and the real story has yet to fully unfold. If you are coming straight from the ending of "The Red Pearls of Borneo", we ask for your patience—the limited scope of a demo simply cannot deliver a fully complete narrative just yet. "Green Mist over Portland" is expected to feature a story twice the size of "The Red Pearls of Borneo", along with more engaging puzzles (we are working hard to make sure they are genuinely fun!). Unlike "The Red Pearls of Borneo", "Green Mist over Portland" will introduce a new stage and a new tone. However, it will absolutely retain the same delicate atmosphere, in-depth character development, and rich narrative. We know exactly what you expect from us, and that is exactly what we are focusing on. Wishing you all the best!
