The label is buying up your city block, and they built a fake MC to replace the real ones. You're the one who wouldn't sign. A 90s hip-hop horde survivor: auto-fire weapons, stack drip, level mixtapes, and beat the Industry Plant.

About this game

The block raised you. The cypher made you. Now a major record label wants to replace you.  BonkCity has the spirit of legendary rougelike games like Vampire Survivors, MegaBonk and other legends of the auto-fire genre but in a casual, arcade quick play type of format.

BonkCity, mid-90s. The Industry has flooded your corner with posers biting your style, hired off-duty cops as private muscle, and put A&R suits on every stoop signing MCs to soul-killing deals. Their endgame is the Industry Plant — a focus-grouped, ghostwritten, label-built fake "MC" designed to bury the real scene. You're the MC who refused to sign. Survive the wave, work up the food chain, and take the fake down in person.

A run lasts 14 minutes. If you're good, it doesn't end there.

Weapons fire on their own — your job is everything else. Pick your lanes when you level, pop chests for drip, capture cell towers for permanent run buffs, and spend your dollars before you die, because you can't take them with you. At 3:00 an A&R suit named Turnpike Tony comes to scout you. At 14:00 the Industry Plant arrives with three phases and no respect. Beat him and you can cash out — or keep going into the Eternal Cypher, where the Industry sends its real heavyweights and survival turns into score.

Build your sound

  • 4 playable MCs, each with their own movement and signature weapon — dash, lime-green scooter, skateboard, or a swarm of bees

  • 17 weapons, from The Mic and Turntables to the Attack Dog and the Block Rocker

  • 10 evolutions: pair the right weapon with the right gear and watch it become something rude

  • 12 mixtapes, 30 drip items, 40 Rep Quests, and 10 Beef challenge runs that remix the rules

Four ways to play

Standard is the classic arcade run. The Daily Block gives everyone on Earth the same seed for 24 hours, one best run, one leaderboard. Endless removes the clock and keeps stacking difficulty. And every run produces a Bonk Code — a short string that encodes the seed, character, and loadout. Send it to a friend and they play your exact hand. Beating someone's run with their own cards is the purest trash talk there is.

Plays anywhere

Offline-first: the Daily map caches locally and scores submit when you reconnect. Full controller and keyboard/mouse support, remappable everything, scalable UI, colorblind-friendly silhouettes, optional screen-shake reduction.

Early Access

The whole core is in at day one: all four modes, the full arsenal, the boss, leaderboards, and Bonk Codes. During Early Access we're adding more weapons and evolutions, a second boss for Endless, and seasonal daily events. Built by 44G, a tiny team. No battle pass, no microtransactions — you buy it, you own it.

Content notice: stylized cartoon violence, no gore, no real-world branding. BonkCity is a tribute to an era.

    The streets fight different

🚦 The streets stop being a funnel — We rebuilt where enemies come from. Posers now close in around you — from behind buildings, around corners, out of the cross-streets — instead of pouring down one alley in a single conga line. Standing in a doorway shredding a river of bodies was a farm, not a fight. Now the block itself is the encounter. (Plus fixes for a pressure-spike hitch and a death-screen freeze.)🎬 Your first minutes got a glow-up — Live combo counter, XP gems that vacuum in, a Gold Record that lands like a needle drop, a death screen that names how close you were at the 3:00 wall and slams you into RUN IT BACK, and your first Block Spot signposted with a free bag on the opening path.📅 Daily Block opens sooner — unlocks after your first finished run, win or lose. The Daily is the fun part; gating it behind a victory was backwards.🎮 Controller rumble + keyboard rebinding — rumble with an Options toggle, full rebinding under Options → CONTROLS, and screen shake restored where it had quietly gone missing.🃏 Your collection looks collectible — level-up picks, pack opens, and the binder got the trading-card treatment.♿ Text scaling that actually scales — up to 1.5× across the Rap Sheet, Liner Notes, run picker, pause menu, and tutorial — plus a fix for the Daily card cutting off your Yesterday/Today/PB line at every size.⚡ Horde-window performance pass — nine rounds of under-the-hood work so the frame rate holds when 80 posers rush you at minute nine.🔧 Also fixed — Cypher points no longer leak into your next run's leaderboard score; mid-run quest popups removed; boss-timing copy corrected; run results queue and retry offline. The demo is updated to this build too. Something feel off? Tell us on the community hub or the Discord — the last three updates all started as player reports. Keep bonking. 🥁

    Early Access Release

BonkCity is out now in Early Access The block is now open. BonkCity is live on Steam for $4.99, Windows and macOS, and every update from here to 1.0 is free to anyone who buys in now. If you played the Next Fest demo back in June: this is not that build. Here's what is different. Your build is a build now The biggest change. Weapons used to be a pile of damage sources you happened to own. Now they belong to five archetypes — Boom Bap, Block Party, Chain Reaction, Posse Up, and Set It Off. Equip two or more members and the archetype comes online, with its own proc, its own sound, and a badge row that tells you it's actually firing. That means drafting is a decision instead of a shrug. You can chase a specific identity from level one, or pivot at minute eight when the offers break your way. Weapon upgrades are now granular and single-axis — you pick what gets better, not a vague "+1 level" Stat perks moved into paid bags, and repeat offers get deduped, so the draft stops showing you the same card three times Banish lets you throw away an offer you don't want — three per run, and it's on the controller too Setlist Focus reserves slots in your final offer for the stats you've been committing to Every run starts with a reason Tonight's Set is a daily commitment card: one character, one featured beef, one archetype goal. Land all three in the same run and you cash a 250 Stacks bonus on top of the beef's own payout. It rotates on a fixed 5-day cycle, so every archetype comes up regularly instead of the two you already like. The Heat Start Wager lets you arm a higher starting Heat before you drop in — more pressure from minute zero, and a win counts at the Heat you won it at. There's also an evolution chase so the goal shelf never runs empty, and stalled archetypes now have a reachable completion instead of sitting at 80% forever. The Street A whole new district built on city-grid generation — real blocks, building frontages along the north wall, landmark points of interest...

BonkCity Update — Find Your Sound (v0.55.0)

New ContentFind Your Sound — Weapon ArchetypesEvery weapon now belongs to one of five archetypes, each with its own synergy that kicks in once you commit to it:Chain Reaction (Combo Meter) — landing hits with 2+ Chain Reaction weapons builds a stacking damage bonus (up to +20%) that decays if you stop connecting.Set It Off (Headliner) — with 2+ Set It Off weapons equipped, your crits get a chance to trigger a bonus recast hit.Posse Up (Backup Singers) — your summons and companions back each other up, biting harder when they're working the same target.Boom Bap (On Beat) — Spray Can and Paint Roller share a beat counter; every 4th hit triggers a "drop" — a satisfying freeze-frame and a damage bonus on your next swing.Block Party (Cypher Circle) — overlap two or more Block Party weapons' zones on the same target and watch the damage bonus build the longer you keep the circle going. The level-up cards you're offered now lean into whichever archetype your build is committing to, and a new SETLIST HUD chip tracks your progress toward it mid-run.All-Time LeaderboardThe All-Time board is finally live — it tracks your single best run across every Daily Bonk you've ever played, so early climbers have a real ranking to chase.Gameplay ChangesWeapon unlocks: Ten weapons — Pager, Lit Soda, Paint Roller, Bucket Drum, Spray Can, BoomBlaster, Turntables, Gold Chain, Boom Box, and Nuthin' But a G Thang — are now unlocked by completing specific Rep Quests instead of being available from the jump.
