About this game
Survive to Save is a narrative-driven text survival game set in a world consumed by a sudden zombie outbreak.
You play as a 40-year-old scientist - a lonely man who spent his life studying, not surviving.
But now, survival is no longer optional.
What starts as an ordinary day quickly turns into a nightmare.
The city is collapsing. The infected are everywhere. And the only thing standing between humanity and extinction… is you.
Your goal is not just to survive.
Reach the laboratory. Find others. Create a community.
Create a cure.
GAME FEATURES
1. Make decisions that influence your story and shape who you become. What would you do in this situation? Discover where your choices will lead.
2. Survive alone… or build a community that will help you stay alive. Every playthrough is unique.
3. Take risks or play it safe. The fate of humanity is in your hands - but your own life comes first. What are you willing to sacrifice, and for whom, to survive?
4. Deal with everyday survival needs: food, water, and resources. But don’t forget - you are a scientist. You may be the only chance to save the world… or not.
5. Combine found items to unlock new possibilities and story paths.
6. Choose wisely what to take with you and what to leave behind. Your inventory is limited.

Hello, survivors!Today I want to talk about the replayability of the game. But first, once again, a little about the editor. My husband was a bit upset after the last devblog. "Unprofessional! Unacceptable!" he grumbled when he saw the editor interface in the devblog. After all, it was made just for me and was never meant to be shown publicly. It was built so that everything would be clear and convenient for me, and most importantly so that everything would work. Aesthetics didn't matter. But since I started showing off all this "beauty" in devblogs, he decided to completely redesign the interface so there would be nothing to be ashamed of. And here's what came of it:Yes, it looks amazing now. Though it took a lot of time and the demo version got delayed a little. But now I can visually demonstrate the replayability of the game to you. In the new interface I can zoom out on the dialogues to a very great distance. This is what the second day of our story looks like:As you can see, you can have different paths, many choices - and that's not all. Because in each dialogue window the text of your story changes depending on the presence of flags. You remember what flags are from the last devblog, right? As you can see in the image above, depending on your flags, different text will be displayed. But despite all this variety, it might still seem like the game is fairly linear. In a way that's true. For example, your initial goal is to reach the laboratory. And that can't be changed. Even so, we have 5 different ways to do it. Once you reach the laboratory, you'll have to "clear" it - and that can't be changed either. Events will repeat themselves, but you can choose the paths through them. And from the fourth day onwards you can really spread your wings. Because starting from that day you will choose what to do yourself. Your hero will be given the opportunity to complete two tasks per day - one major and one minor. You choose what to do on which day. And depending on the cho...Read full article on Community Announcements (Lazy Cat Game Studio)AnnouncementsOfficial

Hello, survivors! On today's agenda - the editor. This is where the game's story is created. In available editors like Twine the game ends up too linear and boring. So my husband built a custom editor for me. When used properly its possibilities are virtually limitless. You can create a story so complex you'll get lost in it yourself. The main work in the editor revolves around Flags. These are something like conditions. There can be any number of them and depending on their presence or absence the story changes.Video about working with flags. An equally important category is items. If you have no weapon, you will die. If you have no food or water, the story will repeat itself. Items can be either single-use or reusable. That's why in our game what you have in your inventory is very important.Video about working with items. These are the two core functions of the editor that the entire game is mainly built around. But that's far from all. For example we can set a hidden timer that will trigger after a certain number of turns - looks like you didn't manage to switch on the backup generator in time and the laboratory exploded with you inside. Or for example remove items not only from the inventory but from storage as well. Oh no, we've been robbed! All of this makes the story richer and more engaging.Work on the editor is 99% complete and the remaining 1% is reserved for my future crazy ideas, should any come along. We are currently working on the game's features and once they are fully polished, all that will be left before the demo release is the translation.Game video. At first glance our game looks very simple, but I hope its possibilities and story will pleasantly surprise you. If you have questions - don't hesitate. We'll be happy to answer them. See you later!Read full article on Community Announcements (Lazy Cat Game Studio)AnnouncementsOfficial

Hello, survivors!Today I want to share with you my story of creating Survive to Save. The game is being developed by two people from Latvia - a husband and wife. Budget - 0. To begin with, let's go very far back into the past. How the desire to create my own game was bornKaveori: One day I came to my cousin's birthday party. The gift they got him was extremely strange - a so-called computer. He was screaming with joy, and I was seeing this miracle of nature for the first time. My cousin didn't get flustered and immediately taught me everything: "You need to register an email... Now you can play!" He downloaded and launched a game called Mu Online. That's when my eyes popped out of my head. Every time we came to visit, I couldn't tear myself away from his computer. And when he showed me RollerCoaster Tycoon - I secretly sat up all night playing it. From that moment on, the only thing my mom heard from me was: "buy me a computer." Even though it didn't happen right away, she did buy it. Along with a few games. Those were Caesar III and Riddle of the Sphinx. And later The Sims appeared in my life. That's when my mind completely went off the rails. It was at this very time that a burning desire to create my own game appeared, and it followed me throughout my entire life.Bziks: Back in the days of GPRS, when wap-games were popular, I liked one such game. I had absolutely no idea what programming was, I thought back then that if I copied all the pages of the game, I would be able to edit anything I wanted in it. But it turned out that it doesn't work that way, and I had to dive into the world of Web.The first attemptKaveori: I continued playing games and at the same time I was learning new things. One day I had my own server for Mu Online, and then for Counter-Strike 1.6. I was creating a website for them and persistently studying html and css. Everything was working out until the moment I touched php. What kind of monster is this? After numerous attempts, books, and even ...Read full article on Community Announcements (Lazy Cat Game Studio)AnnouncementsOfficial

We really want to get early feedback, criticism, and suggestions. The biggest thing we still need to do before the demo release is translate the game into English and Ukrainian. The game is not very big, but it has a lot of text. We will try to finish everything by Q4 2026, but we cannot promise it for sure.Follow the news on our Steam page and in our Discord channel.
