About this game

The Life You Missed is an atmospheric narrative game.

You arrive at a new property to renovate and sell an old house. Just another deal. But leaving this place isn’t so easy.

With each passing day, the house reveals a stranger’s life—through notes, photographs, and forgotten moments. Gradually, you begin to recognize yourself in them. A ginger cat, like a guide, appears by your side at the most important moments. During the day, you explore the house and its surroundings: the workshop, the grounds, the forest, and the lake. Each area is a separate layer of the story that unfolds through details. You examine objects, find the previous owner’s notes—his thoughts, memories, and observations. You compare his life to your own, noticing differences in how simple things are perceived.

You find old photographs and recreate scenes from the past, repeating the actions captured in them. Sit on a swing, walk out to the lake, stop at the right spot, watch the sunset. After that, the moments come to life—and you see how everything actually happened. You can record the protagonist’s thoughts on a voice recorder—his reactions, doubts, and attempts to make sense of what’s happening. You can return to these recordings later.

At night, the protagonist has dreams. These are pivotal moments in his life where you’ll have to make a choice. No hints. No right answers. Every decision reflects who you’ve become. And it’s these choices that determine the ending.

The Life You Missed – Release Date Update and New Game Details

Hello everyone! In June, I announced that The Life You Missed would be released on July 22nd. Unfortunately, I'm having to adjust the game's release date again. When planning, I underestimated the amount of work remaining and the time needed to complete development. I need more time to finish the project and prepare the game for release in the form I envision. The new estimated release date for The Life You Missed is Q3-Q4 2026.I understand this isn't the first time the date has changed, so I won't give a more precise date until I'm sure the game is truly ready for release.I'd also like to share a little more detail about what awaits you in the game. There won't be a single, predetermined path in The Life You Missed. Each player's story will unfold differently—based on their actions, decisions, and what they choose to focus on.In dreams, you'll play minigames and make choices that will gradually shape the protagonist's destiny. The ending may not be what the author intended—it will be a reflection of your playthrough. But this story is not only about the protagonist's fate. As you explore the old house and its surroundings, you will gradually learn what happened to the person who once lived here. Their letters, personal belongings, and traces left behind will help you piece together someone else's life and understand how it connects to the protagonist's present.Thank you to everyone who continues to wait for The Life You Missed for your understanding and patience. Finally, I'd like to leave you with a few questions.Do you think one choice can change your entire life?Do you believe that one story can have multiple correct endings? What is more important to you: the journey or the end result? And most importantly. do you think you can trust ginger cats? 😄

The Life You Missed — New Release Date and Demo Version

Friends, I want to share an important update regarding "The Life You Missed"The game’s release date has been pushed back to July 22.During development, it became clear that I had initially underestimated the scope of work and the time required to bring all my ideas to life. As is often the case with many new developers, reality turned out to be more challenging than my initial plans. It’s important to me to release the game with the quality it deserves, rather than rushing to meet a previously announced date. The extra time will allow me to polish the details, fix any flaws, and pay more attention to the elements that make this story truly special.Fortunately, the wait won’t be long.• On July 10, a demo version of The Life You Missed will be released, and you’ll be able to experience the game, its atmosphere, and its story for the first time.• The full version will be released on July 22.Thank you to everyone who is following the project, adding the game to their wishlist, and supporting its development. This is my first major project, and I sincerely hope it will be worth the wait.Thank you for your understanding and patience. See you very soon in The Life You Missed.

The Life You Missed is a story about the life we don't notice.

Hello everyone, my name is Nastya. And I'm creating this game not because I "wanted to make a game."But because at some point I caught myself thinking: I can live my life without even realizing it.That's how it all began.I'm currently a budding developer working on my first game, "The Life You Missed Out On." Honestly, this is a very exciting and important step for me.This is my first project, and it's much more personal than just a "game." The idea didn't come out of nowhere.Somewhere around 2022-2023, I began to develop a feeling that's hard to explain: in the pursuit of goals and results, you can imperceptibly miss out on life itself. Not just one moment, but entire years.I hesitated for a long time before taking any action. But at some point, I realized: if I don't try now, I never will. This is how The Life You Missed came to be—an atmospheric, story-driven story about a man who spent his entire life striving for success, but one day realized he'd missed the most important thing. In the game, you return to an old house to close another deal.A routine task. But gradually, this place begins to reveal the past—through notes, photographs, and memories. And at some point, you begin to see not only someone else's life, but also your own.During the day, you explore the house and its surroundings, recreating past events. At night, you dream, faced with choices. And it is this choice that will determine your final outcome. The main idea for me is very simple and very personal:happiness isn't in the final goal.It was always there—in the process, in the little things, in the moments we often overlook. The project is currently in active development, and it's both a joy and a fear.I really want the game to resonate with audiences. You'll be able to try it out soon:— the demo will be released in mid-June— the full release is planned for the end of June The game is also participating in the Games to Be festival, and it's a special occasion for me to show my work to players for the fir...
