About this game
Every stage hides a rule. Step wrong, and it all collapses.
Don't Step Wrong 2 is a logic puzzle game built around deduction, experimentation, and strategy. Navigate grids of numbered blocks, symbols, words, and patterns — each governed by a secret rule you must uncover through observation and trial and error. Step on the wrong block, and the board collapses. A new puzzle is generated — same logic, new values. Try again.
But you don't have to rely on deduction alone.
As you progress, unlock skills that change how you approach each stage, and collect items that reveal clues, protect your progress, or give you a strategic edge. There's more than one way to solve a puzzle in Don't Step Wrong 2 — find yours.
Demo available June 2026 — Full game coming December 2026.
Features
Logic puzzles governed by hidden rules — mathematical, sequential, symbolic, and beyond
A board that collapses on every wrong step, generating a new puzzle with the same underlying logic
Skills and items that open alternative strategies beyond pure deduction
Multiple zones and environments, each with a distinct visual theme and atmosphere
Gradually increasing complexity — from rules shown upfront to rules you must deduce entirely on your own
Achievements that reward zone mastery, speedrunning, item collecting, and even learning the hard way
How to Play
Move across adjacent or diagonal blocks to reach the final tile. Each stage has a hidden rule determining which blocks are valid. Early stages reveal the rule — later ones leave it for you to figure out. Step wrong and the board collapses, reshuffling the values while keeping the same logic. Use skills and items to tilt the odds in your favor.

Alpha.30: final characters, rebuilt jump physics, and the ruins
Six characters in the gameSince the original Don't Step Wrong, the game always ran with a single character. Alpha.30 brings all 6 characters with their final models and animations. Each one required individual calibration of physics, size and movement. Along the way, a number of cosmetic animation issues that had been piling up got fixed.Jump physics rebuiltThe jump mechanic was completely rewritten. The gravity-based approach gave way to kinematic movement, resulting in much more precise landings, especially when using Super Jump. The ruinsThe game's most recent zone got its visual composition. The setting evokes the remnants of a civilization that inhabited that place long ago. A purely cosmetic environment, with no connection to the stage rules.More from this buildSmoother scene transitions and support for disabling items and skills in specific stages.Read full article on Community Announcements (feriado.dev)AnnouncementsOfficial
Alpha.29: Sandy Desert, Fireflies and Atmosphere
Sandy Desert Gets 10 New StagesThe Sandy Desert zone just grew significantly. The team shipped 10 new stages this week, continuing to build out one of the game's most visually distinct areas.FirefliesThis one was genuinely fun to make. Fireflies have no role in gameplay at all. They just fly around. But we wanted the environments to feel alive, and static scenes only go so far. Each firefly is a small object with a pulsing light. Around it sits an invisible sphere. The team implemented two separate movement algorithms: one that makes the firefly orbit the sphere in smooth loops, and another that traces a figure-eight path. A clean transition between the two makes the movement read as random without actually being random. They are already in the Forest scenes and will spread to other zones gradually.Atmosphere and FogA subtle fog layer sitting just in front of the camera was added alongside the fireflies. It is barely noticeable on its own. The difference in how the scenes feel is surprisingly large for such a small addition.Visual and UI UpdatesNew visual effect for block locks Loot buttons now appear directly on the next stage popup Ghost grid added to the Marsh scene transition into the Ruins zoneNew icons for this version's featuresFixesSkills you already own no longer appear in the loot rollerGlobal volume profiles were missing from several stages. Devlog Alpha .28: 10 New Stages, Overhauled Loot System, and Marsh Progress
10 New Stages in the RuinsBuild alpha.28 is live, expanding the game world with 10 brand-new stages in the Ruins zone. These stages bring fresh logic challenges and layouts designed to push your deductive skills even further.A New Way to Earn RewardsWe have completely overhauled how rewards work. We moved away from the fixed reward of 10 blocks when clearing a stage for the first time. Now, a dynamic loot system takes its place, rolling a reward between 5 and 20 coins. The drop rate follows a probability curve, meaning it is much more common to get an amount closer to 5 coins, while pulling a full stack of 20 is a rare achievement. Additionally, there is a small chance to drop items, and an even lower probability to drop skills, ensuring that powerful abilities remain scarce so the game stays challenging.Swamp Progression and Character TestsOur work on the environment is moving fast. We have added several new models to build and shape the marsh scene, and the swamp atmosphere is really coming together. Along with the environment updates, we introduced a second character to the game. For now, this character is strictly for testing our character selection interface, which now features a real-time preview of your selected hero. We are still undecided on whether we will keep these two characters as they are or design completely new models in the near future. This choice will heavily depend on how project progression goes by the end of the year, and we will be looking closely at community feedback.Polishing the ExperienceTo wrap things up, we applied a solid layer of polish to the overall feel of the game. We adjusted the timing for jumping and landing animations to make movement smoother, added clear visual feedback when unlocking hints, and completely eliminated that annoying camera jitter that used to happen right at the start of a stage.Read full article on Community Announcements (feriado.dev)AnnouncementsOfficial
