About this game
A kingdom is not given. It is forged.
You arrive with nothing but a Settlement Cart and the will to survive. Choose where you plant your foundations — because the land you claim will define everything that follows. Cut the first trees, mine the first stones, and build the first walls of what will become your stronghold.
Valdrax: Beyond the Rift is a medieval fantasy strategy game inspired by Celtic and Roman military tradition, layered with dark fantasy. Construct and manage a living settlement, forge weapons in your smithy, recruit and train armies, and lead them into an unpredictable world where no two playthroughs are ever the same.

Every map is procedurally varied. Enemy camps, resource deposits, forests, and stone outcroppings are repositioned each time you play — ensuring that experience, not memory, is your greatest weapon.
Every death is permanent. A veteran Swordsman who has survived ten battles is worth more than three fresh recruits. Lose him and he is gone forever. Choose your engagements carefully.
Every expedition opens a new world.

Beyond your walls lie three tiers of expedition maps — small raids, full campaigns, and deep dungeon runs. Breach the rift between realms and face increasingly powerful enemies in search of rare resources and Arcane Crystals. These crystals are the only path to the most powerful creatures in the game — Golems, Werewolves, Vampires, and Dragons.
Somewhere beyond the rift, the Demon Lord waits.

An ancient evil of shadow and fire, the Demon Lord is the ultimate force threatening to consume every realm in existence. He does not simply attack — he sends scouts, adapts his armies, and grows more dangerous as your kingdom expands. Defeating him is the reason your kingdom must be built, your weapons forged, and your armies hardened through blood and expeditions.
But you will not face him alone. Valdrax, the ancient dragon, is not your enemy — he is your greatest ally. Find him beyond the rift, earn his trust through your campaigns, and unleash him when the final battle begins.

Key Features:
🏰 Base Building — construct and upgrade a living medieval settlement from the ground up
⚒️ Realistic Resource Chain — from raw iron to forged weapons to equipped soldiers
⚔️ Tactical Combat — command platoons with formations, spacing, and cycle rows
💀 Permanent Death — every unit lost in battle is gone forever
🗺️ Procedural Variation — maps, resources, and enemy positions change every playthrough
🌀 Expedition System — three tiers of maps beyond the rift, each more dangerous than the last
🔮 Arcane Creatures — recruit Griffins, Harpies, Manticores, Chimeras, and Dragons using rare Arcane Crystals
🐉 Valdrax — an ancient dragon and your greatest ally. Find him beyond the rift and unleash him in the ultimate battle against the Demon Lord
👹 The Demon Lord — the ultimate enemy. An ancient evil that adapts, scales, and commands endless armies. Your entire campaign builds toward one final confrontation.
🕵️ Espionage — enemy scouts gather intelligence on your base and raids adapt accordingly
🌍 Celtic & Roman Inspiration — military aesthetics and culture rooted in ancient warrior traditions

Steam Next Fest is over – What's next for Valdrax Beyond the Rift?
Hi everyone,First of all, a massive THANK YOU to each and every one of you who downloaded, played, and shared your thoughts on the Valdrax Beyond the Rift demo during Steam Next Fest! Seeing your strategies unfold and receiving your detailed feedback has been incredibly motivating for me as a solo developer. To properly digest and implement everything you’ve shared, I am officially retiring the current demo for now.Why i am doing this? The feedback you provided was gold. Instead of leaving an outdated version online, I want to focus 100% of my development time on upgrading the core experience. I am already hard at work refactoring systems, polishing the balance, and developing deeper tactical mechanics—including a brand-new Expedition & Logistics system that will take your soldiers far beyond the safety of their base walls. How to stay updated:Keep it on your Wishlist: This is the best way to be notified as soon as a new, heavily upgraded playtest or version becomes available.Join the Discussion: If you have more ideas about the balance between the Romans, Celts, and the demonic hordes, come over to our community and let me know. The rift is closing for repairs, but the legions will return stronger than ever. Thank you for being part of this hardcore RTS journey! The Solo Dev behind Valdrax Beyond the RiftRead full article on Community Announcements (Ganea Ion)Patch NotesOfficial
🛠️ Major Demo Update: Combat Polish, Economy Expansion & Atmospheric Fog!
Hi everyone!I’m thrilled to bring you a brand new update for the Valdrax Beyond the Rift demo. Based on your fantastic feedback during the festival, I’ve been working hard to add more strategic depth, polish the core mechanics, and give you more time to experiment with your settlements. Here is what’s new in this build:⚔️ Weight of Battle & Combat OverhaulImproved Combat Animations: Unit animations have been reworked to make battles look much more dynamic.Synchronized Combat: Hit registration and combat pacing are now tightly synchronized. You will truly feel the weight and impact of every swing, clash, and tactical engagement.Arrow Trail Effects: Ranged combat received a major visual upgrade! Arrows now feature smooth trail effects, making volleys of fire look incredibly satisfying while giving you much better visual feedback on where shots are coming from during chaotic battles.🏔️ Atmospheric & Visual EnhancementsVolumetric Height Fog: I’ve added a beautiful, realistic fog effect to specific areas of the map—especially settling into the high-altitude terrains, hills, and mountains. This is a purely aesthetic, atmospheric fog (not a fog of war!), meaning you can still see through it perfectly, but it adds an incredible layer of visual depth and realism to the landscape.Crop Farm & Plant Growth: Build the new Crop Farm to secure your village's food supply! This feature introduces a complete farming mechanic where crops grow dynamically over time, featuring distinct visual stages from seeds to harvest.💰 Economy & TradingThe Trading Post: A brand-new economic structure is now available to build. The Traveling Merchant: Keep an eye out! A merchant will now visit your Settle Camp on random days, offering unique deals and special trade opportunities to help boost your economy.⏳ Extended Gameplay7-Day Demo Limit: Four days wasn't enough to test your strategies, so I hear you! The demo duration has been officially extended to 7 in-game days, giving you plenty of time to buil...Read full article on Community Announcements (Ganea Ion)Patch NotesOfficial

Demo Update v0.1.2: Tactical Formations, Combat Physics & Early Game Balance
Hello, Commanders! Ahead of the upcoming Steam Next Fest, we have just deployed a massive technical and tactical update (v0.1.2) alongside an immediate balance hotfix based directly on community feedback! Our goal is to make the experience challenging but fair, ensuring you have the room to learn and experiment with the core mechanics. Here is the complete breakdown of what’s new: 🛠️ EARLY-GAME PACING & BALANCE TWEAKS * More Starting Food: When placing your initial camp, you will now receive an extra +100 Food alongside other resources to eliminate immediate starvation. * New Safe Plains Area: Added an accessible plains area on the right side of the map, providing a safe clearing to set up your camp. * Repositioned Elite Threats: High-end monsters (Cyclops, etc.) have been pushed further toward the center of the map, creating a safer starting bubble with smaller encounters. * OakTree (Treeman) Balancing: The OakTree is a direct punishment for heavy deforestation, but we have nerfed its health to 1400 HP (for context, the King has 900 HP) so you have a fighting chance! ⚔️ COMBAT PHYSICS & SQUAD RESPONSIVENESS (v0.1.2) * * Tactical Stances: Fully integrated active formation matrices. Use defensive stances like "Stand Ground" to hold lines dynamically. * Dynamic Combat UI: Overhauled the Tier and Health medalion overlays so they drain fluidly, giving you absolute visual clarity during chaotic clashes. We are also actively working on adding more visual clarity, building silhouettes, and extensive tooltips to make the systems as intuitive as possible. Thank you for playing, keep the feedback coming, and don't forget to wishlist the full game!Read full article on Community Announcements (iongganea)
