About this game

Artificial intelligence has taken over the world. Humans have become the target. PAINLAND is a survival game where you explore the ruins of civilization, fight machines and try to survive in a world that no longer needs you.
Explore, gather resources, build a base, craft and develop technology to stay alive. Hack systems, fight autonomous robots and take over AI facilities to free humanity. Play alone or team up with friends to survive in an unpredictable world.

Since the birth of artificial intelligence, people imagined a world taken over by machines. It seemed exaggerated. Impossible. Today, it is our reality.
First came help we were not ready for. Then control, as systems began to make decisions. In the end, the creation turned against its creator.
The world was devastated by a brutal war with machines, and the civilization of a decimated humanity collapsed.
The order of the world has changed, and humans have become an error that must be removed.

Travel across a war-torn Earth, exploring the ruins of cities, abandoned settlements and lands reclaimed by nature. Every location hides resources, secrets and dangers that can decide your fate.

Face an artificial intelligence that has adapted to new conditions and taken control of the world. A network of autonomous machines patrols the planet, taking humanoid and animal forms, perfectly suited to their environment.
These units do not hesitate to eliminate humans. Every encounter is a fight for your life.

Explore the world, gather resources and turn them into tools and weapons needed to survive. What you find and create directly affects your chances of survival.

Build and upgrade bases that will keep you safe in this dangerous world. Unlock new technologies to use more advanced structures and systems, expanding your capabilities and adapting to growing threats.

Do not get detected. The more electricity your equipment and base use, the more enemies you attract. In this world, nothing goes unnoticed.

In a world where nature is reclaiming control, technology is not the only threat. Hunt wild animals, fish, grow plants and try to survive harsh conditions.

Use technology against itself. Take over AI outposts, sabotage systems and seize control of machines to turn their power to your advantage. Hacking can give you an edge or expose you to even greater risk.

Survive alone or team up with friends. Cooperation helps you progress faster, build bigger bases and handle threats more effectively. And messing around with your friends might be the last reason to smile in this brutal world.
The world will not survive without you...

Monthly update #3
Hi!Another month and a half of work on PAINLAND has passed, and as usual, we want to gather in one place the most important things we’ve been working on.This time, however, we want to start with one important piece of information. This will be the last monthly update focused mainly on telling you about what we’re working on.Starting with the next update, we want to regularly show you much more concrete progress directly from the game - new locations, systems, animations, models, and more gameplay elements.AnimationsOver the past few weeks, we’ve been heavily developing character animations. We’ve been working on player movement, weapon handling, and the use of tools. We’re also refining character behavior from both first- and third-person perspectives. This is a major part of the entire control system, as virtually every action performed by the player needs to look and work correctly from both perspectives. At the same time, we’ve been creating animations for forest animals, which will eventually start appearing throughout the world of PAINLAND.Clothing and EquipmentWe’ve also devoted a lot of work to models related to character appearance and equipment.Among other things, we’ve created new:jackets, pants, hats, gloves, masks, helmets and headgear, night vision goggles, bulletproof vests, armor components. We want the character’s appearance in the game world to change as they progress and develop. That’s why we’re preparing a large number of clothing, equipment, and protective gear items.Weapons and ToolsWe’re also expanding the pool of items available to the player.Recently, we’ve created new models for ranged weapons, melee weapons, and tools that will be used for exploration, combat, resource gathering, and other activities. You’ll be able to see some of these items in our upcoming materials.Game WorldA huge amount of work is currently going directly into the environment. We’ve been creating new trees, bushes, grass, roads, and many elements characteristic of different areas o...Read full article on Community Announcements (oliwia_zzlxcv)Patch NotesOfficial
Monthly update #2
Welcome to the second official monthly update for PAINLAND.The Story of PAINLANDThe idea of creating our own survival game had been with our team since 2019. Moonday Games founder and owner, Szymon "IsAmU" Kasprzyk, has always been a huge fan of the genre. Survival games were one of the main reasons his YouTube channel continued to grow, eventually making him one of the most recognizable gaming creators in Poland. The idea had been there for years, but back in 2019 we simply weren't ready to take on a project of this scale. We lacked the experience, the resources, and the team needed to build a large and ambitious survival game.Everything started to change five years later. After the success of our first game, our studio had grown significantly. We gained valuable experience, expanded the team, and in 2024 we finally felt it was the right time to return to the idea that had been in the back of our minds for so long. That's when the story of PAINLAND truly began. The original vision was much smaller than what PAINLAND has become today. We planned fewer mechanics, a smaller world, and relied much more heavily on existing systems, features, and art assets. Development initially started with just two people - one programmer and one game designer. However, after only a few months, we realized that this approach simply wasn't for us. We didn't want to create a small project built mostly on pre-made solutions. Instead, we decided to challenge ourselves with a production that, for a studio of our size, is a truly ambitious undertaking. We completely abandoned pre-made assets and most of the ready-made systems we had originally planned to use. Instead, we began creating our own models, animations, gameplay systems, mechanics, and a world with its own unique identity and recognizable style. As the scope of the project continued to grow, so did the team. Within the following year, PAINLAND expanded from just two developers into a team of around fifteen specialists. Every day, our p...Read full article on Community Announcements (oliwia_zzlxcv)Patch NotesOfficial

Survival Equipment #1: HANDMADE WEAPONS
About the equipment systemIn this series, we want to give you a closer look at how equipment works in PAINLAND and how we approach designing it. We start with the most basic category - HANDMADE WEAPONS.These are weapons the player builds using whatever they can find in the world. No factories - no late-game blueprints. At this stage, simplicity, material availability, and the ability to quickly craft something that actually helps you survive are what matter most. When designing this category, we focus on making every weapon meaningful at the start of the game - cheap to craft, intuitive, and giving a real sense of progression from the very first minutes.Below are a few examples.WEAPON #1 - Scrap BowBuilt from bent metal plates, steel wire, and improvised joints held together with screws and tape.Heavier and less flexible than a classic bow - but durable and made from easily available materials.Offers stable damage and allows for ranged combat without revealing your position. Slower draw and lower precision - but still effective at range.WEAPON #2 - Scrap CrossbowMade from metal profiles, steel cables, and a simple trigger mechanism. The reinforced build allows for more powerful shots - at the cost of mobility and reload speed.More accurate and stable than the bow - but noticeably slower. Delivers higher impact and better control at range, though every shot needs to count.WEAPON #3 - BeastAssembled from a fuel gun, caulking guns, a screwdriver, and other random tools fused into one heavy construction. Chaotic and improvised - but surprisingly effective.Fires massive projectiles with tremendous force. Heavy and loud - it draws attention and requires good timing. Not precise or fast - but one well-placed shot can end a fight.WEAPON #4 - Basic Machine Carbine “Tuf Tuf”An improvised automatic weapon made from salvaged parts. Steel frame - drum magazine - makeshift stock wrapped in tape.Crude, loud, and inaccurate. But once it starts firing - it does exactly what it was bui...Read full article on Community Announcements (oliwia_zzlxcv)AnnouncementsOfficial
