About this game

Your cat is sailing across space. Starting from Earth, she'll travel to the Moon, Mars, Jupiter, and far beyond — all the way to distant stars like Proxima Centauri, Sirius, and Betelgeuse. The journey takes time. A lot of time. But she has nothing but time.

You don't need to play this game. Just leave it open.

Key Features

Always-on-top desktop widget

A small window sits quietly in the corner of your screen while you work, browse, or play other games. Your cat keeps traveling whether you're watching or not.

Your work becomes her fuel

Every keystroke fills the booster. Every mouse click earns credits. Whatever you're doing on your computer, it's helping her get further.

100 real destinations

Starting from the Moon, journey through the 8 planets of the Solar System and explore real stars based on actual astronomical distance data — Proxima Centauri, Sirius, Vega, Betelgeuse, and many more.

Upgrade and collect

Spend your credits on speed and booster upgrades. Roll the gacha to unlock 39 different cats, each with their own engine flame color.

See your Steam friends in space

If a friend is exploring the same region of space, their cat will appear alongside yours, briefly sailing together before drifting apart. You can check the friend list anytime to see where everyone is.

Made to leave on for hours

Warm pixel art. No flashing lights. No sound. Designed to live in the background of your day.

How to Play

There isn't really a way to play. Just open it.

When your cat reaches a planet, she'll dock automatically. You can buy upgrades, switch cats, then send her off again. The next destination might take minutes. It might take days. Either way, she'll get there.

One Month In: A Few Thoughts from the Dev

Hello, fellow cat travelers. This is Jebi, developer of Outta Space. To mark one month since launch, I wanted to share a few casual thoughts with you all.Outta Space actually started out as a side project. It all began the day I saw news coverage of Artemis II's lunar flyby, then spotted someone wearing NASA gear on the subway — that's when I decided to start building it. Because of that, the original concept wasn't even about cats at all; it was about a spaceship. That changed during development, when I decided I wanted to put my own two cats into the game. Haha.Being a side project didn't mean it got any less love, though. I commissioned the cat artwork from an outside artist, and it was only thanks to the steady time I kept putting in that I was able to ship it at all.To be honest, there are no updates currently planned for the game. It's a free title, and my hope has always been for people to enjoy it as something light and easygoing — that was the intent behind making it in the first place. I know it's still holding a steady concurrent player count, which does weigh on me a little, but this decision is so I can focus on planning and building better games going forward, so I hope you'll understand. If you follow my Steam curator page, you'll be able to hear about my next game as soon as there's news.Thank you to everyone who's played, who's playing now, and who plans to play in the future. I'll wrap this up with some photos of our cats. Thanks so much for playing.
