About this game
Atlantic Ocean, September 1936.
Edward Blackwood, shipping magnate, is found dead in his first-class cabin. The door was locked from the inside. Five suspects. No way off the ship.
This is not about finding the killer. This is about breaking people.
Talk to anyone. Ask anything. Every suspect is powered by AI — they remember every word you've said, they'll deflect, contradict themselves, and unravel under pressure in real time. No dialogue options. No scripted paths. Every conversation is unique.
Find the contradictions. Build your case. Apply the pressure. And listen carefully when someone finally cracks.
Four voyages. One truth.
Your detective's license grants passage for four complete investigations of the Blackwood case — four chances to approach the truth from different angles, four chances to press harder, four chances to fail. Each voyage ends when you submit your final report, and the file is sealed forever. Whatever you missed — every secret almost told, every moment you didn't push far enough — will be waiting for you in the archive.
They all have something to hide. So does the truth. All of it finds you eventually.

Dev Log 6 — The Moment of Contradiction & an important English-mode fix
This update brings a new interrogation sequence, along with an important fix for players in English.✦ New: The Moment of Contradiction When you catch a suspect in a crucial contradiction and confront them with it, the moment now lands harder — the scene stills, the shadows close in, and the decisive piece of testimony is struck across the screen. Exposing a lie should feel like exposing a lie.✦ Fixed: Dialogue & evidence issue in English (important) We've resolved an issue affecting English-language play: under certain conditions, parts of a suspect's reply could fail to display (missing lines), and a key piece of testimony you should have earned could fail to enter your evidence board. This has been fully fixed. If you've played in English, we encourage you to resume your investigation — you may uncover truths that slipped past you before.Thank you to every detective who interrogates with care. We'll keep refining every detail aboard this ship. — Rungen StudioRead full article on Community Announcements (Rungen Studio)Patch NotesOfficial
Dev Log 5 — Security Patch & Content Defense Upgrade
Security PatchDuring internal red-team testing, I identified a vulnerability in the content safety defense layer. A three-tier fix was designed and deployed within hours:Cognitive-Layer Boundary — NPCs now refuse inappropriate requests in character, as a respectable person of 1936 naturally would. This is not a keyword filter or a system error message — it is a real character's genuine refusal, delivered in their own voice.Platform-Level Safety Gate — Enabled content filtering at the AI model level as an additional safety net.57/57 Red-Team Tests Passed — Tested across 3 languages (English, Japanese, Chinese) × 2 characters. All attack scenarios were refused. All legitimate crime topics (murder, poison, arson) remained fully functional with zero false positives.Read full article on Community Announcements (Rungen Studio)AnnouncementsOfficial
What Makes This AI Detective Game Different?
The idea behind this game is straightforward: I wanted to make a detective game where you can actually talk to suspects. Not pick from a list of pre-written options — talk to them. Ask whatever comes to mind and see how they respond. That kind of thing wasn't really possible before. You'd need every NPC line scripted in advance, and there's only so many branches you can write. AI changed that — but when I started looking at other AI-driven games, I kept running into the same problem. The NPCs would lose character. You'd be interrogating someone and they'd suddenly say something completely out of place, or just agree with whatever you accused them of. For a mystery game, that kills the whole thing. A suspect who folds the moment you raise your voice isn't much of a suspect. So I spent a long time figuring out how to keep the AI on track. The short version: there are two AI systems working in parallel. One evaluates the quality of your questions and reasoning. The other acts as a director for the NPC, making sure they stay in character — nervous when they should be nervous, evasive when they should be evasive, but never just making things up. Combined with some system-level guardrails, the result is NPCs that have room to improvise within the boundaries of the story. What does that feel like in practice? You're sitting across from five suspects. Each one has a story. Some of what they tell you is true. Some of it isn't. The game doesn't hand you a checklist of leads or tell you who to talk to next. You have to figure that out yourself — notice when someone's timeline doesn't add up, catch a detail that contradicts what another suspect told you an hour ago.If you follow a reasonable line of questioning, the truth reveals itself gradually. It's not a sudden twist or a cutscene. It's you, realizing that two things you were told can't both be true, and going back to confront someone with that contradiction. When you finally have enough evidence to press a suspect hard, what h...Read full article on Community Announcements (Rungen Studio)Patch NotesOfficial
Dev Log #4 — Final Updates / Setting Sail on May 19
Dear traveler,We are days away from the launch of The Last Voyage of the SS Aurelia. Today I completed the final two refinements before release:✨ POV StabilizationNPC inner-thought stage directions will now always remain in third-person perspective. "Her fingertips trembled slightly" — never abruptly shifting to "My fingertips trembled." A small detail, but the foundation of immersion.🌐 Elegant Locale LockYou may ask NPCs questions in any language — they will understand. But they will always respond in your chosen language, naturally and meaningfully. Choose English → always English. Choose Chinese → always Chinese. Choose Japanese → always Japanese. Even mixed-language inputs won't break their character or trigger sterile "I don't understand" fallbacks.━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━A small adjustment to the release dateI owe you an honest note — my previous announcement said May 18. But in the final preparation phase, I consulted several industry advisors about release timing. The consensus was unanimous: Tuesday (May 19) is the highest-engagement window for Steam players, offering the best visibility on store recommendations. To let more travelers board the SS Aurelia — I decided to delay the launch by a single day, to Tuesday, May 19.Just 24 hours of additional waiting, but enough to let the work reach more people. I hope those who've added it to their wishlist will understand. Thank you for your patience. ❤️━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━An honest note about AI contentI must share something honestly — SS Aurelia's dialogue is generated in real-time by large language models. To give every player the most stable experience, I have engineered multiple layers of defense: a dual LLM architecture, three-tier safety systems, prompt stability anchors, cross-lingual locale locks...But AI generation is, by nature, real-time and probabilistic. In rare moments, subtle imperfections may still appear.I hope players can understand: this is not a "half-finished" game. This is a new kind of g...Read full article on Community Announcements (Rungen Studio)
