About this game
Music Manager is a detailed simulation game about building careers in the music industry from 1952 to 2026, covering the history of modern popular music. Start in any year during that period and work across a global music scene, with playable locations across every inhabited continent.
Scout talent, negotiate contracts, book gigs, send acts on tour, play festivals, record songs, release music, handle publicity and guide your artists through changing trends, shifting tastes and fierce competition. Some acts will need patience. Others may be ready to move quickly. The challenge is deciding where to spend your time, money and attention in an industry that never stands still.
As your career progresses, achievements can unlock support staff who take over parts of the business, letting you focus more on the areas you enjoy most.
If you enjoy management games built around systems, long-term planning and shaping your own story over time, Music Manager puts you in control of the decisions behind the music.

MUSIC MANAGER JUST GOT A LOT DEEPER
This update introduces some of the biggest new systems added to Music Manager during the playtest.Musicians now develop over time, pursue their own ambitions, build accomplishments across their careers, and form stronger relationships with their fans.Every three months, you also get a much clearer picture of how your acts are developing.QUARTERLY ACT REVIEWSEvery managed act now receives a Quarterly Review. It brings together what has happened over the previous three months so you can see how the act is progressing, how individual musicians are developing, how relationships are changing, what has happened with the fans, and which ambitions are moving closer to completion. The aim is simple: make the consequences of your decisions much easier to see.ASPIRATIONS & ACCOMPLISHMENTSMusicians now have their own career aspirations. They may want chart success, better songs, major tours, festival appearances, live achievements or other milestones. As those ambitions are achieved, musicians can earn Bronze, Silver and Gold accomplishments.Up to three accomplishments can be active at once, and certain combinations can provide additional bonuses. The idea is to make musicians feel more like people with their own careers, rather than just a collection of statistics.MUSICIAN DEVELOPMENT & CAREER STAGESMusicians now develop through Early, Mid and Late career stages.Their abilities can improve, peak and eventually decline depending on age, activity and the individual musician.Playing gigs, recording and staying active can influence that development.Career-stage changes can also reshape aspirations and gradually change personality.A musician you sign early in their career should no longer feel exactly the same decades later.FAN ENGAGEMENT & LOYALTYFans now have two distinct relationships with your acts.Fan Engagement measures how actively interested they are right now.Fan Loyalty measures how strongly they believe in the act over the long term.Great records, strong live shows and meanin...Read full article on Community Announcements (Music Manager)AnnouncementsOfficial

Final Playtest Begins 31 July
The previous Music Manager Playtest ended on 10 July and I have been busy working through the feedback since then. I am now planning to launch the third and final Playtest on 31 July. A COMPLETE LOCALISATION OVERHAUL The weakest area of the previous Playtest was the localised translations. Localisation support was introduced during the Playtest and I kept patching it as problems appeared, but the underlying system was flawed. Some sentences were built from separately translated fragments, which meant they could not form naturally in some languages. The translation catalogue had also become bloated with obsolete scenes and unused text, which stretched the quality checking too thinly. Rather than continuing to patch that system, I have replaced it completely. The localisation catalogue has been reduced from almost 11,000 strings to just under 6,000. This should allow for more natural translations and much more focused quality checking across every supported language. I have also overhauled the way translated text is displayed in the game. The new system is already much better at handling longer translations without text overlapping or disappearing beyond the interface. I am still working through the remaining display issues and will complete this over the next week. BETTER FEEDBACK FROM PR ACTIVITIES A tester pointed out (thanks Dad!) that interviews and promotional appearances could happen without giving the player enough information about the result. PR activities now generate both a notification and an in-game email, showing how the event went and what affected the outcome. The Music Video PR tactic has also been fixed after an earlier update broke it. PR tactics will now be automatically populated when they are added to a campaign. This should reduce some of the repetitive setup while still allowing players to change every setting if they want full control. OTHER FIXES A bug that prevented procedurally generated acts from displaying their musician details correctl...Read full article on Community Announcements (Music Manager)AnnouncementsOfficial

The second playtest is nearly over after two weeks online.Thank you to everyone who has submitted bug reports and feedback. I’ve acted on everything received, although two messages arrived slightly garbled because they were sent before the diagnostic system was updated. If you still run into any issues, please get in touch again and I’ll fix them.If you haven’t tried the playtest yet and would like to, now is the time. There are only two days remaining.Read full article on Community Announcements (Music Manager)AnnouncementsOfficial
Genesis Untitled
First, thank you to the player who reported this. Someone made a mod called genesis using the editor, which is genuinely impressive because I did not think anyone would be that deep into it yet.For some reason, there was a genre mismatch in the mod data, which meant the game could not generate song titles for new songs. It was tricky to recreate because I did not realise it involved a mod until I found it in the logs. It was almost like an invisible touch (Invisible Touch). That should now be fixed, along with more translation improvements. Translation work is still ongoing, so some rough edges may remain. The editor itself has not had much attention for a couple of months while the game has changed a lot, so it probably needs some polish. One of my final tasks before launch is Steam Workshop integration, so bigger editor improvements will likely happen around then. After updating, please turn it on again (Turn It On Again) and let me know if anything still looks broken.Read full article on Community Announcements (Music Manager)
