Content notice: Galactic Kebab is a dark science-fiction management game in which the player runs a restaurant on a hostile alien world. In the style of games such as Frostpunk, it deals with morally difficult survival decisions. Depending on the choices the player makes, this can include preparing and serving dishes made from sentient alien species to other alien customers, alongside themes of killing, corruption and exploitation. Combat against alien creatures is stylized and non-realistic. The game is in active development and its final content is not yet locked; this description covers the mature themes we currently intend to include. The game contains no sexual content or nudity.

About this game

Run a restaurant on a planet that wants you gone.

Galactic Kebab is a scenario-driven survival strategy game. You play a

chef stranded on a hostile alien world after a crash, running a kebab

restaurant out of the wreck of your ship, with a robot cat as your only

help.

Your day

Each morning you assign the day's work: gather materials, repair the

ship, cook, rest, or send the cat out to explore. Each evening you decide

whether to open the restaurant. The game runs in real time and can be

paused or sped up, but the day itself is fixed. You spend it once.

The chef has to eat and sleep. Skipping either has effects that build up

over several days.

Resources

There are four: credits, staple ingredients, quality ingredients, and

build material. Quality ingredients make better dishes and more money,

and they are the hardest to come by.

The cat

Your robot cat explores on its own. Send it to a location and it travels

for several hours before returning with ingredients, salvage, a trade

contact, or word of somewhere further out. While it is away, it cannot

help you at home.

Building

The restaurant is built on a grid inside the crashed hull. Tables, seats,

decoration, and repairs all cost build material, which comes from

salvaging the debris fields around the crash site. More seats mean more

customers per night; better furnishing means customers who spend more.

Customers

Three types, each with different patience and budget. Serve them well and

some become regulars who return and raise your reputation. Serve them

badly — wrong dish, long wait, empty stock — and they leave angry, which

costs you more than the meal was worth.

The Authority

The planet's government finds you on the second day. From then on they

collect a daily tax. Paying on time keeps them calm. Missing a payment

gives you a short grace period, then puts you in debt. Their patience is

a meter, and when it runs out they execute you.

How it ends

The chef can die of hunger or exhaustion. The Authority can have you

executed. Either one ends the scenario where your choices took it.
