About this game

Explore a dangerous dungeon to recover the legendary Amulet of Endor! Powerful monsters lurk below, and your torch is the only thing keeping the dark miasma at bay. Keep it lit and you might make it out alive.

Battle fearsome foes, monstrous monstrosities, and (of course) rats. Every turn, pull five balls out of your magic bag. Drop three of them onto the field. When two balls of the same size and type collide, they merge together and you will deal damage. Or add armor. Or gain mana. Or poison a monster. Or light everything on fire. Or pray to a forgotten god. Learn to set up combos for double damage. Learn to avoid traps, then learn how to take advantage of them. Lure monsters into terrain where they are disadvantaged - a watery pit, a slimy tunnel, or an explosive armory. Blow things up. Die often.

Die often, and die again. Start from the beginning. Gather treasure - powerful items that add to your deck and grant new special abilities. Throw bombs and use potions. Unlock new classes and new starting gear. Fight bosses, die again.

Crawl, fight, drop. Go deeper, get smarter, get the Amulet, get out alive.

Early Acesss Roadmap

This game is in Early Access - here's the roadmap for full release. The left side contains monthly milestones, and the right side contains stretch goals. If the game reaches certain review counts (positive or negative reviews, either one counts), then I'll add in those stretch goals as extra milestones.

    Version 0.9.2 released!

Version 0.9.3 has been released. While I'm planning to do major updates monthly, I'll also try to include a bug fix update a week after each major one. And, because they should be fun, I might also add little bits to these smaller updates too. This version's fun stuff comes from two new items: the Mermaid Boots and the Flood Scroll. The Mermaid Boots grants the Aquatic status effect, granting +1 Strength in shallow water and +2 Strength in deep water. They also add a Level 2 Strength ball to your hand. (Unlike the Weighted Boots, there are no starting balls added with the Mermaid Boots.) That's fun, but it's also a bit limited - enemies that flood the battlefield only show up on floors 5 and 6 of the dungeon. So I also added a Flood Scroll - a consumable that raises the level of water, castable at any time. It's nice to have that in your pocket, especially for poison builds - all of your low level balls will float up to the top and often start merging up there. And the bug fixes:- Fixed a bug where the music volume reset to full at the title screen. \- Fixed a bug where the floor boss can show up too close to the stairs / floor entrance. \- Fixed a bug where you could get lots of the same loot. Now most items should drop once a run, rings can drop twice, and consumables unlimited times. \- Stopped tiny waves of water from appearing at the bottom of the battlefield outside of the swamp.- Stopped an occasional splash sound effect from firing when a ball hits the floor of the field.- Fixed a bug where a double flood action could give Aquatic monsters one too many stacks of Strength- Fixed a bug with the Ax where the neighbor cleave damage was much smaller than it should have been. (It was quartered twice instead of once.)Happy crawling!

Ball, Fall, Dungeon Crawl is now in Early Access

After eight months of prototyping, drafting, designing, playtesting, and revising, Ball Fall Dungeon Crawl is ready for Early Access! It's been fun designing a drop-merge roguelike, taking a genre that I've been obsessed with and putting my own twist on it. Ball Fall is a deckbuilder, but I've tried to avoid a lot of the Slay the Spire deckbuilding tropes. There's no pick-3-perks here, no incremental deck additions, and no path-through-a-map. Ball Fall has a legit dungeon to explore, chock full of traps and treasure and altars to old gods. Your deck is all driven from the gear you're wearing - no level ups and no experience. It's inspired more by Brogue than by Slay the Spire. (I don't think I've gone more than three days without playing that game this last year. Slightly obsessed. Still have zero victories.) For those of you coming from the demo, here's the changes for 0.9.0 / 0.9.1: - New music! Both the demo and the release versions have the whole soundtrack by Rob Kovacs. Awesome chiptune energy. - Levels 5 and 6 of the dungeon added in. Brave the fearsome swamp. - The swamp levels have a new water hazard. Level 1 and 2 balls will float up to the top, and others will sink. Ice balls of all sizes float. - Added the status effects Aquatic (bonus Strength depending on water level) and Floods (causes the water level to rise at the start of a battle). - I've removed the physics gremlins from the game - or at least the text about them. Actual gremlins may still exist in the physics system. When a drop takes too long, it just moves on to the next phase now. - The Chains weapon effect now deals (# merges / 2) bonus damage instead of (# merges) bonus damage. The merge count also resets if you use a special ability instead of just with each new drop. - The Frostbite status effect now deals (ball size + 1) / 2 damage instead of (ball size + 1) damage - The Cleave weapon effect now deals one quarter damage to neighbors instead of one half - Fixed a bug where you couldn't ho...
