A LITTLE ROBOT ON A BIG ADVENTURE
Set sail into a bright, mysterious ocean in Oceanborne, a colourful, handcrafted 3D adventure RPG where every island hides something new. You play as a robot awakened to repair what’s broken and help bring life back to a world swallowed by clouds.
GATHER TO GROW
Resource gathering is at the heart of your adventure. Chop trees, mine stone, fish the surrounding waters, and fight monsters to collect the materials you need. Every activity feeds your progression, turning exploration and combat into the resources that power your next steps.
CRAFT, REPAIR, PROGRESS
Use what you gather to craft components for repairs and character upgrades. Rebuild damaged structures to permanently reopen routes, unlock new areas, and push farther across the ocean.
POWER THE LIGHTHOUSE
As you explore, you will discover rare Island Heart gems. Bring them back to your lighthouse base to power it up and clear more clouds from the sea. Each Island Heart reveals fresh waters, new islands, and new opportunities to gather, craft, and progress.
EXPAND YOUR BATTERY
Your robot runs on battery power, and your battery grows through play. Repairs, quests, and upgrades increase your capacity, letting you stay out longer, travel farther, and take on bigger challenges.

Oceanborne - Gathering, Research and New Areas
Hey everyone, Windybeard here with another Oceanborne update.Last month I gave a general look at some of the things you can expect from the game. This time I wanted to dive a bit deeper into one of my favourite parts of Oceanborne, the gathering and item progression systems.Gather PointsThroughout the world you'll come across what I call Gather Points. These are anything that lets you collect resources and they come in four different types, each linked to one of your main skills.MiningChoppingFishingCombatEvery gather point has its own loot table, but that's only half of it.Every individual tree, rock and fishing spot has its own mastery level. The more you gather from a specific gather point, the more experienced you become with it. Eventually it levels up.When a gather point levels up you'll unlock more resources from it, but you'll also permanently improve your own stats. Your battery capacity increases, giving you more energy to explore, and the relevant gathering damage increases too. Upgrade a rock and your mining damage goes up. Upgrade a tree and your chopping damage improves.I really like how this system makes the world feel rewarding. Even returning to an old area still contributes to your overall progression.Combat follows a similar idea, although it works a little differently. I'll save that for another update.Item ResearchResources have their own progression system too.Every time you collect a resource you learn a little more about it. Gather enough of a specific item and you'll fully research it.Once an item has been researched you permanently have an infinite supply of it, so there's no need to keep filling your inventory with basic materials forever. Researching an item also gives your battery another permanent upgrade, so every resource you discover continues making your character stronger. The result is that almost everything you do contributes towards your progression.Whether you're collecting a simple twig, mining coral or gathering rare materials...Read full article on Community Announcements (Windybeard)AnnouncementsOfficial
Oceanborne: Exploring a Broken World
Hey everyone, I wanted to share the first proper development update for Oceanborne and show some of the world I have been building. At its core, Oceanborne is a JRPG about exploring a vast ocean and repairing a world that has slowly fallen into ruin. It is a colourful adventure filled with mystery, discovery, and quiet moments out at sea.As you travel between islands you will discover broken structures, struggling communities, forgotten machinery, and hidden places waiting to be restored. Gathering resources from the world around you allows you to repair these places piece by piece, bringing life back to islands that have long been abandoned or isolated.Every island has its own personality, history, creatures, and secrets to uncover. Some are peaceful and overgrown, others are strange and industrial, while some hide dangers deep beneath the surface. You play as Kaiyo, a robot who awakens inside a mysterious lighthouse guided by an ancient machine known as Solaris. A thick cloud now covers the ocean, cutting the islands off from one another and making travel across the sea impossible.Your journey is to venture into the unknown, help the people and creatures scattered throughout the world, and slowly clear the clouds that shroud the ocean. You might arrive at a crumbling old farm with collapsed buildings and withered crops. By exploring the island and gathering materials, you can begin restoring the farm one repair at a time. Every restoration rewards you with something meaningful, whether that is new crafting recipes, upgrades, fresh areas to explore, or new ways to gather resources.Mining rare materials, chopping trees, fishing, gathering supplies, and fighting monsters all play an important role in your adventure. The materials you collect are useful far beyond a single island, and every task helps you grow stronger and uncover more of the world’s mysteries. Farmstead Isle - BrokenFarmstead Isle - Repaired!Solaris and the lighthouse once protected the ocean through th...Read full article on Community Announcements (Windybeard)
