A difficult maze-building tower defense. Protect the kitty from evil robots and endure its unhelpful comments. Force enemies the long way around, push them through lava, and adapt as levels change beneath you. No spells, no card modifiers. A love letter to Warcraft III custom maps and Flash games.

About this game

A cat is stuck in a jar. It's your problem now.

Jarred Defense is a maze-building tower defense for people who miss the pure form of TD. Placing a tower in the right spot to force enemies the long way around, make them walk over level hazards and create choke points for your splash zone. No spells, no first-person shooting, no random card modifiers. Just planning, placement, and upgrades.

Build towers. Force enemies through lava. Adapt to melting ice blocks crack as heat sources reshape the level around you. Send the next wave early and pocket the bonus.

The cat trapped in the jar has opinions about all of this. They are not helpful.

Features

  • True mazing, no predefined tower locations

  • Hand crafted levels that change as you play

  • Early send mechanic with risk-weighted bonuses

  • Tower upgrade trees with branching specialisations

  • Hazard tiles - force enemies to step on them

  • A boss to defeat every 10 waves

I should probably mention that this game is kind of hard.

I built it because I missed the old-school flash tower defense games that didn't hold your hand. As a result, you’ll probably watch your defenses fall apart more than once. I consider that part of the fun.

Made by one person who just wanted to play a game like this and couldn't find one.

Powered by the open-source GODOT game engine. <3

New Tower Upgrades, New Bosses - Jarred Defense Devlog 4

The biggest change is the new visual upgrade tree. Now you can actually see what your towers will become. I love the branching paths, like turning the Pulse tower into a "Deep Freeze" tower that does zero damage but applies a massive slow effect.I also finally got the cat talking! I built a lip-sync system so his mouth moves with the voice lines I recorded. He’s stuck in a jar for a reason, but you’ll have to play the game to find out why.Gameplay-wise, there’s a new healing boss that’s pretty tricky to kill and an early-wave bonus to help you get more currency for upgrades. I’ve also got Endless Mode and Steam leaderboards working now.If you want to support the project, please wishlist it on Steam!
