About this game
What is RuneClick?
RuneClick is a desktop overlay RPG that turns your daily computer use into character progression. A pixel art medieval character lives on your screen and reacts to your real keyboard and mouse input. Type an email, he chops a tree. Click through a spreadsheet, he mines ore. Close your laptop, he does nothing. Every keystroke is progress. Every click counts.
The Grind is Real
21 skills. Everything connects. Woodcutting fuels Smithing and Cooking. Mining supplies the whole chain. Fletching makes the arrows you shoot, Runecraft makes the runes you cast. You gather raw materials, turn them into gear and food, fight for the rarest drops, and work toward whatever you want to be. Level cap is 99 per skill. XP keeps counting after that.
Fight Back
Pick a style and go. Melee for raw damage and survivability, with four stances that shape which stats you train. Ranged for safe pressure, firing arrows you fletched yourself. Magic for burst power, casting spells fueled by runes you crafted from essence. The combat triangle matters. Bring the right style to the right fight or pay for it.
38 enemies span goblins to dragons to the Abyssal Lord himself. Boss fights have phases and shifting weaknesses. Their loot tables hold the best gear in the game, including the full Dragon armor set, the Elder Staff, the Elder Shortbow, and five tiny pet versions of the toughest things you've killed.
Gear Up
Forge tools that make you gather faster. Smith full armor sets across six metal tiers. Craft leather and dragonhide for Ranged. Stitch robes for Magic. Cook food that boosts your XP and grants poison on hit. Cut gems into jewelry with passive bonuses. Save your favorite loadouts as one of four gear presets and swap between skilling, melee, ranged, and magic with a click. Every upgrade is something you built from materials you earned.
It Lives on Your Desktop
RuneClick isn't a window you switch to. It's a transparent overlay that sits on top of your taskbar while you work, browse, or play other games. Click through it. Drag it anywhere. Scale it up or down. It launches with Windows, saves automatically, and never steals focus. It's a companion, not a distraction.
Mod Everything
Add new skills, items, and recipes with simple JSON files. Want full control? Write GDScript mods with access to every system in the game. Share your creations on Steam Workshop. A complete template mod with an example skill is included to get you started.

Update 2.7.0 - Construction & Slayer
New skill: Construction Construction is the twentieth skill. You build furniture for your Holding, the plot of land beside your character, and the building itself is the reward: no item is minted, the experience is the product. It is also the first real use planks have ever had, alongside two new Smithing products, nails and gold leaf, Fifty repeatable pieces run from an oak chair at level 1 to an elder throne at 99, in six wood tiers, and each one assembles on screen stage by stage as you work. Bigger pieces take longer and cost more, but every piece in a tier earns at the same rate, so what you build is a matter of taste and pacing rather than efficiency. The Holding's permanent works Thirteen one-time builds are the reason to keep going. They are large projects, hundreds of inputs each, and they change how the rest of the game plays. Restoration Spring, four tiers: every kill restores a quarter, then half, then three quarters, then all of your health. The altar, three tiers: kills give back more prayer points, and buried bones earn more Prayer experience. Steadfast Ward, three tiers: stat-draining attacks sap you more slowly, then less deeply, then a kill clears the drain outright. Pantry: keep a second food equipped. Superior Garden, two tiers: opens a ninth and tenth farm patch. New skill: Slayer Slayer is the twenty-first skill. Three task masters, Brann, Vex and Karst, each hand out assignments matched to what you can handle, and you earn Slayer points for finishing them. Points buy the gear that makes the harder assignments possible. Six creatures arrive with it, and each one has a counter you are meant to bring: Banshee: without waxen earplugs its scream drains your stats far faster than you can fight through. Basilisk: meet its gaze without a mirror charm and it does the same. Dust devil: reinforced goggles, or you fight all but blind and it hits far harder. Ravager: only a marrow blade or staff marks it, or broadhead arrows if you fight at range. Anything...Read full article on Community Announcements (Vosk)Patch NotesOfficial
Update 2.6.3
FixesDuring Magic combat, equipped jewellery stuck on one pose for more than half of each idle loop, and the robe's sway visibly jumped partway through. Both animate smoothly again. Same root cause as the melee armour fix in the last update. The jewellery art was drawn against the shorter idle sway, and against the longer one it kept landing on the wrong frame. Magic goes back to the shorter sway too. Long hover text now wraps into a compact box instead of stretching across the screen in a single line. The settings rows and the leaderboard filter buttons were the worst offenders. During Farming's batch identify, the item names that fly off the table could be cut off at the top of the drawn area if the skill readout was collapsed. They now show in full. — VoskRead full article on Community Announcements (Vosk)Patch NotesOfficial
Update 2.6.2
Fixes Hover text and dropdown menus no longer get their right edge cut off where they run past the overlay's clickable area. This one kept coming back, because the hover text Windows draws is not something the game holds on to, so it could never be added to the list of things the overlay checks. It is now handled for every tooltip and every dropdown at once, including any added later. Melee combat no longer shows a bare arm through the gap in the chest plate. The armor was only ever drawn against the shorter idle sway, so against the longer one (Added in v2.4.0) it lined up with the wrong pose for three frames out of seven. Melee goes back to the shorter sway, and the plates sit correctly again. Equipped jewelry keeps animating properly in melee combat as part of the same change. One cause of the overlay locking up On every frame, RuneClick was asking Windows whether a Fullscreen program was in front, which is how it knows to step out of the way of your other games. Answering that makes Windows walk every open window on the machine, under a lock the whole desktop shares. If anything else is holding that lock, the answer never comes back. A memory capture taken while RuneClick was stuck caught it stopped dead inside that one call, long enough that Windows logged the program as not responding. That call is gone. The check that actually decides whether to give up the top slot never needed it. A lock held around incoming keyboard and mouse events is now released much sooner. Held too long, Windows can quietly stop delivering input to a program without telling it, which in this game would mean your typing stopped earning experience until you restarted. That has never been seen happening, and it can no longer build up. One that is still open.. There is a second, separate way the overlay can stop responding, and this update does not fix it. It accounts for most of what has actually been captured so far. That one sits in how Windows composites the transparent window rather ...Read full article on Community Announcements (Vosk)Patch NotesOfficial
Update 2.6.1
Leaderboards The Global board now opens on Autoclickers hidden. All scores is one click away, and whichever view you pick is remembered between sessions. This hides accounts that have been flagged. It does not check the ones that are left, so unflagged does not mean verified. Auto-input is still allowed. No scores were reset or rolled back. Ranked below the top 100? Your own row is now pinned under the list with your real rank. You are never hidden from your own board, and the panel now tells you if your account is flagged. Total Experience past 2.1 billion Leaderboard scores are stored as a 32-bit number, so Total Experience stopped counting at 2,147,483,647. It is now stored divided by 10 and multiplied back for display. The in-game panel shows the true number as it always has. The Steam Community leaderboard page and the Steam overlay read the stored value directly, so they show Total Experience divided by 10. The nineteen skill boards are untouched and still exact, as are Total Level and Total Gold Earned. Fixes The Global view was asking Steam for 100 entries around your own rank rather than the top 100. It has looked right only because every board is still shorter than 100 entries. Past that point it would have started the list at rank 2 with you missing from it. Opening a second panel mid-load left the leaderboard stuck on Loading. Every leaderboard network call now has a timeout. One stalled request could previously stop score uploads for the rest of the session. Switching boards quickly could file one board's results under another board's name. Settings, Leaderboards described the filter as something other players opt into. Rewritten. The save-edit detector no longer treats a genuinely maxed account as tampering. New leaderboard text translated into all 8 languages. Save files are untouched. No migration needed. — VoskRead full article on Community Announcements (Vosk)Patch NotesOfficial
Update 2.6.0 - Firemaking
New skill: Firemaking Firemaking is a new production skill. Each input burns one log for experience and produces that log's own ash. The recipe ladder matches Woodcutting, so any log you can chop you can burn: oak at level 1, willow 15, maple 30, yew 45, magic 60, elder 80. Burning a log gives 1.5x the experience cutting it gave, which makes it the largest use Woodcutting has ever had. Each tier has its own animated bonfire in its wood's colour, and the character has a new burn animation with all seven jewellery overlays drawn for it. Firemaking is the 19th skill that can reach level 99. Ash and compost Oak, willow and maple ash upgrade compost into Supercompost. Yew, magic and elder ash make Ultracompost. Higher-tier ash needs fewer units: 6, 4 or 2 per bucket. Supercompost: disease chance x0.2, +3 harvest lives, 10% chance of an extra item per pull. Ultracompost: disease chance x0.1, +4 harvest lives, 20% chance of an extra item per pull. Both are made at the Compost Bin and give Farming experience. Each farm patch row now has a compost tier picker instead of an on/off toggle, showing your banked count of each tier. Compost rebalance Extra harvest lives and the new bonus-yield roll now apply to allotment and herb patches only. Trees and flowers keep full disease protection but no longer gain extra harvest lives from compost. They did before this update. Trees produce logs, logs produce ash, and ash produces compost, so the loop paid for itself several times over. Crops already growing in a composted patch mature under the new rule. Sacred pyres Treating a log with Sacred Oil and lighting it as a pyre banks a Pyre Blessing instead of ash, for the same experience as an ordinary fire of that log. Burying bones spends your highest banked blessing for bonus Prayer experience: +15% oak, +25% willow, +40% maple, +55% yew, +75% magic, +100% elder. This stacks on top of your altar multiplier. Off by default, since each blessing costs a log, a vial of oil and an input. The ...Read full article on Community Announcements (Vosk)
