About this game

Lucky Punk is a roguelike deckbuilder where every turn comes with one simple decision: DRAW another card and push your luck – or STOP and play it safe. Where most card battlers hide randomness or over-use RNG, Lucky Punk always shows you the odds. In a game where every choice matters, every decision in Lucky Punk is transparent, every risk is yours, and well, every failure? Completely deserved. 💀

DRAW… OR STOP

So, you're in the post-apocalypse gathering supplies, and you gotta fight enemies by playing a card game. You start with a deck of nine cards, and the only strategy you need to care about is: ⭐DAMAGE⭐ versus 🙁EFFORT🙁.

Each round, you do one of two things:

#1. Draw a card. You get the Damage and Effort points. The card abilities play out, you know how it is. 🤷

#2. Stop and end the round. You 💢hit the enemy equal to the Damage you’ve got. Then the enemy hits you and we go to the next round.

And if you ever get too much Effort? You exhaust yourself. You lose all the Damage you’ve built up and the round ends with only you getting a punch in the face! 👊🏻 We do this until they’re down or you’re out. Got it? That’s it! That’s the game.

FAST RUNS. HARD CHOICES

It’s a fast-paced turn-based roguelite built for quick, high stakes runs, constant tension and instant emotional outcomes that will either have you win or fail spectacularly.

After all, the game always tells you how risky your next draw is. You can even check what's in your deck at any time. It's a game about managing luck, but with perfect information. There's no card counting required! Unless you’re into that, you sicko. 😘

So all you really need to do is figure out if in your heart of hearts, that 1 in 5 chance of completely crashing out is worth it or not. What are you willing to risk all your progress on? A 20% chance of failure? What about 50%? No guessing. No excuses. Just you vs. the odds.

PUNK AGAINST THE APOCALYPSE

Oh and we got here because some business idiot billionaire took it upon himself to "save the world" 🙄 and now we're all living with the consequences. But instead of the usual grimdark gloom, we’ve got a bright 2D comic style, with classic ‘Zipatone’ textures. So you now get to explore this tongue-in-cheek eco-dystopia of sulfur haze. An absolutely vibrant punk-pocalypse full of strange plants and creatures to gather, fight, survive and thrive.

And that’s your aim as one of the few idiot punks able and willing to leave the safety of the settlement to gather supplies. Bring back enough, and your community thrives, unlocking new cards and recruiting other weird punks with weirder gameplay styles! And for helping them out, they’ll risk it all, too. 🤘

BUILD WEIRD. BREAK THE ODDS

The punks aren’t the only thing that’ll change how you play. It's a game full of weird cards, consumables, and unexpected interactions.

The builds actually interlock with each other in different ways, so you'll find new synergies each time you play. Strategies range from normal ones like Block, to weird ones like rewarding Exhaustion, to "you can do this?!?!" ones like marking the back of your cards to help you identify them, you dirty cheater. 😏

THIS GAME IS FOR YOU, IF YOU…

  • Love pushing your luck and asking “just one more draw?”

  • Want full control, see your odds and own every decision – good or bad

  • Vibe with bold, comic worlds and a rebellious, hope-punk attitude

  • Enjoy quick rewards and high-stakes runs over long-term planning and slow grind

  • Like experimenting with wild builds and unexpected synergies

FEATURES

  • Craft your deck from the set of unique cards built out of interlocking keywords

  • Pick from a plethora of scrappy punks with distinct playstyles, weirdo mechanics and stupid names

  • Perfect information lets you agonise over your choices as if it was a kidney stone

  • Push your luck with an infinite run system that asks you when to stop

  • Made entirely by foolhardy, hopeful humans. No “AI”

New Demo for Six One Indie Demo Days & Tiny Teams!

What's up, punks!👋🏽It's Brenden here and it's New Demo time, baybee! We've been a bit quiet with our "normal" devlogs because we've been busy working, and really, these event announcements are also just devlogs but with a little extra news.Anyway, we're doing well, hope you are too, and we've been doing a bunch of work on the core game. So this new demo is going to be available from July 31st to August 13th, as part of Six One Indie Demo Days and Tiny Teams! Before we get into it, I do want to say that if you liked the demo, please give it a review! It'll help make the demo more visible and more folks will know about it and wishlist our game which makes the Steam Algorithm like us more and show us to more folks. What's new?Match screen UX overhaulSo the previous match screen worked, but we noticed that due to our busy art style, people weren't really getting the game, and were focused on the wrong parts of the screen. This is also a big problem since our art style is just so busy, it makes the problem worse. We decided to go back to the drawing board, even got someone in (Thanks, Guido!) to clean up the Match screen and make it easier to understand. This is recent work and this isn't final, but we already feel great about these changes.Total Card and Character RebalanceThe previous demo had 32 cards, but with a lot of simple variations. I mean cards with the same or similar abilities but with higher damage and effort values. We basically had about 21 unique cards, and most had 0 effort values, which really made you just buy every card and scale way too fast. (Which, admittedly, was fun, but doesn't hold you for very long.)So seeing that hey, the core game works, I worked on designing the final set of cards and abilities we're going to have for our 1.0, and this demo has a completely new set of cards. What's important for me is that these cards are distinct from one another, interlock and play with each other in a fun way, with as little repeat abilities as possible. It'...
