About this game
My name is Marat. Today...
I don't remember.
Start over.
My name is Marat. I'm sixteen. It's spring, 2005.
I live a normal life: I go to school, play games on my computer, chat with friends on ICQ. Just the ordinary life of an ordinary teenager in provincial Tatarstan.
Except I've almost stopped sleeping. And when I do manage to fall asleep, things only get worse.
That fight could have been avoided. I could've just stayed away that day. Maybe that's where all of this started.
Now I'm trying to figure out who I can trust. To remember what really happened in the woods. And why my memories don't match what everyone else says happened. It's frightening to find out that someone has been lying to you.
But it's even worse to realize that you can't trust your own memory either.
Start over.
My name is Marat. Today...

Game Features:
Choices you'll have to answer for. Your decisions affect relationships between characters, Marat's state of mind, and what happens later in the story. Some consequences won't reveal themselves until much later.
Russia, 2005. Flip phones, ICQ, old computers, panel apartment blocks, and teenage street showdowns are all part of the characters' everyday lives — and of the story itself.
An unreliable narrator. Sleeplessness and fear gradually distort Marat's perception. His memories clash with what others tell him, and even his own inner monologue can't always be trusted.
More than just reading dialogue. Explore scenes, make decisions under pressure, and take part in interactive sequences woven directly into the story.
There is no single, simple explanation. Piece together the details, watch for contradictions, and decide for yourself where reality ends and what Marat needs to believe begins.
⚠️ Content Warning:
This game contains scenes of violence, aggressive behavior, and strong language.

KARA IS OUT NOW!
It finally happened. After all the reviews, delays, and endless waiting, we have pressed the button. The first two acts of KARA are now available on Steam. Welcome to provincial Russia in 2005: school corridors, old mobile phones, strange encounters, and a story where every chapter makes it harder to understand what can actually be trusted. Thank you to everyone who wishlisted the game, played the demo, left comments, or simply kept waiting. We have wanted to share this story with you for a very long time. Should you encounter a bug during your playthrough, please let us know in the Steam discussions. We will be watching the feedback and releasing any necessary fixes as quickly as possible. It's time to return to Russia in 2005 and find out what happened to Marat...Read full article on Community Announcements (IKARUS)AnnouncementsOfficial
KARA Is Ready — We’re Waiting for Steam
UPD: The game has been approved! What a timing: just a few hours after this announcement was published, Steam completed the review. KARA releases today, August 1, at 7:00 PM Moscow time / 4:00 PM UTC. See you very soon. ______________________________ Well, the calendar says August, and KARA still is not out! We genuinely wanted to release the game in July, as promised. Unfortunately, Steam’s review process has taken much longer than we expected. Everything on our end is ready: the build has been uploaded, all requested changes have been made, and the store page has been approved. Right now, we are only waiting for Steam to complete the second review. We are not announcing another exact date yet. After what happened, we do not want to make another promise that depends on something outside our control. That said, this is not a major delay and the game does not require additional development. As soon as Steam gives us the green light, we will announce the release. We have not been sitting aroundWhile waiting for the review, we went through the game once again and managed to: fix several additional bugs;perform another round of final build testing;add a dedicated Streamer Mode. The new mode censors parts of the voice-over and replaces some of the harsher lines with safer alternatives. It is intended for anyone planning to play the game on Twitch or YouTube without risking trouble over a few particular words. The original version of the game is not going anywhere, of course. Streamer Mode is entirely optional and can be enabled separately in the settings. Thank you to everyone who is still waiting. We are also tired of staring at a release button we are not allowed to press yet. KARA is ready. We are almost there.Read full article on Community Announcements (IKARUS)
