Smoother Recycling
We have changed how recycling values are calculated so that prices change more smoothly. Recent activity now has a stronger effect on the price, while older data gradually loses its importance. Previously, a price could change suddenly once outdated statistics were no longer included. Their influence now fades over time. The recycling process itself has also changed. The system now always takes exactly one item. If its value is below one infinum, the reward is rounded randomly while preserving the average value. For example, if an item is worth 0.4 infinum, you will receive 1 infinum in about 40% of cases and nothing in the rest. On average, the item is still worth 0.4 infinum.Bras, loincloths, buckets, and small workbenches can now be recycled as well.Ichu has received a few smaller changes too. Male hairstyles can now be purchased there, and large rocks have appeared on the island. Small stones periodically fall from them and can be collected.Read full article on Community Announcements (antonvatchenko)AnnouncementsOfficial
Changes over the past year
This will be our final post about earlier changes that happened before Infinigama received its Steam page. After this, we will finally move on to current news.A year ago, the game had only one server: a planet where players controlled robots and gathered resources. However, the name Infinigama suggests a wide variety of different experiences, so the next major location was a spaceship. There, players controlled an astronaut, who was relatively easy to implement without complex animations. Players still quite reasonably ask why we did not at least add an animation of the astronaut floating in zero gravity.A vending machine appeared on the ship, selling items that could be used on the planet, including territory flags, walls, and other objects. Previously, all these things somehow had to be sold directly on the planet, which did not make much sense.Later, a hotel opened aboard the ship, where players could rent a room for a day, a week, or a month. The longer the rental period, the better the price. Inside the room, players could place a workbench, craft items, and store their belongings in a container. There is currently no inventory limit, so the container is mostly groundwork for the future. However, it can already be used to store some of your money and temporarily disappear from the richest players leaderboard.A profile with skills was added at the same time. Previously, players could gather resources endlessly without feeling much sense of progression. Now crafting improves a skill, new levels unlock recipes, and some items become cheaper to produce. For example, crafting one infinum initially requires three resources, then two, and eventually only one. Developing your skills is therefore genuinely useful.Creating a complete tutorial was another major undertaking. Players are guided through the entire process: where to go, what to pick up, where to take it, and which button to press. Instructions appear in the chat, while arrows and images highlight the required...Read full article on Community Announcements (antonvatchenko)AnnouncementsOfficial
From a Website to a Game Client
In the previous article, we talked about where the name Infinigama came from. It stayed from the period when the project was trying to become a platform for different games and tasks. At that time, the website had a small game where the player controlled a rover on a planet and collected resources. It was a simple mechanic, but there was something engaging about it. That idea became the basis for the first Unity client.Instead of the rover, round robot-like characters appeared. Yes, it may look strange, and players sometimes say that they are controlling balls. But at that stage, it was a fast and understandable solution: the robot could slide across the surface, collide with objects, and collect resources without a complex character or animation system. At first, the gameplay loop was very simple. The robot moved around the planet and collected minerals.Later, collecting became less instant. A resource was no longer just picked up – it had to be brought back to the base and delivered. This created a short but more game-like chain: find a resource – bring it back – get the result. At the same time, another question appeared: how should robots work? Should players buy them permanently? Lose them after death? Keep them in the inventory? Have a separate garage? At that point, it was still an open question, but it was already clear that robots could become more than just skins – they could become part of the economy and player choice. After that, the client started getting more systems. Inventory, object placement, flags, territory capture, and the first boss appeared. It was still an experimental stage, but it was already very different from a website with separate tasks.Infinigama started turning into a game where the player does not just participate in a one-time activity, but returns to the same world, collects resources, buys items, tries new mechanics, and gradually affects the map.Read full article on Community Announcements (antonvatchenko)AnnouncementsOfficial
Why Infinigama?
The name Infinigama did not appear right away. Before it, there were Cell City, Planet Online, Virtles, NSTD, and other name variations. So there may be a logical question: why is the game now called Infinigama, and not Virtles or NSTD, even though it is not that different from them?Because at one point, the project almost went in a different direction. Some time ago, the author of this project was developing a YouTube channel and running games there with real cash prizes. People drew pictures, guessed songs, completed tasks, and even ran around the city to take photos of specific things. It was fun, active, and helped the channel grow quite quickly. After that, the idea appeared to move these games into a digital format. At first, there were websites with tasks, then ideas with Telegram bots, and then the thought of making a new online game every week: no accounts, no registration, just open it and participate. At first, it seemed very convenient. But it quickly became clear that players still needed an identity: a name, progress, and a place where they could be themselves. So the idea gradually turned into a spaceship flying somewhere into infinity. It had rooms with games, chat, resources, and different activities. That is when the name Infinigama appeared – an infinite game. Not one specific game, but a space where different worlds, rules, and formats could appear. Sometimes online, sometimes in real life. But this idea had problems. Website games felt unfamiliar to many people. And real-world tasks are difficult to make global: people are located in different cities and countries, not in one place. In the end, the project returned to something closer and more understandable: an online world with characters, clothes, resources, real estate, trading, and live interaction between players.Yes, in this sense, Infinigama continues the line of Virtles and NSTD. But the name was not changed.Besides, the name still fits quite well. Because Infinigama today is not just one mod...Read full article on Community Announcements (antonvatchenko)AnnouncementsOfficial
Infinigama: A New Chapter of an Old Project
Infinigama is the new name of a project with a very long history.A long time ago, it started as Cell City. Then came Planet Online, Virtles, NSTD, and other versions. They were different visually, technically, and in terms of features, but the core idea stayed similar: a living online world where players walk around as their characters, chat, buy clothes, watch their stats, eat food, work, buy real estate, and order unique custom items. The first version appeared back in 2006. At that time, it was a simple online game with walking characters and chat. At first, players could only walk around and talk, but professions, money, trading, houses, clothes, and the first player-created stories began to appear very quickly.Over the years, the project changed many times. It was pixel isometric, then regular isometric, then it moved into 3D. But back then, 3D on mobile devices looked terrible, so the game returned to 2D again.Sometimes the project closed. Sometimes it came back again – with a new name, a new look, and new ideas. But the desire to create a living online world never disappeared. Now it is a universe of different worlds, where each world can have its own rules, locations, resources, and gameplay. Some worlds focus more on exploration and adventure, while others focus more on trading, crafting, or competition between players. The game is currently in closed access. If you want to try Infinigama, you can get a key through our social networks. The links are available on the side of the game’s Steam page. This is the first post on the Steam page, but it is far from the first step for the project. Behind it are more than 15 years of experiments, mistakes, restarts, and new attempts. Now I want to continue developing this universe together with the players.Read full article on Community Announcements (antonvatchenko)
