About this game

Welcome to the control room of a dark, industrial haunted attraction. Scream Operator is a spooky pixel-art management sim where you operate and manage your very own dark ride.

You oversee the complete flow of the ride. From loading anxious guests and triggering the pre-show, to routing empty carts back into the depot: every single action is in your hands.

Drag-and-drop props, lighting, and animatronics inside the attraction. Every item you place permanently raises the maximum Scare Score of your dark ride, which directly impacts the cash you earn at the exit.

Cash pays the bills, but your true success is measured in Prestige. Spend your hard-earned prestige to streamline your operation. Buy impressive decorations for the queue, automate manual labor with advanced systems, or upgrade your ride vehicles to crush those wait times.

Start with the tutorial, and work yourself through a variety of unique shifts, all bringing new challenges and experiences to the table. Are you able to work through the Halloween, the bussiest night of the year? And what happens when your attraction is visited by an infamous legend of horror?

  • Manage the crowd and queues

  • Customize the ride with props, animatronics and other decorations

  • Control the whole dark ride from the control room

  • Balance power capacity

  • Obtain scare and immersion scores

  • Upgrade your queue, preshows and station

  • Automate doors, loading, dispatch and more!

  • Survive unique and thrilling shifts

  • Earn enough cash to keep your haunted house running

Come say hi in our Discord Server!

Calling all Operator Trainees to register in our Discord Server. With development progressing smoothly and the Halloween Demo coming up soon, it's time to introduce you to Arthur, the friendly old caretaker of the haunted mansion where you'll soon be starting your first shift as operator of an old, decaying dark ride. Arthur will be here to teach you the basics of the operator trade, and will fill you in here and there on the mysterious past of the mansion. To prepare for your first shift, you're cordially invited into the Discord Server of Scream Operator, where you can celebrate your new job with fellow operator trainees, and keep an eye out for new bits and pieces of information regarding the responsibilities that await you. Maybe you're even brave enough to take a leap forward and join the group of TEST OPERATORS, a notorious gang of explorers who are the very first to experience (and critique) the true life of being in the control room. A message from the dev On a more personal note: I'm genuinely happy with how the current playtests are going. It's been great watching the game get played by people outside my own head for a change. Honestly, I can't wait to meet all of you in the Discord, to spar about ideas, hear your honest opinions, and build the best possible version of Scream Operator together. See you in the control room. (that's me).

Scream Operator featured on Rock Paper Shotgun!

Hi everyone,I am absolutely thrilled to share some massive news regarding the development of Scream Operator. Today, Rock Paper Shotgun published a dedicated feature on the game!As a solo developer, having a major outlet like RPS organically pick up the game and dive deeply into its mechanics is an incredible milestone. Editor Edwin Evans-Thirlwell took a close look at the queueing systems, the interface, and the core management loop. Here are a few highlights from the article that completely blew me away:"It's a 'cosy-spooky' themepark strategy sim in which you attempt to maximise the chills...""I find the game's presentation quite appealing. It's a little MicroProsaic in places."Reading that the interface gives off "MicroProsaic" vibes is the ultimate compliment for a management sim developer. The article also highlights exactly what I am trying to achieve with the queueing system, proving that a long line might be great for business, but it requires active management to keep guests terrified and entertained before they even board the ride. What's Next?Seeing the game validated by a platform like Rock Paper Shotgun gives me a huge boost of energy. I am currently pouring all my time into the simulation mechanics to prepare for our first playable public demo, which is scheduled for this Halloween (October 2026). The full release is targeted for early 2027.You can read the full Rock Paper Shotgun article hereIf you haven't already, wishlisting the game helps the project tremendously and ensures you get notified the exact moment the Halloween demo drops.Thank you all for the continued support!Japhet
