About this game

A tower defense game about holding the line when the battlefield refuses to stay still.

Build your defenses, manage your positioning, and survive wave after wave as new portals open and fresh attack routes appear. Use your towers to push back the fog of war, reveal hidden threats, and keep control of the battlefield.

Early waves give you room to learn, but the pressure rises quickly. You will need to adapt and make every tower count.

Enemy variety keeps each wave unpredictable. Fast raiders speed past slower units, swarms overwhelm unprepared defenses, shield units protect nearby threats, stealth enemies hide themselves and others, flying units bypass parts of your setup, and bosses bring heavier attacks that can break a careless strategy.

Key Features

  • Dynamic battlefields with new portals and attack routes

  • Fog of war that hides parts of the battlefield and incoming threats

  • Classic real-time tower defense gameplay built around positioning and adaptation

  • Eight enemy types, including shield support, stealth threats, flying units, swarms, raiders, and boss encounters

  • Rotatable and zoomable camera controls

    Update + Official Release Date!

Hello everyone,I've decided to again move the release date of The Aether Project to October 2nd, 2026.I apologize to everyone who was expecting the game sooner. Delaying the release is necessary in this case.I do not want to release an unfinished version of The Aether Project that falls short of what I originally envisioned. The additional development time will allow me to improve the overall quality, expand the story, polish the mechanics, and make sure the game offers a more complete and enjoyable tower-defense experience at launch. The release will not mark the end of development. After October 2, I plan to continue supporting the game with new levels, additional challenges, balancing improvements, bug fixes, and other content. What has recently been addedDevelopment has continued steadily, and several additions and improvements have already been completed:A new sea-themed level (Level 5)Performance optimizationsA new loading screenA new ability created for the sea levelNumerous bug fixes and general improvementsEnemy count display for each waveNew Quality setting: MSAA: OFF, 2x, 4x, 8xWhat I am currently working onAether RiftsAether Rifts are a new gameplay system that can introduce unpredictable events during a battle.Rifts may create new enemies in the middle of the battlefield, empower enemies, interfere with towers, or otherwise disrupt the battlefield. Players will need to react to these events that spawn at random places and adapt their strategy instead of relying on the same defensive layout throughout an entire level.More sea-themed mapsThe sea environment will be expanded with additional maps, layouts, mechanics, and challenges.New environments and main menuI am also developing several other themes for the game, including:SwampDesertThe Aether DimensionEach environment is intended to offer its own visual identity, battlefield layouts, and strategic challenges.StoryI am continuing to develop the story that connects the different environments of The Aether ...

Steam Next Fest Demo Release and Roadmap!

Greetings everyone. I am a solo indie developer striving to make a good tower defense game. Above this text you can see the roadmap that I currently have. I will be doing my best to maintain the demo while also working on the release version of the game. Right now I will be mainly focusing on level design and gameplay and further on I will start incorporating the Campaign I have planned.More details about the full 1.0 release, including its content and release plans, will be shared later on. I am currently aiming for a base price of around €9.99 at launch. (around $11) Final regional pricing may vary and will be confirmed closer to release.Every feedback and criticism for the game is welcome. I want to make a good game to serve the community. I will include a bug report/feedback form below (bug report in game coming soon): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf4QcHVodf6mcHVIScr-v2Ily3bKtQlSFZyvFjjVC19IMgcqg/viewform?usp=publish-editor
