About this game

Spire of Ash

A dark-fantasy auto-battler dungeon crawler where strategy is everything. Build your team, forge your gear, and push deeper into an ever-scaling spire — where every decision compounds and every run tells a different story.

Inspired by the depth of Path of Exile's crafting, the tactical positioning of TFT-style hex combat, and the endless scaling of Mythic+ dungeons.

Assemble Your Heroes

Choose from 36 unique heroes spanning Defensive, Offensive, and Support roles. Each hero brings a distinct identity to the battlefield — tanks that anchor the front line, assassins that exploit positioning, healers that keep your squad alive through impossible odds.

Build a 5-man team from your unlocked roster. Composition matters: the right synergies turn a good team into an unstoppable one.

144 Skills. Infinite Builds.

Every hero wields a deep toolkit of skills, ultimates, stances, and party buffs. With 144 unique skills across the roster, no two teams play the same way.

Watch your squad execute in real-time hex-based combat — positioning, timing, and ability interactions all matter.

Gear Up

Equip your heroes with powerful gear enhanced by 42 distinct affixes, each scaling across 8 tiers of power. Chase the perfect rolls. Stack the right stats. Turn a solid hero into a force of nature.

Six elemental influences shape your gear's identity — build around fire, ice, lightning, shadow, holy, or poison to amplify your strategy.

Deep Crafting

A crafting system built for theorycrafters. With 290 crafting currencies, you have granular control over every piece of equipment. Reforge, augment, and fine-tune your gear to exact specifications.

This isn't random-and-pray crafting — it's a system that rewards knowledge and planning.

Aether Cards

Collect and build decks from 988 Aether cards across 3 types and 4 rarities. Cards provide powerful passive bonuses and build-defining effects that reshape how your team fights.

Rip open booster packs to expand your collection. Chase rare cards that unlock entirely new strategies.

Dungeon Runs

The core of Spire of Ash. Push through procedurally challenging dungeon floors, fighting enemy packs and collecting loot along the way. Every run scales with infinite key levels — the deeper you go, the harder it gets, and the better the rewards.

Dynamic affixes modify each run, forcing you to adapt your strategy on the fly.

Loot That Matters

Every enemy pack is a chance at meaningful drops. Gear, crafting materials, Aether cards, and currencies flow through a loot system designed to keep every run rewarding — whether you're on key level 1 or key level 100.

Four Game Modes

- Dungeon Clear — Push through floors of enemies and bosses. The classic dungeon crawl, endlessly scaling.

- Boss Rush — Skip the trash. Face a gauntlet of bosses back-to-back. Pure mechanical challenge.

- Survival — How long can your team endure? Waves of enemies with no end in sight.

- Gauntlet — A curated challenge run with preset conditions. Prove your mastery.

Each mode supports both Softcore and Hardcore variants. Hardcore means one life — no second chances.

Challenges & Objectives

Unlock rewards through a progression system of challenges that push you to explore every corner of the game. Master each hero, conquer specific modes, and hit milestones that test your depth of play.

Global Leaderboards

Compete against players worldwide with per-mode global leaderboards. See how your deepest clears, fastest boss rushes, and longest survival runs stack up.

Spire of Ash v1.1.8: Boss Rush Fix, Bulk Salvage & Chinese Localization

Spire of Ash v1.1.8 (Build 98) This update fixes a boss rush stability issue, adds quality-of-life for salvaging and pack opening, and brings full Chinese localization to items, currency tooltips, and inventory search. Boss Rush Stability Fix Fixed a race condition where Auto-Run boss rush could declare victory after boss 2 instead of continuing to boss 3 (~50% chance to trigger). Boss rush progress is now preserved through worker state resyncs. Added safeguards against double-counting boss deaths. Bulk Salvage Uniques New "All Uniques" option in the salvage dropdown for mass-salvaging unique items in one click. A confirmation dialog appears before salvaging to prevent accidents. Favorites and legendaries are always protected from bulk salvage. Chinese (zh-CN) Localization — Items & Currency Item tooltips, item cards, and copy-to-clipboard now display fully localized affix text in Chinese. All currency and orb tooltip descriptions are now localized (orbs, inscriptions, sigils, imprints, edicts, glyphs, keys). Currency tooltip keyword highlighting (lock, reroll, upgrade, etc.) works in Chinese. Inventory search and the regex filter now match against localized stat and affix names. The loot filter condition editor shows localized implicit stat previews. Pack Opening Summary Improvements The bulk pack opening modal now shows all pulled cards grouped by type with counts, instead of only the top 10 rarest. Displays the count of unique card types pulled. Long card lists scroll properly with a fixed header and footer. Removed accidental dismiss on backdrop click — an explicit close or continue button is now required. New Item Modifiers "X% more Poison Damage" base implicit now displays correctly. "Damage taken from Mana before Life" stat has proper tooltip text. Hero Skill Tag Cleanup Removed incorrect "aura" tags from ~20 hero skills (buffs, warcries, curses, heals) — improves skill filtering and search accuracy. Thanks for playing.

Spire of Ash v1.1.7: Auto-Run Filters, Combat Balance, and Lighting Overhaul

Spire of Ash v1.1.7 (Build 97) This update focuses on giving Auto-Run more control, correcting two combat balance issues, improving dungeon atmosphere, and polishing search, crafting, and performance across the board. Auto-Run Queue Upgrades Filter queued keys by key type and rarity so you can target exactly the runs you want. Sort keys by level for easier queue planning. Drag-to-reposition keys directly in the stash for faster queue setup. If a key fails to load, Auto-Run now skips it and continues to the next key instead of stopping. Auto-Run automatically quits to the summary screen once combat ends. The between-run summary now stays on screen longer (10 s default, configurable up to 30 s). Key filters are collapsible, and key tiles are larger for easier reading. Combat Balance Fixes Creeping Doom detonation now only hits enemies. Previously it could detonate on allied heroes. Overload Charge now scales from the caster's HP instead of the target's HP and only damages hostile units. This prevents chain-reaction party wipes at high key levels. Crafting: Lattice Orb Improvements Lattice Orbs are now blocked when the item is already at maximum sockets. A Lattice Orb will never reroll into the same socket count. All socketed sigils are preserved when socket count changes. Dungeon Lighting & Rendering Each game mode now has its own dynamic light budget, so expeditions, boss rush, and regular dungeons each look distinct. Expedition lighting has been rebalanced — fog density, bloom intensity, and ambient levels are tuned for better atmosphere. Fixed a mirrored dungeon piece yaw issue that could cause visual seams. Material light synchronization improvements reduce flickering when moving between dungeon rooms. Localization & Search Item search and the currency picker now search against localized text, so searching in Chinese and other languages works correctly. The item regex filter now includes localized affix names in its results. Performance & Stability Cloud sync is n...

Thank You — And a Major Upgrade Is Coming

To every single person who has purchased, played, and believed in Spire of Ash — thank you. From the bottom of my heart. When I started this project, it was a small personal experiment. I've been a web developer for eight years, and JavaScript is the only language I've ever really worked with. So the entire game you're playing right now — every system, every battle, every screen — is built in JavaScript. I pushed it as far as I possibly could, but I've hit the technical ceiling of that architecture. That's why performance has been a pain point, and I'm sorry about that. But here's the good news. The 3D Rebuild Thanks to your support, I've been able to purchase a massive library of professional 3D assets, and I am actively rebuilding the entire 3D portion of the game in Godot. This means: Dramatically better performance — no more frame drops or sluggish combat Full-screen support Beautiful new character models, enemies, and environments A real game engine doing what game engines are built to do This is my primary focus right now. I am working on this every single day. Bug fixes will continue alongside the rebuild, but make no mistake — this is the big one. My Promise To You When the rebuilt version is ready, every existing customer will receive it as a free update. No extra charge. No separate purchase. You believed in this game early, and you will be rewarded for that. I need to be honest with you — this will take some time. I am one person. But I will work day and night to make this the best game I can possibly make. You gave me the chance to turn a little JavaScript side project into a real game with real performance, real visuals, and real polish. I won't waste that chance. Thank you for believing in the vision. Just give me a little time. - Aaron

Spire of Ash v1.1.6: Auto-Run Upgrades and Stability Fixes

Spire of Ash v1.1.6 (Build 96) This update continues the push to make repeated dungeon runs smoother, build planning clearer, loot evaluation faster, and long-session stability more dependable. Auto-Run Queue and Key Management Queue multiple keys and run them back-to-back from a single setup screen. Reorder, remove, or clear queued keys before you start. The Auto-Run key browser now supports search, key type filters, rarity filters, and level sorting. Key rows and queue entries are easier to scan, making it faster to build farming routes. The in-run Auto-Run HUD still lets you pause, resume, or stop the sequence at any time. Between runs, the summary card now better supports smooth continuation, including more reliable countdown and skip behavior. Auto-Run is more resilient when a queued key fails to activate or a runtime setup step fails, reducing stalled queues. Aether Deck Builder Improvements The new Deck Overview panel gives your equipped deck a much clearer summary. See total and remaining Aether, total cards, unique cards, and average cost at a glance. Category and tag breakdowns are easier to read, making synergy checks faster. Validation warnings and errors are clearer when a deck is over budget or over copy limits. Recommendation and tag data received a broader curation pass. Loot, Inventory, and Comparison UX Ground loot and gear evaluation now support side-by-side comparison against the best equipped item. Comparison behavior can be set to always visible, shown only while holding C, or turned off. Comparison targeting is smarter for weapons, rings, flasks, and other slot edge cases. Collected loot and inventory follow-up messaging are clearer during repeated Auto-Run sessions. Team Builder and Meta Slot Clarity The party sidebar can now collapse into a compact portrait rail. Meta Slots now present their category, bonuses, and drawbacks more clearly. Party slot accounting is easier to read when mixing regular heroes with Meta Slots. Dungeon Lighting, Com...

You can skip the countdown and jump straight into the next queued key. Aether Deck Builder Improvements The new Deck Overview panel gives your equipped deck a much clearer summary. See total and remaining Aether, total cards, unique cards, and average cost at a glance. Category and tag breakdowns are easier to read, making synergy checks faster. Improved corridor connectivity and walkability handling in procedural and custom dungeon generation. Realtime, chat, tr...
