About this game

No, it's not your first day.

Single-player, survival cosmic horror, in the SCP universe. Manage limited resources, survive all-new anomalies, reset your memory, and explore the forgotten depths of the Antimemetics Division.

You are an Archivist, a Class-D convict working in Data Retention at the SCP Foundation’s newest research facility. It’s probably 1976, but Amnestic drugs are designed to reset your memories, so that’s just a guess.

Site-48 sits empty. If there was a containment breach of Antimemetic anomalies, would you even remember?

Antimemetic Data Retention is a program designed to try and keep track of ideas and research that do their best to erase themselves from perception and memory. Unthinkables.

How can you study something if you don’t remember it exists? Your job is to see things the universe doesn’t want you to see, though this eventually leads to a condition known as "Conceptual Burnout."

Game Features:

  • Explore Site-48, original home of the Antimemetics Division, otherwise known as "the Unthinkables."

  • Survive reality-bending encounters with the echoes of recently erased personnel.

  • Collect retro-analog SCP tech to sterilize Burnouts, repel predatory Anomalies, and survive this containment breach.

  • Take memory-wiping Amnestics to heal your own burnout, and use the experimental Mnestic Rebreather Mask to investigate forgotten concepts and reveal hidden artifacts.

  • Track down and incinerate dangerous Cognitohazards to earn facility Credits.

  • Solve Tactile Puzzles, manage an unstable power grid, and do whatever it takes to avoid burnout.

Learn as much as you can about the unthinkable events that happened here. Though in this place, knowing too much is a death sentence.

    Patch Notes v0.25

NextFest was great, and the Discord saw a good amount of bugs that have mostly been addressed. Report more bugs! https://discord.gg/QWuMEYM6Ah Also, Unreal 5.8 came out, and I experimented with the "performance improvements" of Lumen Lite, potentially a huge upgrade for lower-spec computers? A 5.8 build actually went live for a few minutes, until I did a side-by-side comparison and learned the 5.8 version was performing WORSE than 5.7. Curious. It probably means the irradiance probes save me a trivial amount of GPU, but cost a significant amount of CPU.In the process of testing 5.8, I also tested the new Medium setting on a gen 1 Steam Deck, and was pleased to see acceptable framerates with software raytracing enabled. The game should now default to lowest settings when running on SteamDeck. I'll look into the full SteamDeck certification after a little more testing. Feature Add: There are finally Audio Logs in the facility, telling the beginnings of the story of what happened here. Reading from computer terminals is fine, but audio feels so much more immersive. More coming soon, though at some point I need to stop adding to the demo and branch the full game. Silly Feature Add: Throwing the mysterious dark crystals into a Compactor now has interesting results. This will be a method for opening stubborn doors in the full game.Lots of small visual improvements: Too many to count, but most involve lighting. Ceilings should look way less dark on Medium settings. Accessibility:The Gamepad implementation was pretty weak, so I tuned all the menus to hopefully make it a better experience using a controller. Added "Invert Y" check box in Control SettingsRe-ordered many of the Settings options, to allow more predictable navigation with gamepad. Looked into using Steam Input API for robust control remapping. It's a lot of work. Still looking for a solution that will satisfy all control schemes, but not take months to implement. Known Issues:There is an issue with environment s...

    Patch Notes: v0.21

Discord link! https://discord.gg/QWuMEYM6Ah Thanks for playing the SCP: Antimemetics Division demo! I've patched a few times per day, so here is what most of them contained. Storage is now open! The force-field around Storage was added to streamline the demo, but in reality it left players with a full inventory and no good place to convert it to credits. Storage has the second Reclamation Terminal, which actually used to be the only one, before another was added in the Warehouse. There is a shadow creature in Storage that has gotten loose, but fortunately it does not deal damage. Yet. it tends to scare the crap out of me, being physics-based, but the jury is out on if I can control it enough for the full game. Minor redesign: Hazards are now "Remnants." I debated calling the collectible items "Cognitohazards" or "Infohazards," so instead was just calling them "Hazards." Now they are "Remnants," a special kind of orphaned object that has lost "conceptual cohesion." In-game this just means I renamed them to be "Handheld Ceramics with Loop" instead of a coffee mug, because this item no longer makes sense to the observer. Balance Update: Major increase to the amount of credits earned for Un-redacting documents. Taking damage for reading a computer file is a big ask, so rewards have been increased from 1 for anything, to between 2 and 4 depending on level of corruption. To compensate, a few Remnant items have been removed, and others have had their recycle value slightly lowered. Spoiler: The Mnestic Rebreather Mask now does a small amount of Burnout damage per second while worn. This will likely be redesigned, but if the ~60 seconds of usage this allows is not enough, I can remove the damage. Optimization Updates: The Screen Percentage slider was not working. Changed from using a console command, to properly function using Apply Graphics Settings. The "Medium" graphic setting should make a bigger impact on framerate, though it turns the ceilings dark. Still looking for ...
