About this game

Fight Together. Die Together. Loot Forever.

Soulbound is a pixel-art action-MMO where every dungeon run reshapes your build. Charge into roguelite dungeons with friends in 3-player co-op, chain devastating ability combos from 100+ combinations, and return to a living open world where you farm, craft, and uncover a mystery that runs deeper than any dungeon floor.

A New Take On The MMO: Where Every Dungeon Run Is Different

Soulbound splits its world in two: a shared overworld full of quests and adventure, and brutal instanced dungeons that never play the same way twice. Every floor reshuffles encounters, hazards, and loot and every room unlocks new relics that warp your abilities in ways you didn't plan for. This is a one of a kind MMO-meets-roguelite hybrid that fuses our favourite meta progression systems with the chaos of survivor-like combat.

100+ Ability and Relic Combos To Build Out

Enter the dungeon and pick from 10+ abilities that create unique class builds with branching relic paths. Stack a chain-lightning relic on your mage's Pyrosphere and watch mobs evaporate. Layer life-steal onto a berserker's hammer and turn your AoE into a heal for your party. Every relic run offers new synergies you've never tried, and the best builds are the ones nobody planned.

As you swap your gear, you swap your class instantly. Tank for your friends on Monday, rain bullets on Thursday, your character is every class you want it to be, whenever you want it to be.

Explore A Huge, Shared Open World With Friends

Step out of the dungeon and the pace shifts. Soulbound's open world is a shared space where thousands of players farm, gather, trade, and quest side by side. Tend your crops, fish a quiet river or stumble into a quest line that unlocks an ability you didn't know existed. The overworld is where you discover the skills and upgrades that make your next dungeon run deadly.

Every life skill feeds back into your progression with cooking restoring stamina, gathering unlocking crafting materials for gear and buffs and mining unlocking crafting stations to build the weapons that defines your class.

Customise Your Character With Hundreds of Gear Pieces and Thousands of Looks

Gear in Soulbound does two things: makes you powerful and makes you you. Separate cosmetic slots mean your stats never dictate your style as you collect handmade, uniquely animated pixel-art armor sets, rare cosmetic drops, and companion pets. Mix and match freely and make your character look exactly how you want.

Build Your Home, Tend To Your Farm and Level Up Your Stations

Every player gets their own base, and it's where your meta progression lives. Inside it, you construct and upgrade stations that unlock new gear tiers, potions that tip dungeon runs in your favor, and meals that push your stamina further. Decorate every room with furniture, trophies, and a full room-layout editor. Invite your friends and start building your guild base.

Something Is Wrong With This Lore Rich World

You awaken inside a digital universe that feels alive… but hostile. Early in your journey, you encounter The Anima, enigmatic and malevolent entities that overwhelm you with impossible force. Death isn’t the end, however. You’re recovered by a robotic rescuer and brought to your Virelda, a safe haven, workshop, and base of operations. As a Pioneer, you’ve got a lot to do before you can stand against The Anima.

Patch 6.5 - Overworld Performance Boost

HighlightsThe performance patch. with increased numbers of players in each room Crowded areas across the overworld run better, other players and NPCs appear within seconds of you arriving instead of trickling in, and they no longer pop in and out as you cross area boundaries.Mount and camera movement are smoother, with pixel-perfect rendering so the world no longer shimmers as the camera scrolls.World loading and chunk swapping are faster, and the game now remembers sprites between sessions so returning to an area loads far quicker.Added a V-Sync option to Graphics settings, and removed the hidden 30 fps fallback that could quietly lock your framerate.Raised the player cap on the Tutorial and Virelda maps.Achievements: progress on incomplete achievements is now rebuilt from your play history, achievements you already earned are granted retroactively, and Global achievement rewards can be claimed as soon as you reach them. ENG-1788 ENG-1737 BUG-1586Performance & SmoothnessRebuilt how the game loads sprites. Loading now happens in the background with a strict per-frame budget instead of decoding one sprite at a time on the main thread, so a crowd of players or NPCs dressing in no longer causes multi-frame freezes.Added a persistent on-disk sprite cache. Sprites you have seen before load from disk on your next visit, so returning to a world is much faster. Your first visit to an area is unchanged.Improved world loading. Nearby players, NPCs, gathering nodes and your tools are now fetched behind the loading screen, so far fewer things pop in after the fade. Loading screens may take a few seconds longer as a result.Improved chunk swapping. Large world updates are split into smaller packets, spawns are spread across frames, and the game applies incoming data within a hard per-frame limit, removing the 12 to 30 ms spikes that used to hit when a busy area streamed in.Other players are no longer removed and respawned when you cross an area boundary. They stay in the world fo...

Patch 6 - Unique Dungeon Set Drops

Hello Pioneers, our big update for this patch is unique dungeon set drops! Now, the equipment drop pools are organized by faction.Farpoint dungeon drops Foundation gearLunar dungeon drops Lunar gearEverdune dungeon drops Neotilus gearEastern Reach dungeon drops Virelda gear (and at Tier 3 you can also get Lunar gear)This means you'll be able to choose the dungeon you run based on the gear you want! Plus, as requested by the community the stack limit for Relic Refreshers has been increased from 20 to 100! Now you can refresh Relics to your hearts content. That's not all though, this update also includes a partial region consolidation of servers. US West 1 players will be moved to the USA Central 1 server and the EU West 3 players will move to the Europe West 1 server! Any ping increase should be negligible, and now you'll be able to interact with more of your fellow players! A new region is coming soon as well, so stay tuned for more updates on that!Plus, our friends from China and Japan can join us more easily than ever with dedicated Chinese and Japanese fonts for dialogues and tutorial text.Last but not least, we wanted to highlight some important bug fixesAchievements have been fixed, so completed achievements now reliably appear as completed in the Achievement Diary for claiming rewards and you won't get any erroneous notification dots on the Achievement Diary anymore either!Plus we fixed a nasty bug allowing for repeated potion usage, so now you'll have to wait until you've drunk your first potion before using another one! No more double fisting those potions, Pioneers. That covers the most notable changes, but keep reading for the full update.Server & Region ChangesWe're consolidating our US and EU regions onto one server each: US West 1 is moving to the US Central 1 server, and EU West 3 is moving to the Europe West 1 server. The US West 1 and EU West 3 regions will be closed down after the move.Players moving servers can expect ping to increase by approximatel...

Patch 5 - Achievements Launch + Early Game Rework

Hello Pioneers, Welcome to this Thursday’s patch notes, and we've got some exciting news for you all: achievements are back! Unlocking an achievement creates a dedicated notification icon in the quick access menu, and we've optimised performance so that your achievement progress will update quickly as you play! If you find any issues with the achievement system, please contact us through in-game support so our support team can track down the issue for you! We've improved the dungeon experience so you can try out new relics. If you enter the dungeon with empty ability slots, reaching the level to unlock that slot's ability will let you select from a random ability instead of a normal relic. This means you can experiment with abilities you haven't unlocked yet and reach a full loadout even without a full set of abilities!Players with all ability slots already filled will get a normal relic selection, as usualFOR HIGH LEVEL PLAYERS**: we know that some of you have optimised builds requiring fewer than the max number of abilities, and we've got an item just for you! Complete the new quest in Lunar City to earn `The Vacan-Sealer` item, which prevents random ability selection from appearing even if you have empty ability slots. We're also enabling globally unique usernames, which ensures that your chosen username across all of our regions are unique. Going forward, when new users register characters, the username must now be unique across all regions. For existing users: This means we have had to de-duplicate existing usernames when they collide with another character in another region. We have used the policy of the earliest account wins. The later character's username now has a number appended to the end to make it unique. We apologise if anyone has been unable to keep the username they wanted because of this. For those who have had their usernames changed: A new quest is available (Identity Manager - Name Changer) in Virelda that lets you select a new username if you wish...

Patch 4 - Instant Gear Crafting and Station Upgrades

In this patch, we've made significant changes to crafting and skilling. We found that many players were using their homes as factories, turning on different stations to craft more resources. We decided to increase generator output so you don't have to do that, and you can leave your generators and furnaces running to produce more materials. We've cut the cost of crafting all gear and weapons so they craft instantly. We've reduced the crafting time to zero for all workbench upgrades. So upgrading your stations no longer takes time and will occur instantly.Along with the cuts to crafting materials, this should make the whole experience feel much more pleasant.Upon request, we've added combat logs. Head to the settings/account menu to enable real-time combat logging, which will write combat log files to the local game data folder. You can then analyse these files to review your combat performance, and we plan to continue improving this function over time! Please keep safe when installing third-party plugins. We've got plenty of other buffs, bug fixes, and polish in this update too, so check out the full details below. New content and world changesA new high-tier fuel, the Charged Cell, is coming to generators. It produces three times as much power as coal and can be found in T4–T6 hacking nodes.Hacking and mining nodes are now appearing more often, and with higher density.Generators now produce twice as much power at every tier, making factory-style crafting more practical.Station upgrades no longer require waiting, with upgrade timers reduced to zero.Weapon and armour crafting now takes only five seconds across all tiers.Dungeon ore drops have been rebalanced to normalise dungeon rewards.Higher-tier farming now rewards appropriate XP instead of giving less experience than Tier 4 farming. Tier 4-6 seed growth timers have also been adjusted.Bud's farming requirements for purchasing seeds have been aligned to farming level requirementsT5 and T6 stim and elixir recipes now li...

Patch 3 - Legendary Effects, Tooltips + Item Fixes

Hello Pioneers, Time for the weekly patch notes. This week we bring you several fixes, updates, and general improvements, including bringing back the Viridium Yoku Fillet that was missing from some chemistry stations, and fixing an issue where some crafted Legendaries didn’t have an effect. For more details, see the list below: LoginFixed an issue that prevented users with Steam usernames containing potentially offensive words from logging in without a proper explanation or error message – players were seeing "Create new account" even after they created one.Gear & InventoryGear tooltips have been overhauled. Rolled stats now appear consistently on items in your bag, equipped slots, on the ground, and in comparison screens - and refresh properly when stats change!Legendary effects and other custom stats now more consistently display their descriptions when available.Improved stat comparisons so unusual legendary effects and non-numeric stats no longer produce broken values or crash the game.Bank, bag, and equipped items now share a more reliable inventory versioning. Bank transfers and equipment swaps no longer leave slots stuck or out of sync.Fixed a crash that could occur after dropping a piece of gear and picking it back up.Fixed an issue where Infused Yoku Chum could disappear after being moved out of the bank.Improved handling of malformed non-stackable equipment that could cause a crash during bank deposits.Improved recovery from delayed inventory updates and occupied-slot swaps, including when two equipped items exchange positions.Dungeons & CombatFixed a frequent dungeon crash caused by Cactaro enemies being reused before their hitbox data was fully initialized.Elite Hovertrix no longer finishes one attack rotation and then decides it has earned an early retirement.Technical detail: a missing logger caused the boss’s movement-timeout recovery to throw an error every tick, preventing it from returning to combat.Items, Relics & EventsCrafted Legendary gear now ...
