About this game

SURVIVE THE FRONTIER. FOLLOW THE SIGNAL.

Null Horizon is a first-person space sim about making money and staying alive at the edge of civilized space. Take contracts, haul cargo, hunt pirates, smuggle contraband, salvage wrecks, and upgrade your ship as you push deeper into dangerous sectors in search of a lost evacuation signal.

CURRENT FEATURES

- Pilot 17 ships, from fast fighters and cargo haulers to deep-space explorers and rare unlockable vessels

- Explore procedurally generated sectors filled with stations, traders, pirates, hazards, distress calls, resource fields, and stranger things in deep space

- Fight real-time starship battles from the cockpit by managing weapons, shields, energy, and ship systems under pressure

- Trade, mine, salvage, craft, and smuggle to build your ship, grow your credits, and survive longer runs into the void

- Earn trust or infamy with six factions, affecting docking access, jobs, prices, and who treats you like a customer or a target

- Build a fleet, recruit allied ships, and send squadrons on combat, escort, survey, and support missions

- Take on courier, patrol, bounty, survey, and smuggling jobs while following a story about a signal coming from beyond mapped space

The deeper you go, the better the rewards, the stronger the enemies, and the fewer safe places remain.

Prepare for departure, Captain. The Null Horizon is calling.

Taking a step back for my mental health

Hey there Captains! First, I want to thank all of you for the incredible support following the 1.0 launch and our exit from Early Access. Seeing so many of you playing and enjoying Null Horizon has been an amazing experience. However, I need to be completely transparent with you about where I am at right now. The recent level of exposure and attention the game has received has been overwhelming, and honestly, it is much more than I was prepared for as a solo developer. I've been handling everything by myself and it's honestly taxxing. It's more than I can handle right now.I suffer from severe panic disorder, and navigating this sudden surge in visibility has taken a heavy toll on my mental health. Because of this, I need to take an immediate and complete break from development to focus on my well-being.What this means for the immediate future is that I will be stepping away from actively monitoring the Discord server, bug reports, and Steam discussion boards. Null Horizon is in a solid place with the 1.1 release, and I am going to let the game stand on its own while I take the time I need to rest, recover, and get back to a healthy baseline. I've pushed one last hotfix for now that will change when NPCs post bounties on the player from a % chance per turn to per infraction. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved together with this game, and I am profoundly grateful for this community. Thank you for your patience, your empathy, and for giving me the space I need right now. Take care of yourselves,||| HopefullyHeroic

Bounty Hunter Balance Hotfix+ Interaction changes that I forgot

Rebalanced Bounty Hunter spawns from a low chance per turn to one roll per galaxy, ranging from 10% to 30% depending on the severity of the bounty. Also gave them an exhaustion system so they cannot chase indefinitely. Also also implemented the interaction changes I forgot to include with this update- attempting to move into a square that has an entity will no longer automatically interact with that entity. Instead being adjacent to any given entity will show an interaction prompt. As always, please restart Steam or verify your files to manually trigger the update if it doesn't download for you automatically Please join us in discord to report bugs, suggest features, or just hang out and talk! If you are enjoying the game, I'd love it if you could take a few minutes to leave a review on Steam. Thank you for your attention, Captains. ||| HopefullyHeroic

Consequence 1.1 and Steam OS Support

Greetings Captains! Today marks the release of Consequence 1.1! This patch introduces some highly requested major features, a complete rework of resource gathering, deep AI improvements, easier gearing up, official steps toward Steam Deck support, as well as a new player bounty system and much, much more.Without any more waffling, here are the patch notes: Major Expansion FeaturesSteamOS & Steam Deck Support: Fixed controller support and audio initialization on SteamOS, officially enabling support for the Steam Deck! I will be actively working on getting the game "Deck Verified" soon. (If you are using Proton hotfix, or any other compatibility settings, you should be good to remove them now)The Player Bounty System: Your actions have consequences, Captain. NPCs can now place bounties on your head, causing highly dangerous bounty hunters to track you down. I've also added compounding reputation losses for repeated infractions.Controller & Gamepad RefinementsSmart Highlighting: Gamepad mode now automatically highlights the first entity within three squares directly ahead of your ship.Navigation Fixes: Corrected D-pad navigation for the two-column right menu, and removed the SOS button from D-pad focus navigation (while preserving its actual controller action).Gamepad UI: Focused inventory, shipyard, and profile loadout items will now properly display their tooltips while playing in gamepad mode.Gameplay, AI & EnvironmentAdvanced NPC AI: NPC ships will now regenerate shields per turn, just like the player. Additionally, if an NPC takes significant hull damage, they will attempt to retreat and navigate to the nearest friendly habitable planet or station to repair, if not in combat.Resource Gathering Rework: Completely overhauled how harvesting works to make it more fluid and RPG-driven. Mining, salvage, and siphoning now instantly roll a d20 + your Procurement stat against a node's resource-value DC.Above DC: 2 resourcesAt/below DC: 1 resourceNatural 20: 3 resourcesNatu...

    Module Duplication Hotfix

Fixed an oversight that would write modules into the inventory twice when unequipping, duplicating said module.
