About this game
A Short Quest is a first-person RPG developed by a 2 man indie team. Together we are building a lovingly crafted RPG set within the borders of a crumbling Kingdom. The king has gone mad, goblin raids have become commonplace and you are tasked with a seemingly simple task. Take a note of great importance to the king, and survive the journey.
Adventure through the kingdom's forests, caves, crypts, and swamps filled with fully voice acted NPCs
Loot chests deep below the surface, find hidden secrets in the tree-tops, and drink a beer in the tavern
Use a variety of weapons, spells, and tools to creatively overcome tough encounters
Pit enemies against each other using a deep alliance system, friendly fire, or necromancy spells
Gain experience in combat and upgrade asymmetric melee and magic skill trees
Use items to discover their hidden properties via the Item Knowledge system

New King’s Wood Playtest Now Live!
Hey everyone, we're super excited to share 3 big pieces of news with you!First up, in preparation for the demo launch, we've kicked off a new playtest today!The King’s Wood Playtest is much bigger than the previous combat playtest. It’s basically the first steps on your journey and in the broader world of A Short Quest. You’ll fight bandits, explore the King’s Wood, meet NPCs, cook recipes, loot weapons, wield magic, level up specializations, and more. Next up, we were featured at the Future Games Show at Gamescom. Check it out: To access the playtest, just click the link on the Steam page and you’ll automatically get in. The most important part to us is getting your feedback! The best way to do that is to join our Discord server and fill out the playtest survey. And finally, we’ve signed on with a publisher. We’re working with Mad Mushroom to make A Short Quest as good as it can be and promote it to as wide an audience as possible. What’s next? After this playtest we’ll be working on a public demo. The Arena Closes
A Hermit, clearly exhausted from a long journey, arrives at the arena, carrying a note. It reads:"By order of his Majesty's Grace, the arena shall be closed in no more than 7 days' time"You heard it... We're part of the Baltic Showcase 2026!
We're pleased announce that A Short Quest is part of the Baltic Showcase 2026! We'll also be attending DevGamm Gdansk on June 18th. If you're attending the event, check out our booth and be one of the first people to playtest the Demo, we'd love to get your feedback! If you're not in Poland on June 18th, worry not! We're hard at work on the demo for A Short Quest, and it'll be available to play later this Summer.
