0.5.0 Update: Prison, New Toys, Smarter NPCs, and Better Destruction

Welcome to the new Prison update. This version adds a full prison environment with cells, gates, watchtowers, lighting, props, NPCs, spawn waves, and arena logic. New characters such as prisoners, guards, and cooks now populate the scene, with more ambient behaviors like cooking, sweeping, working out, drinking, carrying items, and sitting.Building destruction and voxel physics have been significantly improved. Structures now break apart more believably, fragments behave more consistently, penetration and cutting feel sharper, and material differences matter more during destruction. Large scenes should also handle destruction more efficiently thanks to improved voxel processing, connectivity checks, fragment handling, and performance work.A lot of new playable items and contraptions have been added: Glock, sniper rifle, grenade, chainsaw, stun baton, frying pan, shackles, shackle chain ball, guillotine, spin wheel, hydraulic presser, crusher, incinerator, and physical switch buttons. These are not just props. Grenades can be armed, timed, ignited, or detonated by high-speed impact. The Glock supports single shot and burst fire. The chainsaw cuts through voxels. The stun baton continuously shocks NPCs on contact. Food can now be bitten piece by piece to restore health.NPC behavior has also been upgraded. NPCs can better acquire targets, pick up weapons, steal or lose weapons, retaliate when attacked, fight each other, and react more naturally in the prison arena. Prison waves now include melee and ranged enemies, with improved navigation and combat behavior.Player interaction and ragdoll handling received a major pass. Grabbing NPCs, carrying characters, throwing bodies, climbing, ceiling teleporting, knockouts, get-up behavior, critical body part damage, collision strength, and weapon feedback have all been tuned to feel more stable and satisfying.Graphics has been improved with new gun, grenade, switch, electric shock, wind, eating, metal impact, and environmental ...

0.6.0 Update: NightClub, Giant Avatars, Achievements, and Better ModTK

Welcome to the NightClub update. This version introduces a fully interactive nightclub scene with a playable DJ controller, dancing NPCs, gang fights and a complete drink & smoke system. A new achievement system tracks your progress across all maps. We've spent a lot of time retuning our custom physics parameters so destruction reacts more naturally to different kinds of force. Vehicle crashes feel heavier, blades cut and penetrate more reliably, heavy objects smash through structures with a clearer sense of mass and momentum, and mutants or giants can now tear through buildings in a more convincing way.A lot of new playable items and contraptions have been added: DJ controller with dual decks and crossfader, boombox with shockwave effects, bubble gun, balloon gun, plunger, lighter, cigar, and wearable items including hats, headphones, sunglasses, and cigarettes. The drink system lets you pour, splash, and get NPCs drunk—intoxicated NPCs stumble around and may attack you if provoked. Added new DJ tracks with BPM synchronization. NPC behavior has been massively upgraded. Smarter, more dynamic NPC gunfights. Added an aggro system for human NPCs — can trigger chain reactions like bar brawls spiraling out of control. NPC limbs now have their own HP pools, with joints losing effectiveness as damage accumulates Player controller updates make VR movement and interaction smoother across a wider range of avatar types. New mutant and giant avatars are now supported, alongside persistent crouch, improved climbing, ceiling mantle transitions, better grip candidate checks and hip-side holsters. Together, these changes make grabbing, storing, climbing, crouching, and moving through tight spaces feel more reliable.Graphics and audio have been polished with new pain, hit, death, and bone-break callouts for all character types, blood spray effects, body fall sounds, and reverb-tuned metal impacts. The nightclub features custom lighting beams, emissive materials, audio-visualizer scre...

Voxel Playground v0.4 Update: Tutorial, Mods, Combat, and Better Destruction

This update makes Voxel Playground easier to learn, more fun to fight in, and more stable when the sandbox gets chaotic. It brings a bigger tutorial, stronger mod support, new mod experiences, better combat feel, improved lighting, and more reliable destruction.New Tutorial WorkThe tutorial has been expanded with a dedicated tutorial scene. It now teaches more of the sandbox directly, including opening the hand UI, driving, ranged weapons, melee weapons, the Gravity Gun, the Linker, the Thruster, climbing, building, and finishing the tutorial route. There is also a tutorial easter egg for players who explore a little. This should make the early-game onboarding smoother and give new players a better first impression of what the sandbox can do.Bigger Modding FoundationsThis update significantly upgrades the foundation of our modding ecosystem.Mods are now powered by TypeScript/JavaScript, bringing much faster iteration and compilation times, Hot Reload support, and more reliable mod loading and unloading. This allows creators to develop, test, and refine content far more efficiently than before. With the updated ModTK, creators can build deeper custom characters, avatars, vehicles, weapons, scenes, special abilities, enemy behaviors, music, UI, and scripted interactions. The overall mod creation workflow has also been improved with safer runtime behavior, streamlined testing, refreshed documentation, and a smoother development experience across both VR and Flatscreen modes.New and Improved CombatCombat should now be easier to read and more satisfying moment to moment.Melee weapons now have a clearer parry system: fast, well-timed weapon movement can block or deflect attacks instead of every fight turning into a simple exchange of hits. Swords and blades should connect more reliably, stab behavior is cleaner, and long weapons should feel less sticky when they hit enemies or objects.Ranged weapons also received a pass. More guns now have improved recoil, aiming is smarter ...
