About this game

Dive into the everyday world of an 11-year-old girl, Evi, and navigate a world that often feels too loud, too fast, and hard to understand.

Canvas of Thoughts is a cozy story-driven point-and-click adventure that invites players to explore familiar places: a classroom, a playground, a shopping mall, family gatherings, and a doctor’s office, through a neurodivergent perspective. Each location forms a self-contained chapter with its own emotional tone, visual palette, and interactive challenges.

Features

  • Story-driven, point-and-click adventure game featuring classic exploration, item collection and object combination in familiar, everyday environments.

  • Emotion-based gameplay allows player choices to influence both the protagonist’s inner state and how the world responds, translating emotional experiences into interactive mechanics.

  • Educational insight through play, illustrating how sensory input, social situations and routines can feel either overwhelming or calming, depending on the context.

  • Environmental puzzles and mini-games focus on logic, patterns, observation and self-regulation rather than speed or failure.

  • Hand-crafted 2D watercolour art and atmospheric sound design support immersion, emotional storytelling and reflective gameplay.

You explore hand-drawn scenes, click on environmental details, collect everyday objects, and combine items to solve puzzles and progress the story. Small interactions like arranging objects, creating patterns, focusing on sounds, or using familiar items, become meaningful tools to move forward.

The narrative progresses through emotion-based choices rather than traditional dialogue trees. Instead of selecting exact words, players choose how to respond emotionally, influencing conversations, puzzles, and how environments react. Every response is valid, shaping a different path through each chapter.

With its hand-drawn watercolor art style, atmospheric sound design, and focus on everyday moments, Canvas of Thoughts blends traditional point-and-click adventure design with a cozy personal narrative experience that unfolds through interaction, exploration, and reflection rather than challenge or combat.

    Update 1.0.6!

Update 1.0.6 Fixes Steam achievements should now actually unlock. Doctor's office (Chapter 5): fixed a progression blocker where the nurse couldn't be talked to even though the hint pointed at her, and Evi would end up standing on the scale behind the doctor. Sound: fixed audio artefacts that built up the longer you played (most noticeable from Chapter 3 on) Mall: pathfinding fixes so Evi no longer gets stuck or takes odd routes, plus fixes to the hairdresser scene and the lost child appearing too early. Hints have been rewritten across all chapters to be clearer about what to do next. Text: Russian proofreading pass (Chapters 2 & 3) and typo fixes in German, French and Russian dialogue. Added The hair stylist is now fully voiced (English & German). More voice lines for the lost child's mother. A second stim animation for Evi — she now varies how she self-soothes when idle. Cat cuddling: New petting animations! Small art touch-ups and additions.

    Update 1.0.5

Update 1.0.5 A content and fix pass across all five chapters: a proper ending cutscene, a rebuilt shoe-sorting puzzle, and a LOT of small things. New Outro cutscene — Chapter 5 now plays a full animated outro before the credits roll. New Chapter 3 characters — the grandma has a proper idle animation, and she's brought her walker along. Minigames Shoe sorting rebuilt — shoes are now paired into single objects and correctly sized, so the puzzle actually reads and solves the way it should. The half-repaired action figure shows the right inventory picture. Stress & Audio Mall audio no longer breaks mid-session. The overwhelm track ended instead of looping, which permanently killed the music for the rest of the chapter. All ambience beds re-levelled; the mall's bed was clipping at source. Chapter ambience no longer keeps playing on the main menu. The ice cream cart plays its music again.

    Update 1.0.4

We're pushing two more patches today, this is the first one :) Camera & Feel Reworked the dialogue zoom. The camera now moves, zooms and re-frames as one smooth motion instead of sliding first and then zooming, and there's no longer a jolt at the moment a zoom starts. Zooms now frame the whole character instead of just their head — no more characters half out of shot during conversations. Interrupting a zoom (or starting a new one mid-zoom) continues from where the camera actually is, instead of snapping. Stress & Overwhelm Fixed stress carrying over between chapters. Arriving in the playground (or any new chapter) no longer starts you already overwhelmed, with the colour wash, camera shake and overwhelm music snapping on the second the scene appeared. Each chapter now starts calm. Taking a break in the quiet room still works exactly as before. Fixed the overwhelm music in the Mall and Playground stopping for good after about a minute, leaving the rest of the chapter silent. Audio Rebalanced all ambience beds (mall, road, hair salon, playground, doctor's office, school hallway) to a consistent level. The mall ambience in particular was clipping and could get harsh over a long session. Fixed footstep sounds slowly drifting out of tune the longer you played — previously only restarting the game cleared it. Items & Crafting Repairing the action figure is now a two-step job: attach one arm, then the other. The half-repaired figure shows up properly in your inventory in between. Written proper descriptions for a batch of items that were still showing placeholder text (Action Figure and its parts, Coat, Dog Toy, Plush Frog, Puzzle Toy, Headphones, Plush Fish, Sticker). Added Candy and the Perfume Strip with full names and descriptions. All of the above is translated across English, German, French, Spanish and Russian. Fixes Fixed the assembled Action Figure and Plush Fish not reliably granting their achievements. Fixed objects from a finished chapter being cleaned up too ...

    Update 1.0.3

Canvas of Thoughts — Update 1.0.3 We're in a rush to address everything you're sending us, but no bug shall remain unsquashed :) Progression fixes (these could stop your run) Chapter 2: the story could hard-stall right before the cat hunt — Mom no longer goes missing when you approach her at the blanket. Chapter 2 is completable again. Chapter 4: the bathroom calm-down gate could not be satisfied — there was simply no way to lower Evi's stress enough. The bathtub is now a repeatable way to calm down, and the sink, mirror and laundry all help too. Stress also builds more slowly in general, and no longer builds at all in the bathroom. Chapter 3: fixed the grocery-packing minigame refusing to let you grab the last item off the belt, which could lock the checkout sequence. Chapter 4: the plush frog couldn't be picked up (its clickable area was far too small). Fixed. Fixed a crash on startup on some machines caused by the loading-screen tips. Story and characters Chapter 4's stair scene with Mom now plays in the right order, and the aunt properly leaves the hallway instead of popping out of existence. Mom now actually appears at the mall checkout instead of being stranded in the aisles, and shows up in the hair salon scene. Talking to Mom in the mall while she's busy shopping now gives Evi a fitting thought instead of an out-of-context line. Clicking the dog no longer re-opens the toy hand-off conversation — you just get Evi's observation. The jungle-gym kid's conversation can no longer be replayed to farm a second horse charm. The cat hunt now always ends at the correct hideout, instead of the cat teleporting across the map for the final reveal. The ice-cream vendor now plays her talking animation while she speaks. Fixed a line in the playground being spoken by the wrong character. Mr. Cat in the safe-space room can be petted again. Chapter 4 now starts you in the living room rather than the hallway. Credits updated. World and interaction Big pass on objects drawing in ...
