Development Update #3 - Combat Showcase

Welcome to the third official Warped Point development post. This time, I won't be explaining too much, because the video speaks for itself.Today I want to showcase the potential of Warped Point and its combat system. For the first time, you'll get to see raw gameplay footage, including fights against regular enemies and a preview of the game's first boss.Everything you'll see is still a work in progress. The boss, for example, doesn't have its final arena yet, and there are still visual effects, sound effects, and many other details left to implement (I'm not going to reveal all my secrets in this video, either). On top of that, the HUD and the overall environment are still evolving and will receive significant improvements.I hope you enjoy this first Combat Showcase and that it gives you a glimpse of the full potential of Warped Point.

Development Update #2 – Mythic Weapons and Armor

Welcome to the second official development post for Warped Point.I’ve talked several times about how Warped Point is a fast-paced combat game with adaptive enemies… but what about you? How do you actually fight? And what about the weapons?Today we’re going to take a look at some top-tier weapons and a rather special piece of armor. Tool TiersFirst of all, let’s talk about tiers, both for weapons and tools. Currently, there are a total of 5 (with provisional names):Common (Gray) - Rare (Blue) - Special (Yellow) - Mythic (Pink) - Corrupted (Purple) (For now, there are no Corrupted tools yet.)Each tier introduces differences that make a weapon or armor piece more useful. For example, Common weapons are very basic and don’t have a special attack, while Rare ones already include one.The higher the tier, the more flexible and powerful the equipment becomes… but also rarer to find. Because yes, in Warped Point (except for the tutorial), you’ll have to fend for yourself out in the world. No one’s going to hand out gear to a random outsider just because you’ve got a pretty face… right?Tutorial LoadoutLet me introduce the kit that will be available in the tutorial:Plasma Daggers"Advanced retractable claws coated in plasma, ready for fast and agile combat." Plasma daggers are a fast weapon that allows you to take down enemies in a very short time. Their special attack lets you dash toward where you’re aiming; once the dash ends, you perform a wide slash that pushes back all nearby enemies. It’s a very powerful weapon, but… don’t get too comfortable. Plasma Rail"A rail weapon that fires plasma-wrapped projectiles to increase penetration. It can store energy to release lower-powered charged shots." The most advanced technological weapon so far. The Plasma Rail has extremely high firepower: its projectiles travel at incredible speed and deal massive damage. Its main feature is that it doesn’t use traditional magazines. It requires liquid metal to operate, but once loaded, the Railg...

Development Update #1 – New Mechanic: Parry and Enemy Redesign

Hello everyone, and welcome to the first official development update for Warped Point. From now on, Steam will be the main platform where I share the project's progress. I’ll continue using Twitter to announce new posts and share smaller updates. We also have an official YouTube channel where I’ll be posting development-related content.Current Development StatusMy main goal right now is to make the first section of the game fully playable so I can release a public demo. This demo won’t just be a test — it will be the first real statement of what Warped Point is meant to feel like. Because of that, I’m being especially critical with everything that’s going to be shown.Warped Point has been in development for a year and a half, and during that time both my tools and technical skills have improved significantly. That’s why I’m currently rebuilding the enemy systems from the ground up.This redesign doesn’t change their core functionality, but it does improve their internal structure. The goal isn’t just cleaner code — it’s smarter, more reactive enemies and more consistent combat encounters.Additionally, one of the enemies has also received a visual update. New Mechanic: ParryDuring this redesign, I’ve been able to refine a mechanic that I hadn’t officially introduced until now:The Parry system. In Warped Point, you’ll be able to perform parries to counter various enemy attacks. Not all attacks can be parried with every weapon, which opens the door to a new category of weapons built around this mechanic.Under normal conditions, a parry occurs when both the enemy and the player attack each other simultaneously (as long as the enemy attack is parryable). As for projectiles, currently all of them can be parried, allowing you to choose between dodging or deflecting the attack. The parry as a tool serves more as a blocking function than a counterattack: its main purpose is to stop or deflect the enemy’s attack and shift the flow of combat, rather than to deal immediate damage. ...
