About the Game

The joy of designing boats and ships, nothing more, nothing less.

I’ve always loved ships and boats, tall ships, steamers, pre-dreadnought french monstrosities, I love em all.
ShipShaper is a  explorative ship builder I made for the simple pleasure of shaping boats and ships. You pull, push, and drag forms into place, creating everything from humble fishing vessels to tall ships, ironclads, and early dreadnoughts.
You can create historical ships, fantasy ships, steampunk you name it.

It's a boat designer married to experimental interfaces that are intended to take away the tedium from designing boats.  No 3D skills required, no endless stacks of cubes, just some organic shaping and attaching props and functional items to create whatever ship you want.

When you’re done, you can place your ships into a world and sail them,  the game does a proper analysis of your creation, its propulsion, hull shape and weight, all in order so you can properly enjoy and test your creation.

As an homage to my modding roots, I am also adding a 3D FBX e xport option, not just for 3D printing but also for modding and other indies.  ShipShaper will come with a license to use the ships you create in any way you want for your own game development, 3d Printing, board games or modding venture.

ShipShaper is about creating a foundational technology that will power my own future games, connect my franchise but also empower other creators to have fun with ships and have a usable output, game-ready and usable.

Features:

  • Free-form building

  • Responsive shaping

  • Expanding library of details and props

  • Test your ship, get sailing behavior that is derived from your design.

  • Export FBX or STL 3d files with a license to use how you see fit.

  • Export to Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles

  • Export to Future sailing game under development

The beta patch has been released for all

After a day of testing butting the "full physics" toggle in world mode live,, have fun sinking and testing your ships with this fuller simulation.. Don't put all your guns in the back, unless you want to keel over ;) Added a new full physics button that will allow ships to list, keel over and sink. stability is derived from hull rations, superstructures, gun weight, riggers and so forth. if you have no autosaves it will show the help menu when you boot the game for the first time middle hull themes change back to the previous theme after selecting the whaleback bow (which changes the middle to the humb, this now reverts to what it was before) made a new lighter smoke particlefx, that is properly lit by the boat and sky made medium and small emplacements be smaller (wider scale range).. added review reminders the 3rd and 5th save time or first time you submit a ship (only then ever, and only once if you pressed the button) made gafs longer per request made the scale of medium and small emplacements have a wider range (can get smaller) added extra scaling option to the rigger so it can be more versatile prevented infinite darktide foil spamming fixed in delete mode that if you click on the hull and then want to first delete something else it deselects the hull first so you get proper roll overs

Will it sink?, try it out with the "full physics" toggle now live on beta!

Hi everyone, Based on several requests, and cuz I agreed It'd be fun, I've made a new feature. "Full Physics" : Turn on the full physics and the ship swaps from the arcade-ey stabilized physics to a full model evaluation of the ship's hull, superstructure and outriggers. the weight of the gun and above the line structures will impact the stability of your ship. Your ship may list , keel over and sink !.. Here's a quick video.. HHave fun testing some of those monstrosities, because I also added a proper weighting calculation, so if your hull cannot float the weight,, down you go.. Go to game properties/betas and select the development beta! Cheerio, Tomas (Don't forget to leave a review, 10 short of a 100 that would make it "overwhelmingly postive" for the last 30 days.. which would be a great boon to survival. Some other small requests and bugs where also handled in the last few days.Added a new full physics button that will allow ships to list, keel over and sink. stability is derived from hull rations, superstructures, gun weight, riggers and so forth. improved and optimized the funnel smoke so it's less of a system drainif you have no autosaves it will show the help menu when you boot the game for the first timemiddle hull themes change back to the previous theme after selecting the whaleback bow (which changes the middle to the humb, this now reverts to what it was before)made a new lighter smoke particlefx, that is properly lit by the boat and skymade medium and small emplacements be smaller (wider scale range)..added review reminders the 3rd and 5th save time or first time you submit a ship (only then ever, and only once if you pressed the button)made gafs longer per requestmade the scale of medium and small emplacements have a wider range (can get smaller)added extra scaling option to the rigger so it can be more versatileprevented infinite darktide foil spammingfixed in delete mode that if you click on the hull and then want to first delete something else it...

    First Beta update available

Hi Everyone. As this is Early Access you can expect lots of updates. The first one is already available on the development beta Go to game properties/betas and select the development branch, wait for it to update and voila. I usually test these out for a day at least to see if they're stable. So if you want the latest stuff, check out that branch. added smoke to funnels when sailing (click on the ocean to set sail and watch em smoke it up)added alt +enter windowed mode support , press alt + enter to go to windowed modeimproved collisions to be less jittery added review reminder when submitting a workshop itemsome small item fixes, a funnel didn't rotate and such. Also the user reviews are nearly at 50, if the game gets 50+ reviews in a language then it will tick over to "very positive" and steam will start promoting the game more. So if you are enjoying shipshaper and you feel it deserves more dev time, please consider leaving a review today. It's still within the launch window, so everything basically has double the impact on success. Also we are nearing 200 entries in the workshop..!!! that's amazing . keep voting and sharing. If you dig a bigger audience, consider exporting to bulwark, there are nearly 100.000 owners there as well ;) if you get a kick out of that. Even if you don't own bulwark. Cheerio, Tomas
