About this game

The Giants have returned, corruption is spreading, and suspicious things are happening behind the stage...

Stack Order is a narrative roguelite deckbuilder set in a world defined by tense, one-on-one duels against bosses, where raw power is as important as foresight.

Every turn is a tactical puzzle: the enemy reveals their plan, and you must construct the perfect response with your cards. Will you panic and defend? Or will you take the hit to build a combo that ends the fight next turn?

STACKING FOR THE WIN

Forget standard card play. Here, you must stack your actions. The order matters, cards placed next and above each other interact, trigger synergies, and modify abilities.

  • Chain Reactions: Inflict a weakening blow before a strong punch to multiply your results.

  • Delayed Gratification: Set up cards in attack for next turn while preparing a defense pile for this turn.

PREDICT THE UNSTOPPABLE

Bosses in Stack Order telegraph their every move. Once you have learned all of them, the challenge no longer lies in reacting to the unexpected, but in finding a solution when the odds are stacked against you. Each boss has unique patterns and weaknesses you must acknowledge. Beware, a strategy that defeated a boss might get you in trouble against the next one.

A LIVING GRAPHIC NOVEL

More than just a boss-rush, you will discover an original world and a myriad of characters, all animated entirely by hand. Uncover the mysteries of these places: why have the giants returned, and what secrets does their reappearance hold?

The story is integrated into the gameplay sequences, told through dynamic dialogues and illustrated sequences. You follow the journeys of several characters to discover the true conclusion of the story.

BUILD YOUR DECK, YOUR WAY

Progress comes with experimentation. As you move forward, you will unlock cards, modifiers and items that will transform your playstyle. Overwhelm your opponents before they can attack with risky offensive combinations, or take your time and opt for a defensive counterattack. Find the right combination of cards and modifiers for devastating turns that leave your enemies defenseless!

FEATURES

  • Unique stacking mechanic: a new approach to card games in which sequences and anticipation create deep strategic layers and satisfying rewards.

  • Anticipate attacks: enemies announce their intentions, turning each turn into a mini logic puzzle.

  • Roguelite progression: refine your deck, boss knowledge, and strategy with each playthrough, unlocking new ways to play.

  • Narrative: a deep story of corruption and manipulation told through rich environments and character interactions.

  • Multiple playable characters:  each with their own cards, archetypes, and personalities.

  • Over 100 different cards: collected from your opponents or traded with other characters, each new card has the potential to transform your deck.

  • Over 30 unique encounters: hand-crafted bosses and NPCs that reshape your playstyle with each playthrough and reveal the game's lore.

Stack Order Demo is temporarily closing on July 22nd

Hi everyone,We just wanted to let you know that we will be taking the Stack Order demo offline in two days, on Wednesday 22nd July at 10pm CEST.As mentioned in some recent communications on Discord and social media, we have decided to focus entirely on development for the next few weeks. Taking the demo down will allow us to concentrate entirely on developing the new acts, bosses and characters, without having to maintain and fix bugs in a public-facing build at the same time.If you haven’t tried our recent gameplay overhaul yet, now is your last chance. This version includes:The Global HP System: A faster, more decisive way to defeat bosses. The Stack Preview: A major quality-of-life update that shows you exactly how your damage is calculated before you trigger a turn. The new tutorial: A dedicated fight that clearly explains our stacking mechanics.New NPCs and content: Meet the Climber and discover a few new cards. We would like to thank everyone who has played the demo over the last few months. Your feedback has formed the backbone of our development process thus far and has directly influenced the changes we have made to combat and the UI.The world of Stack Order is growing behind the scenes, and we can't wait to reveal the new locations and bosses we've been working on.The demo will return later this year with tweaks and improvements to the gameplay, and potentially even new content!Follow us on social media for weekly updates about the game, and we'll see you in the next update! Thanks for playing!Enzo & Axel from Panflip Studio

    Big Demo Update - June 2026 - V0.2.1

Hi everyone! It has been one month since we released the demo for Stack Order, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has played and shared their feedback on Discord and social media. As a two-person studio, your help in identifying bugs and clunky mechanics is invaluable to us.Important: Save Data Reset Because we have significantly reworked the core gameplay and the tutorial, we have decided to wipe save data from previous versions. This ensures you can properly experience the new combat resolution and tutorial flow. We recommend using the Fast Mode in the options if you want to speed the animations and the overall flow of combat.System & Gameplay UpdatesGlobal HP: Bosses now have a global HP pool that determines their defeat.Reworked Tutorial: Updated to reflect the new HP changes and clarify how "Broken Abilities" function.Hold-to-Activate: To prevent accidental misclicks, activating a stack now requires a "hold" input instead of a single click.Dialogue Fix: NPCs will now correctly trigger their intended dialogue the first time you meet them.Boss Healing: Healing effects now only restore a boss's global HP rather than all individual abilities.Shield Mechanics: Boss shields now deplete at the start of their turn.Targeted Card Drops: Boss cards are now earned by breaking specific boss abilities rather than through random drops.Difficulty Scaling: Tier 3 difficulty has been adjusted to increase boss HP.Boss BalancingThe Queen: "Royal Persuasion" has been nerfed and now only inflicts 1 Corruption on the player.Card & Item ReworksSerrated Slash: Now inflicts 2 Wounds (+1 per Zeal stack on the player). Upgraded version inflicts +2 Wounds per Zeal stack. It no longer deals direct damage, making it a dedicated tool for Wound stacking.Collectionite (Rework): Now triggers if exactly 3 of your stacks are filled at the start of the turn: Gain 1 Armor, inflict 1 Wound, and heal by 1.Bug FixesFixed incorrect damage previews for stacks.Fixed an issue where the stack pre...
