    Development Blog #10

Hello everyone! ✨ It's time for a new development blog! This was such a tough month! It was really difficult to work through such an intense heatwave, especially since I don't have air conditioning in my room… Still, a heatwave can't stop me! I managed to make quite a bit of progress despite the heat, so let's take a look at what I've been working on!🌙🚂 Progress 🚂🌙I continued development on Chapter 4 and completed the next area! So, I’d say that the first 35-40 minutes of the chapter have now been programmed!Something worth noting is that each chapter of the game is longer than the previous one, and since Chapter 4 is the final chapter, it’s also the longest. However, I feel like I’m making progress faster than I did when I was working on Chapter 3, which is a good thing!I predict that the first half of the chapter will take me longer to complete than the second half, as it focuses more on puzzles and minigames. Areas that focus on puzzle-solving usually take me the longest, as I have to carefully design them and create all the assets they require. As usual, it's difficult to share screenshots of what I'm currently working on due to spoilers, so here's a cute asset instead! A stuffed hare and a stuffed dog! They resemble Luna and Neil a bit, don’t they? I wonder where these stuffed animals will be used…🌙🚂 Sneak Peek🚂🌙This month, I’m showcasing something really special for the first time: music! 🎶 It's actually one of my favorite things about the remake, so let's talk about it! The soundtrack of the original game was a mix of royalty-free and original music composed by Bruno Buglisi (Hibarist), though most of the tracks were royalty-free.  For this remake, Bruno is now composing the entire soundtrack! This means that the original tracks from the original game will be preserved in the remake, while the royalty-free ones will be replaced with original music. Here’s a short snippet of one of the tracks as an example!Does it sound familiar to those who played the original ...

    Development Blog #9

Hello everyone! ✨ It's time for a new development blog! This month was a busy one, which means I made a lot of progress! Let's talk about it! 🌙🚂 Progress 🚂🌙As I mentioned in the last devlog, this month I started development on Chapter 4, the final chapter!Starting development on a new chapter can be a bit overwhelming if I don't plan it carefully. There are so many things I have to tackle: writing, maps, art, puzzle design, programming, localization... and, sadly, I can't work on everything at the same time! What works best for me is dividing the chapter into smaller areas. I create the basic assets for one area, implement everything into the engine, make that section fully playable, polish some details, and then move on to the next one!I completed the first area of the chapter, which covers roughly the first 20 minutes of gameplay. I had to experiment quite a bit before I was happy with the aesthetic of the maps, and I also spent some time creating concept art for later parts of the chapter. Even so, I still managed to make quite a lot of progress! I guess I'm extra motivated now that I'm finally approaching the end of the game!🌙🚂 Sneak Peek🚂🌙Moving forward, it'll be harder to share Chapter 4 content without spoilers. So, I decided to create this new section where I can showcase features and details of the game that I haven't talked about before! This time, I'm showcasing a bit of the game's UI. More specifically, the save/load screen! It received quite an overhaul compared to the original game! The save files now display a screenshot taken at the moment you save, making it much easier to find the point you want to return to. There is also an autosave feature, which the original game didn't have. If you die in-game and forgot to save, the autosave has you covered! In the original, the UI looked very similar to RPG Maker's default style. For the remake, I wanted to give it more of a "vintage detective" vibe, so the menus use labels, papers, and photograph frames as deco...

    Development Blog #8

Hello everyone! ✨ It's time for a new development blog! You can find previous devlogs on my Ko-fi, but now that the Steam page for the game has been unveiled, they will also be posted here from now on! Since this is the first devlog featured on Steam, I'd like to introduce the game and myself first before talking about development. Let's get to it!🌙🚂 Midnight Train: New Moon 🚂🌙Midnight Train: New Moon is a 2D exploration-based horror adventure game in which the protagonist, Luna, tries to escape from a strange building by finding the next train in time. It focuses on puzzle-solving, exploration, and making deductions to uncover the truth behind the train. It's a remake of the game Midnight Train, a free game that was released in 2020. It was praised for its intriguing story and characters, so I'm aiming to make this remake more accessible so more people can play it.It's heavily inspired by the Japanese horror RPG games. If you're a fan of that genre, you definitely can't miss out on this game!🌙🚂 LydiaBluebell🚂🌙I'm the main developer behind this game, and also the one writing this devlog!I'm a game developer from Spain, who focuses on developing horror and mystery games using the RPG Maker engine.Back when I was in high school, I discovered the classic horror RPG Maker games that came from Japan, and I was absolutely fascinated by their interesting stories and mechanics. They made such a big impression on me, that I decided to learn the engine so that I could create my own games. My games were only officially released in English and Spanish, but this remake will also be released in other languages, so I'm happy to finally be able to bring my stories to more people!⬇️ Now, let’s talk about the current progress of the game! ⬇️ 🌙🚂 Progress🚂🌙Chapter 3 has been completed and Chapter 4 production has started! 🎉Midnight Train: New Moon is divided into 4 main chapters, which means the overall game is now 75% completed! Only the final chapter and the epilogue is left!Chapter 3 ...

Midnight Train: New Moon - To be released in 2027!

PLAYISM will release Midnight Train: New Moon, a 2D exploration-based horror adventure game developed by LydiaBluebell, on Steam in 2027. Alongside the announcement, a new trailer has been released. Midnight Train: New Moon is a remake of the free RPG Maker game Midnight Train, originally released in 2020. Although the original was created in Spain, it garnered high praise, particularly among free game fans outside Japan, as a title that followed in the tradition of classic horror RPGs nurtured within Japan's free game culture. This remake retains the core story experience of uncovering the truth through exploration and puzzle-solving, while completely overhauling the graphics, presentation, and game balance. It has been rebuilt so that both newcomers and those who played the original can enjoy it with a fresh perspective. Be sure to add it to your wishlist and look forward to its release in 2027. \PLAYISM\ \url=https://playism.com/en/]Visit the PLAYISM Website\ \url=https://store.steampowered.com/franchise/Playism]PLAYISM Publisher Page\ \]Follow us on Twitter\ \url=https://bsky.app/profile/playismen.bsky.social]Follow us on Bluesky\ \url=https://www.facebook.com/PLAYISM/]Follow us on Facebook\\url=discord.gg/pBKJG5PsVp]Join our Discord\
