About this game

Eleven-year-old Iggy wasn’t sure what he was expecting when he dragged his friends out to the woods to attempt a strange ritual from a book he found in the dumpster at school, but his wildest imagination couldn’t have prepared him for the land of wonder and magic that awaited them at the bottom of that old willow tree.
Now, however, it’s twenty years later, and he and his friends are past the age of make-believe. The wonderland of their youth has become nothing more than a far-off dream—until one night, Bucks and her newborn daughter disappear without a trace. Soon, Iggy and his friends find themselves pulled back into that world of childish glee. Only their wishes and desires aren’t so innocent anymore, and the world has twisted itself into a land of horror and depravity that’s scarcely recognizable.

Our Wonderland is a horror-fantasy visual novel focusing on the struggles, issues, and deteriorating relationships between five childhood friends (amplified to horrific effect). I think of it a bit like an overwrought character drama that happens to include horrific and fantastical things. It contains five different arcs, each with its own ending, and your choices affect the amount of peril the protagonist experiences (hint: how many times Iggy violently dies), as well as the final ending (hint: who Iggy ends up with at the very end, because apparently in some messed-up way, this is also the world's worst dating sim).
As an extra note, this game also touches on a lot of LGBTQIA+ themes.
Our Wonderland was originally released episodically on itchio between 2021 and 2024. This Steam release is the newly remastered version with overhauled art, new features, and many quality-of-life updates.

A dramatic, emotional, and occasionally horrific visual novel told in five arcs, each with its own ending
Four possible epilogues based on your choices (1 neutral and 1 for each of the 3 LIs Iggy can end up with)
20 to 25 hours of playtime (around 288k words of reading)
Storybook-style visuals accentuated by a weird, colorful art style
Over 570 CGs/illustrations (that's a whole heck of a lot)
Some super sweet animatic-style cutscenes for important, poignant scenes (easier to cry to)
12 ways to violently die! (if you want to, of course)
A fun cinematic soundtrack and lots of dramatic sound effects for an immersive experience

Our Wonderland is generally recommended for mature audiences on account of its themes. If after reading the information in the Mature Content Description below, you have any concerns regarding the content, it's recommended that you read the complete and detailed list of content and trigger warnings available on the official site for the game. This list organizes warnings according to arc and type and includes specific details on all potentially triggering content in the game while trying to stay as spoiler-free as possible.
The game also includes a Censored Mode. This mode spot-pixelates elements of gore within the CGs, which may be helpful if you're interested in the game but squeamish about gore.

Small Music Fix (related to streaming)
Apologies for another small fix so soon -- but I just discovered this issue today and wanted to get an update out for it ASAP just in case.As you may know, I use a variety of royalty free music (both free and paid) within the game. Some of the services that I've used over the years have not been kind to creators and streamers, meaning that despite my paying to use the music in the game, they will pop up content ID issues on YouTube and Twitch if people want to stream the game. This is why I created the Streaming Mode, which lowers the volume during a couple of tracks to alleviate this issue for streamers.Well, just today I discovered that another track within the game that didn't used to be a problem has now suddenly become a problem, likely because it was added to content ID recently. Unfortunately, it's a very integral piece within the game -- namely, the piece used for the Cliff cutscene in Arc 2. For this reason, I don't want to mute the song for streamers as it would make the cutscene lose quite a bit of its emotion and impact. So instead, I've decided to simply find a new replacement piece for that cutscene. This patch replaces the music in the Cliff cutscene, as well as in the Music Room, so that it should no longer be an issue for anyone streaming the game.Overall, this content ID issue has been a major frustration for me over the course of working on this game, which is why I moved away from using those services starting from mid-Arc 4. However, there are still a few pieces left within the game, some of which are already muted during Streaming Mode and some of which as of yet haven't caused any issues (fingers crossed that those won't eventually cause issues years down the line...) I just think it reflects really poorly on those music services and makes me never want to use them again for any projects. But I digress.Together with the music patch, I've also made two tiny tiny fixes:Decreased the pause duration when transitioning between the Breaching the Castl...Read full article on Community Announcements (Carrot)Patch NotesOfficial
A Small (Attempted) Fix
Finally... I have been attempting to push this update live for over a week, but Steam was not letting me. But I digress. This update is mostly an attempt to fix a small problem a few people have reported. It seems to be an issue that only affects a few people and even then, only sporadically. Some players have reported that in Genzou's night chat scene in the burrow in Arc 5, Genzou's sprite doesn't appear like it should. Unfortunately, I could not recreate this issue on my end, and many other people also had his sprite appear as normal, so I'm not even sure what the root of the issue is. However, in this fix, I've attempted to completely reset his sprite right before he appears in that scene in hopes that it will fix this issue and keep people from experiencing it in the future. I can't actually check it given I can't recreate the issue to begin with, but please let me know if after this update, anyone is still experiencing this issue. Along with this fix, I've also corrected a small issue I didn't notice before where when in a replay, if you press pause to go into the menu, no matter which replay you selected, it would always say "Arc 1, Prologue." I've now updated it so that it will show the correct arc and chapter title. Please don't hesitate to let me know if you run into any other issues while playing the game. Thank you so much for your continued support!Read full article on Community Announcements (Carrot)Patch NotesOfficial
Tiny Update for a Few Fixes
Just a quick patch note! I pushed live an updated version of the game that includes 3 small fixes to bugs that players have reported:Fixed an issue where the image wasn't loaded properly when playing in censored mode during the game over in the inn in Arc 2Fixed a small art issue in the Orlam clapping CG in Arcs 1 and 2Fixed a small art issue with Cecil's boxer sprite in Arc 4That's all! It's only a few, but I wanted to get them out quickly. And of course please do let me know if you run into anything else!!Read full article on Community Announcements (Carrot)AnnouncementsOfficial
It's Out! The complete remaster is now available!!
I don't really know what else to say besides... IT'S OUT! (in more ways than one LMAO)After five years... (two of those just spent on the remaster)... the remastered, overhauled, redone, and most complete version of this game... is finally done. This game is a piece of my soul. I have changed as a person while working on it, both as a direct result of it, and also simply through the long passage of time. I have discovered parts of myself through this game. I have found catharsis through this game. I have found friends through this game. I have found community and support through this game. It lays bare so many pieces of myself. So many of my struggles. Challenges. But also joys. Wonders.Hope.According to Leafo, this game is pornography. I am unsure why. But I hope now it can have new life in a place where it can be seen. This doesn't mean I'm not nervous and anxious as hell. But at least I have hope again. Also I'm tired. Really really really tired lol. Please play the remaster! It includes a whole wealth of new and overhauled stuff! And if I can ask a perhaps selfish favor: it would mean the world if you could leave a review here on Steam. I'm worried because the game is so long that it will take people a while to finish it (either for a first or second time) and then the reviews will take a while to come in and by then the game will already be buried into obscurity because it didn't get reviews quickly enough... so it would truly mean the world to me if you could leave a review quickly about the game if you've enjoyed it before (and ofc you can update it once you have a chance to complete the entire remaster, etc.).Here are the full FAST FACTS about the remaster:The new After Stories add an additional 15k+ words, taking the complete game to over 300k words (around 23 to 25-ish hours). The new CGs take the CG count up to 570+ (actually 580'ish with the After Stories CGs).I've lost track of how many redone CGs there are, but there's easily at least 100 completely redraw...Read full article on Community Announcements (Carrot)
