About this game
Welcome to Pemkie Island!
Dive into a roguelite monster-collector RPG packed with tons of different Pemkies to catch!
Tame the ultimate team of Pemkies, build a powerful Skill collection, and journey across five distinct regions on Pemkie Island.
Every run offers a fresh chance to craft the perfect combination and restore balance to the world.
The island used to be a peaceful paradise where humans and Pemkies lived in perfect harmony, until.. something unknown changed everything.
A sudden, destructive surge in the island's core energy shattered the balance, distorting reality and corrupting the land.
Now you wash ashore: no memory, no past, just a strange and inexplicable connection to this world.
Piece together the island's ancient history, uncover your place in it all, and find out what it truly takes to restore the balance!
Tactical 6v6 Combat: Engage in deep, turn-based battles. Position your Pemkies to exploit enemy weaknesses and break through their defenses.
Draft & Build: Defeat opponents and draft a new Skill directly from their set! Build a powerful deck out of whatever fate hands you to survive the run.
High-Stakes Roguelite Runs: The island shows no mercy. If you run out of energy, you are sent right back to the start.
90 unique creatures: Discover, catch, and tame every Pemkie hiding across the island's ever-changing landscapes.
Engineer Your Perfect Team: Every Pemkie is born with a unique Trait. Find Energy Wells to perform Evofusion, combining two creatures so the newly fused friend inherits the Traits of both ancestors. Don't just catch a team, engineer it!
Friends & Loot: Meet quirky NPCs along the way, complete their quests, and earn sweet loot to help you on your journey.

Devlog: August Update - New friends and more!
Hey everyone! It's finally time for a new dev update! We've spent a lot of time polishing up these final details to get everything ready for the playtest. We're now playtesting internally and balancing bits of the game to make it as fun as possible but this is where we'll need your help!Reminder to sign up the playtest on Steam if you didn't already! ⭐ Patreon supporters will get the key delivered to their DMs, so your access is granted! ⭐The wait is almost over, so hang in there just a little bit longer...Custom Rigs and AnimationsAs our character designs have evolved over time, the old skeletons just weren't working correctly anymore, so we finally ditched the Mixamo placeholders. They were super useful for speeding things up early on, but we needed movements that actually fit the game and the needs of our story. We built about 20 brand-new animations completely from scratch, and more will come!Bringing Coralia Bay to LifeCoralia Bay had a lot of open space, but it felt a bit empty with so few people roaming the streets. To fix that, we added a total of 15 NPCs. Still not enough to fill a town, so we will add more in the future, but for what we need right now, they will do the job. Some of them will be key to the story, while others are just locals hanging around and talking about random facts to give the town some flavor.Game IntroductionWe also put together a proper introduction to the game. When you first boot it up, you'll take a questionnaire that assigns your starter by popping the bubbles with the answer that fits you.Don't worry, you'll still be able to manually choose which one you want to bring on your runs.Once you arrive at Coralia Bay, you'll get a quick dialogue sequence with the main NPCs. This explains what's going on with the island and gives you the exact context you need for the slice of the game we're preparing for the playtest.Your Starters Follow You!Your starters don't just live in your bag anymore! When you're out roaming the streets of Cor...Read full article on Community Announcements (Meshup Games)Patch NotesOfficial
Devlog: July Update - New Pemkie Traits!
Hey everyone! Welcome back to your July update, which is fashionably late ✨As you might know from our previous post, we spent a tiring (but fun!) week surviving the GMTK Game Jam, so this update got pushed back just a tiny bit. But the wait was absolutely worth it because this is a big one. Let's dive right in!42 New Pemkie Traits! We’ve officially added all 42 currently planned Pemkie Traits into the game!As we teased a few posts ago, traits are innate, passive abilities that each Pemkie will bring into your battles. You can now spot these passives on the left of the Pemkie cards inside the Dex.We don't want to spoil all of them, but here's a sneak peek at a few: Sneaky: Any fire skills applied to this Pemkie grants +1 ATK until the end of the battle. Sporko: When using an Earth skill, damage output is boosted by 10%. Kumoha: Basic attacks also apply 2 Poison stacks.Misqueak: Defeating an enemy will grant +1 permanent ATK.If you want to dig deeper, clicking on a Pemkie in the Dex opens th eir detailed view, where you'll find their passive trait proudly displayed on the right.Reworked Battle RewardsWe’ve reworked the post-battle loot system to give players more control over their current deck! Here is how it works now:If you tamed a Pemkie during the encounter: The reward is the new Pemkie itself, plus a specific skill card that has synergy with them!If you defeat the enemies without taming a Pemkie: You get to draft your rewards between 3 skills from the enemy pool! You'll be presented with 3 cards from the enemy pool and can choose up to 2 to take with you on your adventure. (Don't like the options? You can always skip to keep your build lean!)Meet some new LocalsOn the 3D side of things, we’ve added 3 new characters in the Island! Say hello to Silko (the Tailor), Coraline (the Pension Owner), and Finn (the Handyman). They are currently undergoing the tedious process of being animated, but we think they already have such a character!Battle Smoothing and PolishTo make...Read full article on Community Announcements (Meshup Games)Patch NotesOfficial
Devlog: June Update. Taming net, Skills Overhaul, improved Pemkies and more!
Welcome back to another monthly update for Pemkie Island! We have been incredibly busy behind the scenes overhauling core systems, polishing the visuals, and making sure the game feels both challenging and fair for what is gonna be a limited version of it. We’re getting closer to our playtest, and we have a ton to share with you today! NB: A couple of GIFs were too heavy to add and would have been without audio, if you want to take a better look at the post, you can find it HERE What We've Been Working OnThe Taming NetA while ago, we realized that dropping monsters at the end of a fight to obtain them felt way too random. What kind of monster catcher doesn't let you choose who to catch and when? To fix this, we are currently working on a brand-new capture mechanic: The Taming Net.Using the Taming Net will cost 0 AP first, and then increase by +1 AP for every use, resetting at the end of the encounter. Once used, you must defeat the targeted Pemkie in the exact same turn to capture it! If you miss, you can try again during the next planning phase at the increased cost, but you can only catch 1 Pemkie per encounter, so plan ahead who you would like to add to your team.Massive Skills & Items OverhaulWe’ve completely outgrown our basic "deal light/medium/heavy damage" skills. To give the game much deeper strategy, we’ve drafted a massive list of 180 total skills and items designed around different playstyles per each type. For the playtest though, expect to see the first 42 implemented in-game!To clarify how decks work now, here is a quick breakdown of the difference between Items and Skills:Items are quick, strategic tools that activate instantly during your planning phase (right when you are assigning Skills to your Pemkies). These act as helpers for tricky situations! For example, you can use a Snack to heal your Pemkie right away without risking a faint, or toss a Pebble to deal flat damage and perfectly prep a wild monster for capture.Skills, on the other hand, are...Read full article on Community Announcements (Meshup Games)Patch NotesOfficial
May Update!
Devlog: May UpdateHello everyone! We're going to talk about all the things (finished or still wip) that we went through during the past month. We’ve been working and re-working many different things at once, and we have quite a few updates to share with you all! There is a contest announcement at the end of this post! Make sure to not miss the chance of creating your own original Pemkie that will be made playable in game! 🏞️ 4 new and refined Battlemaps Encounters are a huge part of each journey and we want to try and make every encounter feel distinct, so we’ve now added and refined the first 4 battle maps of the game that will be available in the Coralia Bay biome. The Intro & Tutorial Maps: Built to ease you into the world and teach you the gameplay in a cozy, welcoming setting. The Forest & Pond Maps: These will be the first maps you see when starting your adventure! Each has its own unique set of Pemkies you can encounter and eventually catch!👁️🗨️ Initial Questionnaire map overhaulAlso, here's a sneak peek of what the start of the game is looking right now! It's still wip, so some stuff might change, but we think we're close to a quite suggestive scene.🧑 Meet Your TrainerEvery great adventure needs a protagonist, so we have implemented our basic Trainer Character model! Right now, they’ll be sporting a default look while we focus on core gameplay mechanics. But don't get too attached to this exact look as we are planning a full customization feature down the road so you can truly make the trainer your own!✉️Markets and Mail: Our First NPC & QuestThe island population is growing! We are currently working on our very first main NPC: The Merchant. They’ll be your go-to source for supplies on every new adventure. This is only our first iteration, but that beard already holds a lot of character here! Then, to test our questing system, we’ve also added our very first test quest involving some local wildlife. The island's courriers, the Pegulls (those pesky birds!), have ...Read full article on Community Announcements (Meshup Games)
