FULL BETA DEMO AVAILABLE!
Hey Rangers! Our Space Manager Beta Demo just got a massive upgrade! 🚀Take a look at what is available in the newest Demo version below:Found a space company, name it, and plant your first launch site anywhere on a real map of Earth.Campaign or sandbox mode.Build launch sites around the globe (latitude decides which orbits you can reach).Build, upgrade, rename, and decommission launchpads.Build fuel silos, and purchase fuel on the global market.Build ground-based telescopes and link dishes into telescope arrays.Build data center halls to hold what you collect.Perform engine tests and analysis in the engine lab.Maintain your ground hardware: repair pad wear, recalibrate drifting instruments.Acquire vehicles from a catalogue of 18 real and fictional rockets, with more to come.Order payloads/satellites built to your specs, or design them on the bench.Unlock payload classes through research (comms, weather, nav, GPS).Fuel and drain payloads/RCS thrusters, track their age, and scrap the ones that go stale. Accept contracts (better intel unlocks better contracts).Design your own missions and solve the transfer windows yourself.Plan orbits with the launch planner: LEO, ISS-class, lunar, interplanetary.Claim payouts when a mission completes, and pay liability when it doesn't.Load propellant from your own silo stock.Run a wet dress rehearsal before you risk the real thing.Program the guidance computer with your own ascent profile.Poll the launch team station-by-station for go/no-go.Check the launch-site weather (it's the real weather at that spot on Earth).Count down and launch.Monitor the ascent: gravity turn, staging, fairing jettison, MECO.Handle anomalies, master alarms, and failing hardware.Abort or terminate the flight when it goes wrong (FTS).Manual override for stage separation, MECO, fairing jettison, and FTS.Watch from onboard cameras, or pop the camera feed or telemetry out to a second monitor.Read the post-flight report on every single launch.Reach orbit and see h...Read full article on Community Announcements (Catherine Trophy Games)AnnouncementsOfficial
Ground telescopes
Ground telescopes are essentialThey establish a direct line of communication between vehicle and ground control so we always have telemetry and communication with our vehicles. They serve another equally important purpose as ground telescopes can be fitted with sensor units capable of scanning bodies in different bands. - Mercury scanned using infrared - Mercury scanned using ultraviolet- Mercury scanned using X-ray- Mercury scanned using radio Each band provides valuable information, that together can give us the full picture of a planet or moon, such as temperature, density, size, atmosphere, flux, rotation etc.Such information is required in order to successfully put a satellite into orbit. Without it we cannot calculate any trajectory thus never be able to reach any orbit. But aside from that, telescopes also serve another purpose. Telescopes can work together if connected, and then we can suddenly start to look further ahead and try to find new moons or planets that have never been discovered before. It requires patience, and usually a good idea of where you should look, but look hard enough, and maybe you will find something new.- 7 Dish telescope array - Details of the telescope array With the above telescopes connected in an array we have the capability to start doing deep space scans up to 70AU (or 10,471,860,000 km). The sky is divided into quadrants - we can select a quadrant to start scanning. Depending on the array size, times and coverage will vary. - Space quadrant selection for target range 10-20AU - Space quadrant selection for target range 60-70AU - Active discovery survey on quadrant 38- Something was found far far away, ready to be inspected further, and spark the world's interest $Read full article on Community Announcements (PowerGurd)AnnouncementsOfficial
De-orbiting
The art of deorbiting is about cleaning up after yourself. A satellite that has reached the end of its lifespan will effectively stay in its orbit for many many years unless acted upon by another force. This will become space garbage that can pose a threat to future missions or other satellites. So it may be wise doing a controlled deorbit manoeuvre to have the satellite or vehicle burn up in the atmosphere once it's no longer of any use. The same goes for payload delivering rockets - once it has delivered its payload it will just end up as space garbage - also here a controlled deorbit is adviceable. Satellites in geo orbits are so far away that a deorbit burn will require a massive amount of dV making it close to impossible. In such cases it's normal to send the satellite to a graveyard orbit instead. Usually a few 100km above the geo orbit, where there's no real orbit advantages or satellite traffic. - A worn out satellite in its last days. Using the remaining onboard propellant to perform a controlled deorbit is advisable at this point. - Successful deorbit burn. The satellite has reduced its speed using its remaining propellant, causing it to drop towards the atmosphere, eventually making it burn up in the atmosphere.- Payload delivering vehicle now dead in orbit.- Using ground based conjunction scans we can get an overview of potential hazards. Some are our own leftovers, others are from other actors. For example a country thinking it would be a great idea to fire a missile at one of their old satellites causing a massive cloud of space debris and permanently increasing the risk for all space operations.Ensuring your satellites and vehicles has enough propellant remaining to do controlled de-orbits or graveyard burns is key to success - and looking after everyone else!Read full article on Community Announcements (PowerGurd)AnnouncementsOfficial
Demo
We are thrilled to announce that a very early demo build of Space Manager is now live. This prototype is still in its early stages, but we wanted to get it into your hands as soon as possible to give you a feel for the scope, mechanics, and potential of the game. What you can do in this demo: Even though this is an early build, there is plenty to tinker with. Right now, you can:Navigate the Solar System: Explore the map and get a feel for the scale of your future agency.Manage your Fleet: Purchase new vehicles and launch them into space.Achieve Orbit: Master the mechanics of reaching Low Earth Orbit (LEO).Master the Systems: Dive into the fully functional guidance computer to control your flights.Execute a Mission: Complete our first proof-of-concept mission to see how one of many gameplay loops could work. What’s coming next? Currently, flights are limited to Low Earth Orbit, but this is just the beginning. Future versions of Space Manager will expand your reach dramatically to include lunar and planetary missions, as well as actual landings on other celestial bodies within our solar system. We need your feedback! While there is only one official mission available right now, the sandbox is open for you to play around in. Our primary goal with this demo is to gather as much feedback as possible so we can improve and enhance the core experience. The final direction of Space Manager has yet to be completely determined, and we want you to help us chart that course. If you have ideas for features, quality-of-life improvements, or balance changes, we would love to hear them. Please drop your thoughts, ideas, and bug reports in the Steam Discussions (or join our Discord Server - https://discord.gg/tp3QE7Gg). We hope you will enjoy this little demo experience.Read full article on Community Announcements (PowerGurd)AnnouncementsOfficial
Wet Dress Rehearsal
Wet dress rehearsalA key element to a successful launch is to make sure everything works as intended before an actual launch. A wet dress test means bringing the vehicle to the launchpad, starting the countdown, initiate fueling and stop the countdown just before ignition (rocket engines will ignite for a few seconds and cutoff again). Solid boosters wont be ignited, as these cannot be controlled or turned off once ignited. During this test everything will be monitored and tested. This way potential leaks, or faulty units can be identified and the ground crew gets valuable training prior to the actual launch. In space manager you can always perform a WDR on your vehicles, though its not mandatory, it does reduce the risk of having a failed launch, which is usually a very costly experience - so not mandatory, highly recommended. - Test flight launch window in 18 minutes. Perform a wet dress test or initiate fueling - Wet dress test started and vehicle fueled. Test test is now being performed to verify if the vehicle is flight ready - WDR summary. Test completed with no errors, and the vehicle is now ready for launchRead full article on Community Announcements (PowerGurd)
