Embark on a journey through flesh and myth in MagusiaN, an action-adventure RPG from figtuk. Descend into a cosmos that breaks you but demands transcendence, fighting or submitting to the forces that shape your destiny.

About this game

"MagusiaN" is a myth-driven Souls-like RPG where the world rewrites itself based on your actions, and your role in prophecy is the only thing keeping the cosmos from collapsing.

Built by a solo developer exploring interactive mythmaking and consequence-driven storytelling.

  • Experimental narrative structure that responds to player behaviour & actions

  • Unforgiving and brutal Souls-like combat

  • Atmospheric, symbolic environments inspired by retro visuals with deep symbolism

  • Single-player, story-rich experience

A world governed by prophecy yet constantly contradicting itself.
You are the Mythless.

Unseen powers maintain cosmos through stories. To rule without appearing, they engineered "mythos"; a system of stories & symbols designed to demand obedience.

You exist as an "contradiction" in that cosmos.
Act inside a tale already sealed, decide whether to satisfy, surpass or shatter it entirely in a contradicting world of prophecy.

Awaken from a deep dream stripped of past & future, your essence will be weighed by trials written for you.

  • Explore surreal regions of ruin, machinery, flesh, sacred; realms shaped by conscious & subconscious forces.

  • Encounter mentors, savages, messengers, negotiators and other mythless beings bound to the same script.

  • Comply or defy the cosmos. Shape your fate with steel or with reason, or let the script unfold as inscibed.

Find your way out of passages & trials authored for you.

  • Break sacred machinery. Wander the ruins of ancient and lesser faiths. Confront divines wearing human vessels.  Outgrow what made you!

  • Reason your way, discuss outcomes, trade wares & stakes, give in to demands, kneel or stand up. Negotiate your yoke & your freedom!

  • Sacrifice what you posses. Uncover rituals designed as trials, either let go or bear diminishing returns!

If none of these work, fight your way out!

Attempt to become the myth that surpasses its maker.

    Journey of MagusiaN

Dear MagusiaN community,Before anything, thank you for all the immense support!I would like to use this platform as a more conventional development log space as MagusiaN continues to take shape. I post regularly on X and engage with the community as best as I can, but due to the limitations of social media, it often remains too shallow. I feel I can go more in-depth here. The journey of MagusiaNThis week, I would like to share the journey of MagusiaN.How it came to be, what the processes were like, what is expected for the players, what is on my mind to make it a reality, and more.I thought the best approach would be to start from the very beginning, to show its spine, so you can have a clear image of my direction and vision as MagusiaN ripens.I aim to avoid overselling or overpromising, but I want to be transparent about where the game stands. I’ve avoided explicit story references, so some parts may feel abstract.I'm aware that this may not be for the average player, but rather for those who are interested in looking deeper into MagusiaN, so I truly appreciate anyone who takes the time to explore it!I hope this answers some questions and expectations in your head.-FigtukPlease note that mechanics and systems may change throughout development.

    What is "MagusiaN"?

Greetings. Thank you so much for your interest in my baby, "MagusiaN".I would like to answer some potential questions for people who wonder what this game is all about, when will it be available, what there will be in terms of gameplay, and so on.Q: What is "MagusiaN"?A: "MagusiaN" is a labour of love & passion. I've been solo developing it for quite a while now, in secrecy. It has been two years since the initial concept and fundamentals were laid out.Q: Is this a legit "Souls-like"? What do you mean by "narrative-driven"?A: I would say that it's a legit Souls-like. The character controller, input handling, and combat mechanics are all developed with this game fundamentally being "Souls-like" in mind. However, as important as this may be, my aim is to bring you a certain narrative with a message within this medium. The narrative and ludology both co-exist with friction. The game utilizes certain narrative engines (more on that later) to track your choices, and brings you consequences & challenges accordingly. The hardest part is "co-existing" both of these fundamentals in a sense that both do not gate each other. I'm designing a crucial mechanic where purist Souls players can get the pure, "only lore" narrated, heavy combat & reaction-based gameplay experience. People who enjoy narrative elements, dialogue, dilemmas, etc. can get the "diplomat" experience. Stay tuned to get more information about this in later announcements.Q: What's with all the myths, consequences? Is this a game about mythology?A: No, the game isn't about any particular real-world mythology, rather it's about "myth as tool". "MagusiaN" treats myths as "moral stories and trials that envision programming communities and people", to put briefly. You will be playing through a post-modern mythology about "how a member of a ruling class gets forged?". I don't want to spoil it more for now. I think the question "what is it to "be mythless" in a world where everyone has one" can be applied to not only m...
