About this game

Corpus et Spiritus is a roguelite deckbuilder without combat. You signed a pact with a Homunculus: it will guide you on the path of alchemy, but at the cost of your life force. Use your workshop to craft new cards, transmute metals and discover magical talismans. Become smarter than your dangerous partner and break out of the pact before it kills you!

Master your deck-building skills

  • Build the perfect deck — Choose cards from 7 different families, each with their own gameplay style.

  • Assemble powerful combos — Cards and talismans combine to create increasingly stronger effects.

  • Manage your resources — Cards and actions; Metals for the workshop; Knowledge to accumulate; Attributes to increase your powers… Manage them wisely to become an alchemist!

Unravel the secrets of alchemy

  • Satisfy the Homunculus — Trade your life for great boons. Or don't, but beware the wrath of the Homunculus.

  • Control randomness — Use your workshop to create cards and magical talismans. The metals you insert impact its output.

  • Experiment — Seek new recipes, new cards, new talismans. Unravel the deepest secrets of the art of alchemy.

Release Date Announcement and Open Beta Playtest

Good news, everyone: Corpus et Spiritus is almost finished! The content of the game has been locked — the text at least, as it's been sent for translation into Japanese and Simplified Chinese. And I am happy to announce that the game will be released on Wednesday, September 23! Less than a month from now! But, before we let the shiny money flow in, there is one last big milestone I want to go through: the Open Beta Playtest! It's going to happen on Steam, and for about 3 days, everyone will have access to the full game, for free. And it starts: now!Corpus et Spiritus is an alchemy deckbuilder without combat. You signed a pact with a demon, and it was a bad idea… Gather rare metals, then use your alchemy workshop to transform them into powerful cards and game-breaking talismans. Build powerful decks, experiment with different strategies, and uncover powerful combos to break out of the pact before your partner kills you!Wanna join in on the fun? Hop into Steam, click the Join the Playtest button on the Corpus et Spiritus page, and the game will be installed and ready to play in just a few seconds. The game will run on Windows, Linux, and Steam Deck — though I haven't been able to test that just yet. Then play to your heart's content! If at any point you notice a bug, or something frustrating, or something that you particularly enjoy, please hit the F8 key and send us your feedback. We'll use that as the primary source to fix those bugs and make the game as good as possible for its prime time, on September 23!What's new?So much has changed in the game recently that I won't go into the details. But here are some of the keys things we did in the last few months:We redesigned most of the content, cards and talismans. Some mechanics have been removed, and multiple new ones have made it in. We also added the content we intended to have, leading to the game having a total of 159 cards and 85 talismans. We added 5 new starting decks, for a total of 6 decks you can play with! The...

So, spread the love! ❤️Play the demo, leave a comment, wishlist the game, and most importantly: ✨️ have fun! ✨️Changelog - Next Fest UpdateGameplayThe ingredients of Transmutation recipes are always shown, only the outcome is discovered after trying the recipe at least once. The Homunculus no longer asks for Vitality in its deals — Vitality is only used to refuse deals.Deals have been reworked, they no longer offer metals, actions or card draw, they only offer cards and talismans. The rarity of offered items has been rebalanced.Starting experience and intelligence have been increased to 6.The cost of refusing a deal is now never reset, and grows with each refusal.Rage now increases at the start of each turn, and not when you refuse a deal. It is reset when you reach a knowledge threshold. So essentially, you have 7 turns to reach each threshold or you lose.Quality of lifeSome parts of the workshop have been disabled in the demo. You'll have to buy the full game to get them again! 🙂You can now click the Homunculus to get out of the Deal view. The Homunculus knock animation won't play anymore after you've opened the deal view.ContentThe "discard" mechanic has been removed entirely, as players struggled to understand it, and differentiate it from recycling.
