An RPG set in northern England. Play darts. Aim high. Win the league. Save yourself from total destitution, one lukewarm pint at a time.
Embark on a unique journey where precision and strategy collide as you play darts to rise through the ranks of a local league. Save your destitute self one pint at a time in an innovative blend of RPG and sports gameplay.
About this game
Welcome to Froglington, a town where ambition goes to die and the only thing cheaper than hope is lager.
You've just lost your job at the local gravy mine. You’re skint and your rent’s overdue. But fate, or possibly the parish council, has other plans. The local pub darts league is offering a grand prize of £300. Enough to pay off your landlord and save you from destitution.
Battle your way through chain-smoking postmen, semi-professional window cleaners, and the reigning pub champion known only as Big Phil.
Aim high. Win the league. Save yourself from total destitution, one lukewarm pint at a time

Building on the classic darts experience, in Darts RPG you'll be able to live out your fantasy of becoming the best darts player in town, but with a few extra twists. Challenge the other players in town, level up your player to improve your darts skills, and eventually enter the pub league when you think you're ready.
To add to the classic darts experience, we've created a coaster system, similar to a deck-builder. Coasters are playable 'boost' cards to improve your in-game darts, or distract your opponent. Buy them at the local shop, find them around town, or win them in darts matches. You can equip one perma boost coaster per game, aswell as 3 burnable coasters you can play whenever you choose.

Get lost in the town of Froglington, chat to the locals and find out what they're complaining about today, do jobs for local businesses to earn some beer money, or spend your time improving your darts level in the local darts shop. Every character has a story to tell, or a dodgy side hustle you might want to get involved with. During the day, all pubs are closed, so its the perfect opportunity to get to know your neighbours.
Sample the local beer, just don't expect it to be cold. Getting a bit merry is key if you want to find your perfect game, and finding your 'golden' number of pints can be the difference between a win or a loss. Just don't drink too many, or you might not be able to throw straight. Go seek out a kebab if you want to sober up.
Once you're good enough, take part in the local pubs weekly knockout league. Your landlord isn't going to wait forever for his rent money! Just be careful, if you're knocked out, you can't join again until next week. Each pub in town has its own knockout league with varying difficulty, but with increased money and XP gains. Beat all the pubs in town and officially crown yourself as the best player in Froglington!
What Makes Darts RPG Unique?
We wanted Darts RPG to capture the feeling of being a darts player in a pub league, its less regimented than professional darts, there are more outside factors that can influence a game, and of course, there's alot more alcohol involved. Retaining the traditional rules of Darts as a core, players now have more options mid-game to tailor their experience, making each game feel different, not to mention the drunk mechanics where you need to balance your drunk levels to play at your peak levels.
In order to progress as a darts player, you will win games, earn EXP, and unlock more pubs to compete in. Progression will then unlock further towns and regions, accessible by the local train station or bus stop, where you can compete at higher levels, take part in darts leagues and enter local tournaments. EXP does not have a cap, so players can continue to improve their player indefinitely. Our goal is to eventually have an online lobby where you can compete with your mates, and see how you fare against the rest of the world. In addition to this, we'll have a ranked leader board so you truly can become the best player in the world.
Darts RPG will feel alive and fresh, and filled with lots of northern references and puns - and will be a unique addition to the darting game scene.

Updates to latest demo build of Darts RPG 0.4.0
Hey everyone! Thanks again to everyone that has played our demo, so far we've had over 250 unique users playing the game! Since launch last Thursday, there has not been a single moment where someone hasn't been playing! We've had alot of great feedback so far, either on our discord, or through the steam community forum, and we're actively addressing all of the notes so we can make the demo the best it can be. A consistent theme across all the feedback we received was that the darts throwing mechanics don’t feel accurate enough, when you land your dart in the green zone on the slider, the dart would be far too random and therefore you don’t feel rewarded for successfully timing the slider. We're hoping that with the latest update, we have gone a step further to improving this and making it feel more rewarding for players. With that in mind, please find a list below of the things we have changed in our new build (0.4.0):Game mechanics:Darts accuracy mechanics - we have boosted the accuracy of your throw when you land the slider in the green zone. This of course does not mean that just because you have landed in the green, that your dart will go exactly where you aimed, it just means you will be far more likely to hit where you aim. As you level up, the likelihood of your dart landing where you aim will continue to rise. At lower levels, we still want it to feel like you are a new player, new players darts do not always go where they aim, so we're hoping the above helps improve that balance a bit more.Slider speed - to offset the more accurate green zone, we've made the slider a bit more challenging at lower levels, so it is therefore a bit harder to land in the green zone. Again, as you level up, the slider will become slower and easier to time your throw.Arm sway - at lower levels, the players arm will now sway a bit moreGeneral bug fixes:Fixed Z ordering on multiple spritesAdded ESC key option for closing inventoryFixed a bug where player arm would appear after drinkin...Read full article on Community Announcements (DartsRPG)AnnouncementsOfficial
Preparing for our DEMO release this summer
Now then!! Rich and Rob here back with another update on Darts RPG We're excited to announce that the demo for Darts RPG should be releasing within the next month. We're aiming for the end of July, but we'll update you all closer the time if that changes! This will also be accompanied by a brand new demo release gameplay trailer. We will then have our demo live until just after next fest in October. We've had a super busy few months, most of the main mechanics for our game are in place, so we're now starting to flesh out the town more to make it feel more alive - especially in the daytime when the pubs are closed. Adding training games and in-game titlesWe've been putting in alot of work making the in-game experience better, with more flashy titles, sound effects and more. We're also giving the player more options outside of the pub games to practice to improve your skills.Adding life to FroglingtonWe want to make sure the town of Froglington feels alive, so we're making the effort to animate everything. That's ranging from grannys walking around, cigarettes burning in a pub, or pigeons mooching about and flying around. Opening game cutsceneWithout giving too much away, our game will start with a cutscene setting the scene for the world of Froglington in which our player will live. We're in the final stages now of getting this all together, and it should really give the players a grounded sense of the world they are in when they first start the game. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for our demo launch trailer, you can also check out out social media pages over on b.sky or twitter!CheersRich & Rob from Fluid Beef GamesRead full article on Community Announcements (admin)Patch NotesOfficial
May Update - Leagues and the weather
It's been over a month since our last update - we've been busy with lots of features in the game!Weather systemWe've implemented a weather system for the outdoor areas of the Froglington, much like northern England, it tends to be grey and raining a lot of the time. The weather system changes throughout the game, so you'll see extended periods of terrible weather and occasionally a day or two of sunshine.Pub LeaguesWe've also started working on the pub leagues. These are knockout leagues you play in each pub, once you beat the pub, you can move on to the next. The characters in the pub league will be characters around Froglington. Does Wayne being a semi-professional window cleaner improve his darts skills? Does Diana's controversy in the post office last week mean she won't be at her best? There's only one way to find out!Upcoming DemoWe're also working hard on fixing bugs, finishing features and getting the game into a state where we can publish our first demo. Keep an eye out on Steam for updates!Read full article on Community Announcements (He's dead, Jim.)Patch NotesOfficial
Spring Update - Kebabs and More Darts Mechanics
Its been a month since our last update, and we've been very busy behind the scenes working on more artwork for the game, aswell as trying to refine and enhance our ingame darts match mechanics.Building InteriorsKebab ShopFirst up is the kebab shop - we want this to be a place where you can fill up at the end of the night, to soften the blow of a hangover for the next day too. We're also going to have a playable arcade machine in here where you can try set scores to compete with other players around the world.Darts ShopWe're adding a dart shop to the town so you have a place to practice during the day when the pubs are closed, you'll also be able to pick up new coasters and darts accessories in the shop.In-Game Darts MechanicsWe're constantly trying to refine our ingame darts match mechanics, making it more engaging and fun, whilst trying to retain the core feel of a darts throw. This week we've made alot of progress with our release meter, this is still a work in progress, but essentially the meter represents your release point, if you release your dart in the green zone you'll have a higher chance of being as accurate as possible with your throw (depending on your level that is)This will all then work together with our accuracy based system, which factors in multiple factors such as drunk level, the darts themselves (every set of darts will fly a bit different another), any coaster based effects and your overall darts level/ability.Read full article on Community Announcements (admin)AnnouncementsOfficial
Gravy, Fuel, and a Prayer
It's been a busy few weeks, but we're back with another update, this time we've got a bunch of new artwork we'd like to share with you! On top of that, we recently hit 400 wishlists for Darts RPG!The Bovroil Petrol Station/Car DealershipThis ones more for show, you won't be able to buy a car, or fill up your own car (as you dont own one) - however we'll be able to have alot of fun plot lines and side quests related to this garage in the future. This is also the first time we've shown off the 'Bovroil' logo in any artwork. This is a brand we've created in the Darts RPG universe that is essentially the big corporate entity that owns everything, including the local mines, where the 'fuel' for this petrol station is sourced....The Gravy FountainForget war memorials, this towns heart and lifeline is gravy, the savoury nectar that runs through all of our town's residents from birth. To commemorate all the lives lost in the mines over the years, Froglington erected a ceremonial fountain so they can pay their respects. The Local ChurchStill nameless, the local church is another fun build we've been working on lately. It's unique in that its one of the only buildings right now with a diagonal perspective, which we think is working well in the town. We'll also be building out the inside of the church, full of stained glass and wierd statues and tapestries. Maybe even a wedding or two? I'd like to go all in on the gravy theme and maybe make this a house of worship for the gravy gods, but I'll have to convince Rob of that first...And thats it in the artwork department this last few weeks, we've been working on a bunch of other smaller details here and there, and the next task is to start creating more NPC's so we can start working out the relationships between each character and their back stories etc. Meanwhile, Rob has been working on balancing the darts mechanics and levelling system, aswell as ironing out the first tutorial darts match that our player takes part in.Thanks ag...Read full article on Community Announcements (admin)
