About this game
Taking 9th place in a Playstation 1 themed Game Jam, Retrovolver (formerly known as 'Bandit Bill') comes to Steam with much more content In this retro inspired rouge-like first person shooter, you are an outlaw in the wild west with one thing on your mind - getting that paper. Can you survive?
NOTE: The game is in a post-game jam state, meaning content will come over time with patches as the game takes form and more ideas become clear.
Procedurally Generated Towns
You will start off in a procedurally generated town. You're an Outlaw so naturally, everyones gunning for you. You have some bullets to start, but you'll need to find ammo to keep shooting.
Bullet Hell
Bullets are all projectiles with the chance to ricochet off some surfaces. As you progress to more towns and get upgrades, more bullets fly!
Different Enemies
Fight off waves of cowboys, sheriffs, snakes and other enemies as you explore the town to rob the people of their wealth so you can make your gun shoot better.
Upgrades
Once you clear a town, a travelling trader will appear. You can buy upgrades, items and power ups from here.

Summer 2026 Update
We have a nice big update that fixes a few things and some important engine updates.EnemiesCowboys now aggressively chase the player down and engage from much further away — and no longer get stuck, jitter, or stand idle during combat.Sheriffs are smarter — they hold their ground at range, back off if you get too close, and react faster.Enemies now react when hit, staggering sideways before continuing their attack (fixed enemies spinning when shot).Enemies across the map now alert each other when a fight starts.Enemies hold their line until the raid kicks off: they ignore you until you fire your gun, break a breakable object, or strike an NPC — only then do they hunt you down.TownsfolkTownsfolk now flee more reliably and navigate around walls when running from the player.Fixed townsfolk freezing against walls when cornered.PlayerManual reload added — reload your revolver at any time without emptying it first.Reloading mid-cylinder only uses the bullets you actually need from your reserves. You can now move while crouching.Decreased jump cooldown to 0.1 seconds.NPC SpawningNPCs now spawn at random open spots across a town chunk instead of clumping in the center.Spawns avoid buildings, objects, and other NPCs, and always land on walkable ground.Fixed NPCs being silently dropped when space was tight — the intended population now reliably appears.First town can now roll 1–2 cowboys (previously always 1) and 0–2 townsfolk.Bosses (Giant Rat & Giant Snake)Bosses now relentlessly chase the player instead of wandering off when you back away.Boss move speed is set just below your sprint speed, keeping them a constant threat.Boss attack range scales with body size so big bosses can actually land hits.Giants are now immovable — bullets no longer shove or slide them backwards, though hits still register and deal damage.Menus & UIFixed button highlights staying white after moving the mouse away.Fixed various menu navigation issues when switching between panels.Fixed the post-proce...Read full article on Community Announcements (Peatfire)Patch NotesOfficial
