Command your armies and influence the medieval world in Defender of the Crown: The Legend Returns. Conquer provinces and raise forces for strategic battles, all enhanced for a new generation of players.
About this game
In the 1980s, Defender of the Crown helped define a new kind of cinematic strategy game. Now it returns, rebuilt for modern platforms and remastered with an entirely new way to play.
Conquer territories, raise armies, storm castles, and shift the balance of power. It's the Defender of the Crown you remember - just sharper, cleaner, and built for today.
Retro Mode. The original Amiga classic, preserved with near-perfect authenticity and quality-of-life enhancements.
Classic Mode. Amiga classic reimagined for today. A completely new visual identity, refined mechanics, and smoother systems.
Kingdom Mode. An entirely new challenge. Procedurally generated maps, special dice mechanics, unlockable abilities, and multiple difficulty levels to keep every run unpredictable.
Everything that made the original special is intact: the ruleset, the pacing, the atmosphere. What's changed is everything around it - cleaner systems, improved balance, a modernized interface, and quality-of-life updates throughout.

Defender of the Crown: The Legend Returns (PC) Review
I was excited to take a look at Defender of the Crown: The Legend Returns because it genuinely brought me back to a bygone era of PC gaming. I’ve mentioned in the past that, growing up, I never really had access to many PC games, but one of the few I remember being enamoured by was Lords of the Realm after seeing it at a friend’s house. And while I didn’t get much time with it, I always yearn for that era of Medieval PC strategy games. Defender of the Crown: The Legend Returns is certainly a wonderful little trip back to those halcyon days. For better or worse, it’s about as faithful a recreation as one can be of the PC classic while also adding some modern-day enhancements. And while I admire how polished and well presented this classic is, I can’t help but feel like with just a few more enhancements, it could have far exceeded its existing quality. The story in Defender of the Crown: The Legend Returns is minimal and effective. It is a battle for supremacy across ... Read moreRead full article on CGMagazine (Jordan Biordi)AnnouncementsOfficial
6 Things to Know Before Playing Defender of the Crown: The Legend Returns
Hey everyone! The countdown is almost over – Defender of the Crown: The Legend Returns launches next week! Whether you're a longtime fan or stepping into the world of Defender of the Crown for the very first time, here are six handy tips to help you start your adventure on the right foot. Every Lord is different Each Saxon lord begins the campaign with different strengths, weaknesses, and starting territories, making every playthrough feel a little different. If you're new to Defender of the Crown, we recommend starting with Wilfred of Ivanhoe. His balanced abilities and favorable starting position make him the most forgiving choice for learning the game's mechanics. Once you've mastered the basics, try the other lords to discover new strategies and fresh challenges. Never Attack a Castle Without a Plan In Classic and Retro modes, you'll need to lay siege to enemy castles before launching an assault. Bringing enough catapults can dramatically weaken the defenders and save many of your troops during the final attack. In Kingdom Mode, you can choose to attack immediately, but don't underestimate the value of a successful siege. Taking a little extra time to prepare can often be the difference between a glorious victory and a costly defeat. Chivalry Has Its Rewards Throughout your adventure you'll encounter Saxon ladies being held captive by the Norman lords. Rescuing them isn't just the honorable thing to do – it also comes with valuable rewards. In Kingdom Mode, each of the six ladies grants a unique starting trait that can influence your strategy for the rest of the campaign. They'll also send you heartfelt love letters as your reputation grows, adding another layer to your journey toward becoming England's rightful ruler. Not all dice are created equal Combat in Kingdom Mode is about more than luck. As you progress, you'll unlock Precious Dice, each with its own special effect that can turn the tide of battle. These unique dice can be used during both the Tactical ...Read full article on Community Announcements (Ash)AnnouncementsOfficial
